Just to expand on what reaver said:

As a remake of the first game, Kiwami suffers a bit from clinging to the original simple story and low-key tone. I feel the added content goes a little too over the top to compensate for it.

Kiwami 2 is a much more tonally consistent game. Also it's made in the new Dragon Engine, which is an upscale on the graphics. A lot of people also hold 2's story in the highest regard. It's not my personal favorite, but it's still a good story.

They're both good. There are no bad Yakuza games.

Disagree
Noted.

I'm hardly suggesting that it's the rule that people typically follow. Goodness knows a good majority of posts about today's issues are made without a lick of research and kneejerk reactions.

If you want to be taken seriously, though. Might be a good idea.

If you misgender someone, and someone lets you know, the proper response is "Sorry, I'll fix it/not do it again", not getting indignant that you've been found incorrect and trying to make excuses.

It's literally that simple. It just requires a tiny fraction of loss of pride.

If a stranger has a male name, or a female name - that's generally how regular people refer to their gender. If the name is genderless like Pat then people will ask to confirm their gender - "oh, is that short for Patrick or Patricia?"

News: "Summer has died."
People: "I feel sad about her dying."

That's just how the world works.
Would you be this indignant if it turned out they went by male pronouns?

Would you be this indignant if you got another fact of the case incorrect and someone corrected you?

Because that's what is most important right now? Person loses their life unnecessarily and people are getting upset that this person with a female name is being referred to as female?
Not bothering to learn anything about the person is an effort to unperson them, to treat them as a number and not a life.

Wait, why would anyone fire someone accused of rape for being a racist?

But to answer your second paragraph in what I believe was the intended spirit, you're assuming no fact-checking has taken place because you weren't involved.

Let us take one of the recent scandals surrounding EVO. Mr. Joey Cullar was removed from his position not long after the allegations were made. Was this done because the others in charge of EVO saw the accusation, immediately believed it, and removed Mr. Cullar? Or did they do their own internal investigation (which may have involved direct questioning of Mr. Cullar) and come to the conclusion that the accusation was credible?

Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

yes within reasonable thresholds, like someone with a good history accidentally slipping the n-word. Extreme edge cases are handled separately where getting fired is plausible
How does one "accidentally" say the n-word?

I admit I didn't expect you to actually address the absurd notion that laws could be drafted that protected "racism within reason".

it's not the solution, and it can ruin people's lives. People can change their attitudes without getting fired. Something like a suspension without pay is a good warning

So many of the "first recordings" of these games existing were proclamations by governments that they were banned.

Cards and other games that could be used for gambling. Heck, even golf's first Scotland record was King James II banning it because it distracted from archery.

My favorite so far is hanafuda. Cards came to Japan via the Portuguese and Japan kept banning cards, and locals just changed the cards so they looked different, making them more abstract and looking like art up to the point where we have hanafuda cards, which take a week to explain what each card means to other people.

Why would I intentionally go look for people like that?
To back up the point you're making.

Anyway, I think an assumption that all of society has suddenly become completely unforgiving is an exaggeration. Forgiveness is still a thing that a lot of people are capable of. Furthermore, the less known you are, the easier it will be to find new opportunities in an environment that hasn't heard of you or pre-judged you.

If anything, there are some of us who forgive too easily simply so we can go about our lives, but that's a different argument.
