Like where I work, we can only take Visa gift cards if they're enough to cover it or they know the exact amount that's on it, because it'll automatically reject if you try to pay for something that costs more than it's worth. And we can't pay partial with a Visa gift card and partial with a credit card (can split between visa card and cash though)

It was a taco bell specific gift card. Visa gift cards are a pain imo, I always have issues getting them to work.

In Mascarade, you're given a role, and it's every man for himself after that as you either investigate a neighbor's role, check out your own role, or claiming to have a role and taking an action associated with that role. The actions primarily concern acquiring more money for yourself, either from a pool or from another player. Opponents may counter your claim, leading to showdowns.

Experience: For some reason: I've never had a really satisfying game of Mascarade. Is it the downtime? Is it the randomness? Is it the fact that some of the roles are ridiculously mean? I may have rubbed some people the wrong way, but I was the victim of a "take that!" sort of play once, by a distant friend-of-friend, while I was clearly not a threat to win and someone else clearly was. Maybe I'm negatively biased by sucking at this game?

Design: I love so much about the ideas behind this game. The roles are unique and fun, and the idea of possibly swapping your card (or not!) leads to some amusing randomness. But perhaps one big issue is that it's not super enjoyable to try to track whose role has ended up where, and it's turn-based without teams - so you can wind up just waiting for twelve other players' turns, then take an action that's immediately counter-claimed - that's not a good feeling.

Next play: Honestly, doing this writeup made me want to give the game another shot. It's been at least a year - maybe I just need a change of scenery for this one. And fewer players.

Is this not just stealing from the consumer then? As I understand it, if someone purchases a $25 gift card, then that card is able to be used as a substitute for conventional payment methods (Cash/card) when purchasing something. In other words, I think of it as an agreement that "the possessor of this card is entitled to $25 of essentially free goods of their choice, since it's already been paid for." Is this not accurate?

So I want to know if this is more common than I realize or if it's just stupid. I think it's stupid.

I went to taco bell today to use the remainder of my gift card, i knew it had somewhere between $6-8 on it, but couldn't remember exactly. So I order some food in the drive thru, the total is $8.39. I get to the window, hand her the card, she takes it, and brings it back and says that they can't split the check between whatever's left on the gift card and whatever else I want to pay with, and that the order was more than what was on the card, so I essentially couldn't use it. (Well I could if I knocked off some of what I ordered but I feel bad doing that and I was also hungry so that was on me).

Now this seems incredibly dumb because it essentially prevents someone from using the entirety of what's on the card, even if it's like $.40 or something like that, because unless you go ahead and plan exactly what you want every time you use it and factor in tax to come up with, say, $25 exactly, you're usually going to be left with at least some change on it. Or more egregiously in this case, $6.61, which I was told was how much was left on the card.

So, I ask, is this a commonplace thing? If so, what reasoning could they have for doing so?

Well, yes, it gets a bunch of status effect moves. It can chip away at sleeping opponents until they wake up and Flamethrower/Fire Blast it into a beautiful oblivion.

At least it'll be useful against the legendary beasts!

I'm just curious, did you also hate whomps fortress in sm64? I don't think there's anything wrong with an all vertical level, rocket nozzle would kind of defeat the purpose of the level. And even then, as I recall there's a bunch of bungee ropes you can use to bounce high up and just get closer to the top that way, rather than just trekking all the way up the hard way. I will give you partly the "boring level design" which for me is the area that you're actually supposed to use to go up with those cliff platforms, but everything past/before that I quite enjoyed.

Yeah, for me the issue isn't so much the content (fairly standard backstory but not nonsensical at least) but it's the fact that we've been waiting so long to find out who jiren is and why and OOPS, a few minutes and we're done!

It just leaves you like..."that's it?" It feels like they knew they had to get his story in somewhere but had no idea where so they just randomly decided to have belmod speak up about it for no reason.

I mean there's no single "correct" way to deal with it. As Surskit said, just feel what you feel. If he treated you wrong (which it sounds more often than not that he did) then there's nothing wrong with just shrugging your shoulders and moving on. If I were in your position that's probably how I'd react, especially if all of that treatment was unprovoked. If someone won't treat you with respect then they don't deserve your respect, is how I see it.

Of course, the opposite is also fine. If you still are sad about his passing, even if you don't understand why you are necessarily, it's not like there's anything wrong with that either.

My favorite part was when Goku was like "Thanks 17, I know how to be Jiren now!" Then he reveals that what he realized is if you hit Jiren with a strong attack when he doesn't guard you'll hurt him. I didn't realize Goku had Sherlock Holmes level detective skills. That is just such an amazing plan to hit someone with a strong attack when they aren't blocking it.

This was that type of moment for me as well.

It depends on if you think the power of TECHNOLOGY should beat a god of destruction, since that's essentially what 17 and 18 are. I don't think it should be able to. At least frieza's 'four' months of training would have been bringing out his natural power, but 17 is basically just a human with technology. I wouldn't think he'd have that potential.

I'm kinda feeling this way about this last segment of the ToP in general, not just with frieza. Like the amount of times that Jiren has punched someone hard enough to send them to the end of the freakin void, much less what's left of the arena, and they happen to just hit a piece of debris that's thick enough to stop them, is kinda getting ludicrous. Especially Frieza who gets bounced TWICE in one flight!
