Brucer and Jackier are so much better than Hitmon The weird thing here is that he still did pretty major localization on those names. They're not named after Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan at all in Japan but rather a famous boxer and famous kickboxer. Hitmontop was named Kapoerer, derived from the fighting style capoeira. Thanks to this topic I just realized Mankey is an Angry Monkey due to Primape named Mongry. I thought it was just a stupid one letter change from monkey. (kind of like Seel from seal)
