Apparently, he might be able to come back and play, recovery dependent. He might be placed on the four-week non-football-related inactive list.

Seems like two teenage punks tried to rob him and he took them on. I mean... an NFL running back can definitely take two punks. He wrestled one gun away and threw it but got shot by the other guy, and both are being monitored during an ongoing investigation.

Scary stuff. I feel for the guy and hope this doesn't derail his career.

I will be doing mine yeah, but still what, another week of preseason? I kinda want to wait till that's done with cause I don't really want another major injury to happen and have a ton of people switching since that's more work.

Yeah, the season doesn't start for another week or so.

Some are old friends. Runemistress is my wife. I tend to rope people into it so we have a decent number, but even that's been going down lately. Which is another reason I might not do it this year. I feel it's becoming kind of redundant.

We actually had 27 in 2019. Down to 17 last year.

I think it started at 20 but 3 people dropped off fairly fast so that makes sense

I might host something a bit different this year. Something less time consuming. Not sure if people'd be interested though.

Essentially you predict the score of two teams each week (you can't pick the same team twice until week 17). They don't have to be playing each other. Then you get points based on the differential, with lower scores being better.

So you might say:
Chiefs - 24
Browns - 10

And then the Chiefs go and score 28 points, and the Browns score 17.

You'd then get 11 points for the week.

Someone else might have
Jets - 14
Bills - 34

And then the Jets go and score 21 points, and the Bills score 28. They'd have 13 points.

And the standings would look like this:

1st - User A: 11 points
2nd - User B: 13 points

If he is bad this game the blowback from people looking to put him in his place will be enormous

If he gets outplayed by Jacoby Brisset he should probably just retire.

That mindset is exactly what I fear. It will be one game, in a new offense with new receivers. The potential is definitely there for him to underperform in THIS game, but I don't think that people should just jump to conclusions that he is therefore ass like they've been saying all along. Obviously he's put himself in this situation by running his mouth, but ultimately I am willing to give it some time and see, if he does go out and lay a stinker week 1, if he can adjust as the season goes on. I hope people won't start talking **** until like...week 6.

That will never happen though.

Yeah but lesser of two evils sorta thing. Baker can be obnoxious but the browns are basically a pariah right now. (Never mind that the panthers also tried to sign watson)

Lots of fans have agreed to root against the Browns all year, even when playing divisional rivals. Even some Browns fans have turned on the team for signing Watson.

I live in Ohio and can confirm that the Bengals have doubled in fanbase size.

No I think the best scenario for people is Baker sucks but the Browns are so bad the Panthers win in spite of Baker is what I'm saying.

One of the NFL's official podcasts on their own website, Around the NFL, had a Browns fan on it who has completely revoked his fandom. They were wondering how easy it would be for him to stick with that decision, but he's said as the preseason has started, it's actually been easier than he thought. It's just been kind of a relief, more than anything.

I think it's not that they signed him that's so offensive. It's that they signed him to ridiculous amount of guaranteed money, but also made it so being suspended would cost him nothing. That's what makes it feel so much worse to a lot of people. I actually think it's a good thing for the NFL (and sports in general) if Watson did nothing to live up to that contract.

Imagine if this is the kind of contract Vick got when he came back to the league. People already wanted him to fail but it'd have been like 50 times worse.

Right, this is the issue. Honestly I'd rather he not be on a team at all but the fact that they can structure contracts to allow players to dodge what the fine should be is a joke. They know how much guaranteed money is in the deal so there should be no issue in using an average value for fine purposes.

Browns fans should just be Jags fans its basically the same experience

I.... think it's that they signed him at all. The money made it worse, but money aside, and this year aside, the team basically forced fans to ask themselves, do I care about winning more than care about rooting for someone who has allegedly done these things? and not just rooting for the team with him on it, but have him be the center of it all, the face of the franchise? Have my kids wear his jersey? etc. And the answer for a lot of people is no.

Granted, fans have turned a blind eye to similar things before, but in this case, there's no hiding it, there's no pretending that he's just a cog in the machine of the team and the team isn't really about that. He will touch the ball on every play, he will be in all the promos, he will be in all the media clips. And then beyond that, you have to sign up to be behind future decisions made by a front office that thought this decision was an okay one.

I second this... Eagles and Saints are two teams with LOADED rosters that may just be held back by coaches or injuries

Basically everything about the browns pursuit of him is wrong. The whole "We want an adult at qb" and going after a serial molester, spurning the qb in the process, who actually is the most successful one they had in a long time, the guaranteed money, all of it. They handled 0 the correct way here.

Pretty much no one but the most hardcore of Browns fans will be rooting for them, yes. They managed to turn the CLEVELAND BROWNS into the biggest "villain" in all of American sports.
