Hello, and welcome to another installment of the yearly B8 pickem topic! Last year, Terpaholic prevailed over bartz in the Super Bowl, while fortybelowsummer was our regular season champ with 187 correct picks! You all know the rules, but for any new people, it's simple:
1) Pick all the games.
2) You can switch any game that hasn't started yet (IE if it's 3 pm, you can switch any games that start in the afternoon slot or later), and you don't have to make all your picks at once if you don't want to. Lots of people just pick Thursday to start and then do the weekend later, it's up to you.
3) When making picks, it's preferable to me to pick them in the order I list them, as that makes it easier for me to keep the master sheet updated.

Because the cavs signed darius garland to a 5 year rookie max extension, and because they just acquried mitchell on the same contract, when evan mobley comes up in a couple years, they will not be allowed to offer him a 5 year max rookie extension with those two guys still on the roster

Basically everything about the browns pursuit of him is wrong. The whole "We want an adult at qb" and going after a serial molester, spurning the qb in the process, who actually is the most successful one they had in a long time, the guaranteed money, all of it. They handled 0 the correct way here.

I am super high on the cavs now. This is legit a lineup with 4 all-star or borderline all-star guys. And they're all like 25 or under, I think mitchell is now their oldest guy. If dan gilbert doesn't penny pinch they can keep this core together for a decade, GS style

That mindset is exactly what I fear. It will be one game, in a new offense with new receivers. The potential is definitely there for him to underperform in THIS game, but I don't think that people should just jump to conclusions that he is therefore ass like they've been saying all along. Obviously he's put himself in this situation by running his mouth, but ultimately I am willing to give it some time and see, if he does go out and lay a stinker week 1, if he can adjust as the season goes on. I hope people won't start talking **** until like...week 6.

That will never happen though.

If he is bad this game the blowback from people looking to put him in his place will be enormous

FWIW I think all of those "single player" sports aren't 100% single player, you are still in competition with other people and there are scenarios where certain outcomes affect how you play. IE if you're up by 2 strokes on the final hole in golf then you may dial it back, as opposed to pushing hard for a birdie on 17 down 1, etc. Just because the competitors are not directly, physically influencing your interaction with the ball doesn't really mean they have no effect on you.

I think basically anything that can be classified as a competition can be a sport, but I would not call them professional athletes because chess is not athletic.

I just beat it, and can confirm the penultimate thing is amazing.

As for why I kept playing it, iirc the ability to change the menu music is locked behind this, that's why.

I totally feel this, I finally got to galeem after tons of laboring, I thought it wa slong enough as it was. Then when dharkon came it killed it for me for a long while, maybe a year later I plowed through what I had left (2/3 of the routes) of dark world then got to the final world and have not picked it back up since

Samus Returns came out in the dying days of the 3DS and it was made by the same team as Dread, so I can absolutely see them bringing it over!

I'm still hoping we'll get a game with the Galactic Federation as the villains. After the reveals in Fusion and given Samus's current biological state, it would make sense, keep things fresh, and make it a personal journey for Samus. Also that way they could reuse EMMIs.

But I wouldn't be averse to Space Pirates, if they're committed to keeping Ridley (and Metroids and Mother Brain) dead they'd need a new figurehead though.

I can totally see the GF evil stuff, they were basically re-creating metroids as bioweapons as shown in fusion (For "peaceful applications only" my ass). Or at least well-intentioned extremist territory that samus takes it upon herself to put a stop to it.

I would be most down for a fusion remake just because isn't it the only mainline metroid that hasn't gotten one? ZM was a metroid 1 remake after all, though I'd still be happy with a ZM remake. Bottom line though is that this game just feels good to play, so they should definitely crank another something out, whether it's a remake or metroid 6. Since Metroids are allegedly done with their role in the story, maybe they can move to more space pirate-centric? Maybe they make a new weapon or something that samus has to stop.

You know what I just had a thought about? I want to see the biggest asspull fitting for ash's final challenge.

Yeah KD is undeniably an all time great player, and sometimes players like that don't win the accompanying level of championships because winning those is hard. Any argument that he can't carry a team are bad imo, things just don't work out a lot of the time. Honestly, I don't think KD would have gotten quite the same vitriol (some, but not as much) if the superteam he went to wasn't the one that had just beaten him in the playoffs.

Even Lebron couldn't carry cleveland alone in his prime, you have to have some sort of supporting cast if you're gonna win anything that's just how it is, and even then it can not be enough (Those same warriors lost in the finals during their 73 win season). KD's behavior is more of an indictment on him than his performance.

Seymour also tried to merge with sin and actively destroy everything, that could very easily have been the final boss instead of braska's final aeon and I think is probably more important for the setting's health, seymour controlling sin is probably worse than just letting sin's cycle continue as is. So I'm going to say seymour.

It's hard for me to say yu yevon is the villain despite him creating the cycle, because the reason he did that was to defeat a nation he was at war with.

I am so over KD at this point. He and Kyrie have held the franchise hostage from day 1 and are directly responsible for the state of current affairs. If you don't think nash has been a good coach I get that, but Marks has done nothing but suck KD and Kyrie's cock ever since they got there and now KD just decides he's had enough? Marks did nothing to him.

Though I'm loathe to say it, the only way the nets get out of this at all is if KD decides to play anyway, and gives them time for a team to get desperate and give them what they gave for Harden. The nets need to trade him for a haul much more than KD needs to play anymore basketball, he could just sit and be done. If he does that, the nets are boned. Ultimately though, I'm rooting for the meteor, because KD and kyrie and simmons are all lame, and the nets are also lame for reneging on not letting kyrie play unvaccinated.

Also, p sure Kyrie was the one who said that stuff, durant has been mostly quiet over his tenure there. Kyrie was the one who went AWOL for a time there after nash was announced as coach.

Honestly I'd be surprised if ash's dad is even alive. How many seasons in are we? If ash's dad is really just off gallivanting about all this time, when he'd have had plenty o freason to visit ash beforehand after his many notable achievements, that would feel like a major "Why though" moment to me.

I have mixed feelings on that. I did see that when I read up on it a little last night, but I don't know that as a Judge you should be able to tell the jury he's committing perjury. It's his testimony to make, even if it's full of outright lies and bullshit. But I would expect if it got to this point it was particularly egregious with him just outright saying one thing and then saying the complete opposite during the same testimony repeatedly. That wouldn't shock me if that was the case.

Like usually if a Judge tells you to stop lying then they may as well just throw out the entire testimony, which is the issue with it. Because you're making the judgment for the jury. It's all "under oath" but if you lack any morals that's more of a suggestion than a truth. I have a hard time seeing any jury side with him after that though.

Honestly, while I get where you're coming from, I see it as more the judge just stating what everyone already knew by that point. And that message isn't also saying "YOu should not believe anything this man says going forward" just stating a fact that he already lied. It's still on the jury to decide if they're going to believe what is said going forward imo. I don't believe a single one of those jurors had their minds changed in any way by the judge saying what she said. If one of them didn't already realize he was committing perjury then they shouldn't be on a jury.

So, they went outside the box and hired an outside judge of their own volition...and are now on the very first case that judge hears, appealing that judge's decision.
