Preseason predictions that don't matter at all

AFC East

  1. Bills
  2. Dolphins
  3. Patriots
  4. Jets

Bills are really good. Dolphins should be pretty good. I think the Patriots will be largely mediocre. The Jets are still the Jets.

AFC North

  1. Bengals
  2. Ravens
  3. Steelers
  4. Browns
The Bengals should be even better this year. It felt like they were ahead of schedule last year, but they are still the Bengals. Ravens should be solid as long as Lamar remains healthy, but they have no offense if he gets hurt. Steelers will be ugly and painful to watch and hopefully won't steal a playoff spot again this year. The Browns will be better once Watson comes back, but it'll be too little, too late after 11 weeks of Brisset.

AFC South

  1. Titans
  2. Colts
  3. Jaguars
  4. Texans

Not gonna lie, definitely worried about the Titans. Losing AJ Brown is a big blow to the offense and Landry being out for the season is a big blow on defense. I'm just tired of the Colts though. Every year since Luck retired, people keep expecting them to be better than they are, and I'm not a believer in Matt Ryan. Jaguars might be sneaky not terrible this season. The Texans will be not so sneaky terrible.

AFC West

  1. Chiefs
  2. Chargers
  3. Broncos
  4. Raiders

The Chiefs are the top dogs until someone beats them. Speaking of overhyped, I feel like the media has fallen in love with the Chargers every year for the past decade, only for them to inevitably get in their own way and underachieve. I think they'll at least make the playoffs this year, but I won't believe in anything more until I see it. Broncos/Raiders is a tough call. I still think Russ has some good years left in him, and that should be enough as long as the defense plays up to expectations. The Raiders have some big holes that will probably wind up costing them in the end.

NFC East

  1. Eagles
  2. Cowboys
  3. Giants
  4. Commanders

I said I was worried about the Titans, but I'm even more worried about Dallas. I think the Eagles hype has gotten out of control, but with a Dallas regression likely (the defense can't be as surprisingly good as it was last year, them losing Gregory is going to be a bigger blow than people realize), they should still come out on top. The Giants are my NFC sneaky not terrible pick, and I think the Commies will just be bad as Wentz continues his downward spiral.

NFC North

  1. Packers
  2. Vikings
  3. Lions
  4. Bears

I do like the Vikings, but not by enough to pick them to overthrow the Packers quite yet. It's just hard to justify taking Cousins over Rodgers, and Green Bay's D should be really good. The Lions are (somehow) getting way too much hype this year, but at least they won't be the Bears, who have nothing on offense other than trotting out Justin Fields to get killed every week.

NFC South

  1. Saints
  2. Bucs
  3. Panthers
  4. Falcons

Something feels off about Tampa Bay this year. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it feels like a team that could implode this season. Also, Brady with a bad offensive line feels like a big problem. The Saints have a lot of talent if Winston can minimize his bad plays. The Panthers will be just okay this year with Baker, and the Falcons will be so bad I won't be surprised if they have a package ready to use Patterson at QB at some point.

NFC West

  1. Rams
  2. 49ers
  3. Cardinals
  4. Seahawks

I'm honestly not crazy about any of these teams. The Rams won the Super Bowl, but it's not like they were something overwhelming either (they were the 4 seed, after all). The 49ers have some weird drama that I don't care for bringing Jimmy G back, and I don't think Trey Lance is ready to lead this team anywhere significant yet. The Cards are giving off even worse vibes, and I don't trust them at all. The Seahawks literally have a QB depth chart of Geno Smith and Drew Lock.

I'm actually not LOL

I've never been a Brady hater. It's fun to make jokes when he loses, but I do that with pretty much any team, including my own!

I do think the first half of that Rams game should be cause for concern for how this season might go at times. Something just doesn't feel right with that team. They might figure it out and be fine in the end, but it's weird right now.

I think there is cause for concern about the bucs ability to make it deep with our current Oline health I just don't think there is as many question marks on our roster as the Saints, who are good and who will probably sweep us AGAIN tbf.

Although Maybe Brady finally falls of that cliff. I guess technically he is not a cyborg of some kind so maybe.

I actually think your Broncos in third take is hotter though x)

Some reply comments...

I like the Bengals team on paper, but do they buck the super bowl loser hangover trend while also competing against a Ravens team that can't possibly be as injured as last year? Although Lamar is obviously essential, I would also say if their secondary stays healthy, yikes that is a scary team to play.

On the Titans... I've found it consistently hilarious & typical this offseason how much people have written off the Titans. It's like by losing AJ Brown we are back at square 1 even though actually, not much besides that changed and passing was never the identity of the team. Will there be a gap left by Brown? Sure, but there's no reason Titans won't be pushing Colts for first place in the division.

And the Colts, I do think Matt Ryan is potentially the best of the one-year QBs they've had the last three years, but you're 100% right that the Colts are always the media darling for some reason in terms of predicting their ascension. It seems like given equal situations people just favor the Colts by default for some reason.

And real quick on the Saints - I think it's still the Bucs division. Dennis Allen doesn't seem a coach who will reign in Jameis. Probably more like (ironically?) when he was on the Bucs

  1. Cowboys
  2. Eagles
  3. Commanders
  4. Giants
Cowboys are flawed but I don't buy into the Eagles. Eagles have a good shot at a wild card (it helps to have Washington and the Giants to beat up on). Other two are bad and a dump. Giants will bench Jones by their bye week and overhaul their entire roster after the season.

  1. Packers
  2. Vikings
  3. Bears
  4. Lions

One team has Aaron Rodgers. The other teams... Yeah one team has Aaron Rodgers. It's the Packers and three sub-500 teams.

  1. Rams
  2. 49ers
  3. Cardinals
  4. Seahawks

Cardinals will do what they usually do and start strong before imploding down the stretch. Seahawks are in full on tank mode. 49ers will be up and down early and probably be third for most of the year until Arizona inevitably falls off a cliff.

  1. Buccaneers
  2. Saints
  3. Panthers
  4. Falcons

Bucs are still the best team here. Saints are a sneaky wild card contender if the Eagles or Cardinals leave an opening. Panthers aren't good (but they're better than Washington) and Atlanta is hell bent on that #1 pick.

  1. Bills
  2. Patriots
  3. Dolphins
  4. Jets

Bills are going to wrap this division up quickly. Patriots will take a step back, this will be Tua's last year as Miami's starter, and the Jets will be improved but it won't show on their record.

  1. Ravens
  2. Bengals
  3. Steelers
  4. Browns

Ravens were obliterated by injury before last season even started. Bengals overachieved and will slide back a bit, but the AFC (outside of the west) is weak and they'll get a wild card. Steelers will be sneaky not-bad but still won't keep up, and the Browns are getting Watson back too late for their season to amount to anything.

  1. Chiefs
  2. Chargers
  3. Broncos
  4. Raiders

KC's schedule is ridiculous but they are still KC. Chargers are loaded with talent but effectively haven't proven crap and could go from anywhere between 8-12 wins and not surprise me. Broncos are super overhyped for a team that's going to end right around .500. Raiders are fairly a good team but their division is ridiculous.

  1. Titans
  2. Colts
  3. Jaguars
  4. Texans

Titans will backslide hard... And still win the division. If this were 5-years-younger Matt Ryan I'd at least be more inclined to trust the Colts, but I see the Colts ending this year in roughly the same spot they did last year.

NFC:

  1. Packers
  2. Rams
  3. Buccaneers
  4. Cowboys
  5. 49ers
  6. Eagles
  7. Cardinals
  8. Saints

AFC:

  1. Bills
  2. Chiefs
  3. Ravens
  4. Titans
  5. Bengals
  6. Chargers
  7. Patriots
  8. Colts

Can I just say, and yes I am biased as a panthers fan, but I feel like everyone is equating this year's team with last year's when they basically are not the same. Mccaffrey was out most of last year, we have him back. Baker is an upgrade over darnold. We upgraded the offensive line. We get our 1st rd pick from last year, arguably our best CB, back after he missed all of last year.

Last year's abysmal record does not reflect the team we are on paper this season. I get that if you aren't a believer in baker like I am then that hampers expectations quite a bit, but I think it's a stretch to say this team is flat out not good.

I have no trust in the Panthers to win tomorrow.

And apparently no one does because last I knew the spread dropped to a PK.

And if there's one popular suicide pick on going nowhere near this week, it's the Titans. They have such a recipe for starting the game slow and letting the Giants hang around.

If there's one team I have on "upset alert" though, it's the Bengals. People are writing off the Steelers much too easily. There are 0 people picking them, but I would not be surprised in the slightest if they won. I paused when picking that game.

Given what this team did with the shambling corpse of Roethlisberger I can't say I'd be shocked to see then sneak into the playoffs at like, 9-8. The AFC 7 seed will not be strong.

I kinda just feel like the team has eroded since last year, and the Ravens aren't already in shambles before the season starts this time. Feels like a 7-10 or 8-9 team that isn't an easy out for anyone.
