Zoolander (fun classic, silly humor, VERY quotable and just a great sit back, laugh and turn off brain comedy).

Thor: Ragnarok (One of the better MCU movies imo. You seem to be interested in MCU, so as a casual MCU fan, this is one I definitely recommend).

Quick and the Dead (Probably my favorite Western. It isn't regarded as highly as the older classics, but the story is solid and I like the pacing better than a lot of the better-regarded classics. I've watched several times over many years and I always enjoy it).

No Country for Old Men (very intense, I have never seen anything from the Coen Brothers (movie or TV) that I haven't loved).

Lucky Number Slevin (A neat and stylistic caper flick and a very fun watch. A fun slow burn that takes itself precisely as seriously as it should. I went in with low expectations and was very impressed).

A lot of others I would recommend, but I read the rules so I will have to wait to earn more nominations. Started at the bottom and worked my way up and there are several others to recommend, but I will have to tune in before I can do so (I saw something about trading, so I'll read more on that too). For now, this is a group of movies I really like and I feel like they are well spread out in multiple categories. They all jumped out at me though as I was scanning the list, like "ooh I have to nominate this!"

a few quick questions. I can see from the spreadsheet what's been covered. Can't tell for sure what has been nominated yet and what hasn't, so looking for clarifications before I make my 5 (mostly to avoid redundancies, both direct and in case of genres/styles heavily nominated and queued already, would rather steer against those to nominate more variety :D)

I've drank wine out of almost everything lol. Lg fast food cups, straight outta the box, cut up soda/sport drink bottles like Ricky, cans like Always Sunny, water bottles. pretty much anything you'd drink anything out of, I've drank wine out of... except bags like bagged milk (although boxed wine is in a bag inside the box and I've taken the bag out and drank straight from it when it's low... if that counts as bagged >_>)

My niece is 6, so we watch her cheer but none of the kids are on that football team. So like one tiny kid in a helmet was crying and the coach ran up to him, said there's no crying, cradled him up and ran him to his position on the field lol. incoming uncomfortable rant but I want to put it out there. Feel free to not respond at all because I will probably never reference it again regardless, but this post got me thinking and I want to share it so I'm going to do that and then move on...

That reminds me of when I was 7 in youth soccer. I was sitting out near the end of a game and I wanted to go in for the end of it. My father went to talk to the coach and I wandered a bit off site and got bullied by this prick that was the older brother of a teammate. He pissed me off and I got upset and ran back and when my father told me I was going to sub back in, I didn't want to because I was upset. That should have been the end of that.

Instead, later, he went on a bipolar rant and screamed at me, saying he could/should have kicked the shit out of me.

It isn't that specifically that made me stop having contact with him. He did a bunch of other bullfuck like that which I overlooked or desensitized to over the years, and really that's what bothers me the most. I enabled that shit by brushing it off. It happened again maybe 5 years ago. He went off on me again like that and I screamed at him and basically ruined the entire visit which was meant to be thanksgiving and his birthday. He crumpled when it happened. He went from angrily talking down to me to cowering in a corner after I went over the top on him... but I was still uncomfortable. I was like "I just did that... what might I do next time?"

After that I realized his bullshit wasn't just that one thing I mentioned when I was 7. It was a pattern of that kind of garbage throughout my whole life. My brother, who at the time I had plenty of other unrelated unresolved issues with, already was done with our father and wanted nothing more to do with him. I was like "shit... <my brother> won't even talk to him now" and I wondered why I would... or if I even should. A lot of stuff I had suppressed came flooding back and I realized it just wasn't healthy to continue to associate with our father and I was a fucking time bomb if I did. He made really fucked up disturbed behavior seem mundane and mainstream, to the point where to me (us), his "antics" seemed like "dad being dad" as opposed to the reality of "severely mentally disturbed person having unhinged meltdowns in public for no reason"

I don't plan to ever forgive him for that. I know he can't help being bipolar, but my brother is too and so am I probably (no diagnosis yet) and we're both adopted, separate families, so if we got that from him, it was 100% nurture and not genetic in the slightest.

It just really pisses me off that I went through so much of my life normalizing absolute bullshit on his behalf and justifying it, and trying to play the voice of reason every time he was in some asinine conflict. I kinda hate myself for that. I always thought "as long as he doesn't turn on me..." and for the longest time, he never did. Then it happened and I damn near physically attacked him in his own fucking home and his visible fear and submission was the only thing that held me back. I scared myself. I don't want to be that person. For a few seconds I lost control and I didn't like it.

This would be better meant for therapy lol but whatever. We all share personal shit here so I'm comfortable throwing this out there, if anyone can relate in any way. Seems silly looking back at Mabus' story I quoted and thinking how it led me to this but these things happen :P (and it's more a "get off my chest" thing)

oh and I fucked up my phone somehow at some point too. Has a nice new spiderweb of cracks on the screen. I think it fell out of my jacket pocket and got stepped on (probably by me). Not pissed off about that though because it's completely aesthetic damage. Display is still 100% and it was already cracked, so as long as it still functions properly and I can see the whole display, I don't give too much of a fuck lol

I don't entirely remember.

I was chillin with one of the several "up the street neighbor" buddies of mine (all live in the same building and often drink and/or smoke outside so when I pass by, I at the least say hi and sometimes chill and drink/smoke with them. It seems like everyone who lives there has issues, and there were a bunch who later showed up and there were like 2 conversations happening at the same time and I was high as fuck but basically this older drunk chick was ranting and talking to some other chick who used to live there but didn't anymore, and I was just sitting there talking to my neighbor drinking buddy and this other chick (younger than everyone else, like mid 20s) was kinda between conversations and I just could not follow everything that was going on. I don't really know any of these people well. All of the women I've only met like once or twice and always when I'm at least a little bit fucked up. And it was just like... surreal because I was kinda pinballing between 2 separate conversations at the same time but in context, everyone was like talking shit about everyone else because they all know each other and I don't really know any of them so I couldn't really figure out what was going on and I was too stoned and one of the older women was throwing around the n word and apparently had several seizures earlier when I was walking to the liquor store to buy her cigarettes because she didn't have her ID so they wouldn't sell to her even though she's clearly in her 50s and the whole thing felt like a lucid dream scenario and I had been just been talking with the other dude there about lucid dreams earlier and he had told me a story about one time he was so wasted he was insisting that he was lucid dreaming and not awake when he was hanging out with another of his buddies who had the same name as me and that story reminded me of what was going on right in that moment so I was like internally freaking out a little bit and it was all just like compound layers of "what the actual fuck is going on right now?"

That's the most I can remember.

Yeah, that's how I remember it also. A lot of the meltdowns had to do with things from offsite involving a lead moderator from here and usernames created by the banned user based on said moderator, which eventually led to Allen himself giving an ultimatum that was unheeded.

I also remember that muffinz and JMO faced each other in several consecutive user popularity voting contests for a few years and that JMO was the overall winner of said match ups. iirc muffinz won the first year but then JMO won the next 2 after that (in head to head match ups between them).

A former boss of mine got surgery and never lost any weight from it. Instead of compulsively eating, he would compulsively chew food and then spit it in the trash. I don't know that he gained weight though. I left that job within a year or two of that time. He died about a decade later and I hadn't seen him since I left. All I know is he had been trying to self-install an AC unit on the roof of his business using a weak ladder and self-rigged pully system. Ladder broke, he fell, AC landed on top of him. He broke... a lot. Never recovered fully and started drinking to self-medicate the pain. Overall, I don't know how much of an effect his morbid obesity had on his death given everything else (he was diabetic too) in play, but it would have taken a lot of hard work on his part to get healthy after his accident and he was never the type to make any such effort.

Not necessarily violent. Mine quit when I started giving him shit back verbally and then also when he decided to yank me i let him pull me into him knocking him into the floor. Like I threw my arm out like I was trying to catch myself but let it plant right I'm his chest and shoved him. He fell in the floor qnd I just walked away. It's not about getting violent. They want a easy target usually. Prove you're gonna be a hassle for them they usually give up
