It's because riptides most often run perpendicular to the shore. So you need to go parallel to get out of the riptide section to then have a chance of getting back to the shore unassisted.

They also say it's safer to actually just float and try signal for help than try fight against a riptide (swim against it rather than parallel). Highly unlikely to beat it and it's going to tire you out to the point of drowning

Even though I'm a decent swimmer, I hate swimming at sea. I'll happily swim in Florida lakes (and frequently do) but open sea scares me without all the safety precautions

I think wallmasterz was saying "For some reason" as in "Why would anyone try to do that" rather than "I don't understand why you can't swim away from the shore"

Mechanics
Status-inflicting Black Magic spells' success rate is based on Vivi's Level, Magic stats, and the status spell's base accuracy. Vivi can use the Focus ability to increase his Magic during that battle by 25% per use. The effect stacks up to 99 and lasts for the entire battle, even if KO'd.

chance = 40 + Vivi's level + (Magic/4) - enemy's level

Afterward, two randomly generated numbers determine if the spell will hit:
A random number 0...99 >= Chance, Vivi misses his cast
A random number 0...99 < Target's Magic Evade, the target evades

Defintely, also they already won. Winning a title is hard much less multiple. I'm not sure how much longer the bucks have with middleton and holiday though so it's a good thing they got it, it could've very well been seen as a failure if they hadn't.

I wish people would stop looking at it as a Warriors collapse or a Draymond suspension and start giving the Kings some credit as the higher seed and the better team. yeah they're champions but the Kings are pretty real. not championship level real, but the whole media narrative was how every team in the league wanted the Kings in the first round. now if the Warriors lose it'll be because Draymond got suspended and the can will get kicked further down the road.

Most players who play dirty get penalized harsher because of reputation and because that's the only way to corral their behavior. Draymond gets it the other way. It's like he does so much bad stuff that they let him get away with too much because it's not as bad as some of the things he does.

It also feels like the league plays favorites. True or not, that's something Boston fans hate - you can probably chalk it up to persecution complex.

That all said, Sabonis writing around on the court like a Euro soccer player is probably worse for the league than what Draymond did. (please don't bring up Paul Pierce's wheelchair that was totally legit >_>)

Kat is a center in name only; he just wants to hang out on the perimeter and shoot 3s, and he's not a great interior defender iirc. I think it was perfectly feasible to expect him and gobert to play well together and for gobert to give them something they didn't already have.

The problem is that he wasn't worth that many 1sts. But gobert had value.

for the record, going back to brunson, the texts that cuban was showing are claiming that they couldn't actually have offered the extension while he was signed; that the brunsons weren't having it because they were limited to 4/56.

So from cuban's pov, brunson wouldn't take the extension and then he got shut out of even negotiating during FA

Yeah he did, and I get what you are saying. My point of view is coming from the fact that we already know that Luka has been disgruntled...for like the majority of the year. He has some personal issues off the court, and it's already been reported/said that they/he misses Brunson and feels they fucked that up. Not to mention Cuban and the front office are not looking like the brightest NBA minds right now. I can see the frustration boiling over and demanding a trade in a year or two.

Still gives them enough time to remedy a couple of season, but as of right now I'm pretty confident in Luka leaving. Whether it be a trade, or he leaves after the contract.

For the record, while it obv could be just damage control by cuban, he did make a claim that they didn't even get a chance to sign brunson because his parents interfered and wanted him to go to NY. IF you believe him (He claims he was reading off texts in the piece), then luka shouldn't really hold that against them if they legit didn't even get to talk to brunson.

He just signed his rookie extension didn't he? Even if he goes full-on simmons and sits out, as history showed us the sixers still basically got what they wanted anyway. IMO mavs need to just focus on building up as best they can.

If they made the playoffs, they sent their 1st this year to the knicks I think. I get tanking is uglier when it's done more blatantly on a per-game basis, but it was the right move to do it imo. This is a pretty good draft I hear, maybe the mavs can hit on a difference maker.
