SMT is always gameplay over story.

I would append to this by saying that there are a lot of smaller stories in the game, where you get a look at the lives and aspirations of certain demons, many of which track to their own mythology.

But for starters, just focus on staying alive.

Get your demons. Mash them together to make new ones. Don't become too attached. Demons gain experience a lot more slowly than you. The "but he's a good demon" struggle is real.

Save often. It's not uncommon for a single random battle to go from fully loaded to "you dead".

Which doesn't really mean anything. Kiryu goes to hostess clubs for many mysterious reasons.

Wellllll it's one of those things that is subject to interpretation.

First consider that canonically (which is to say outside of minigames and substories), Kiryu has only pursued two women in his entire life and there was never any implication of sex between them.

As for Yakuza 0, consider that Kiryu is still barely an adult (twenty years old) which may be too early for him to self determine his sexuality. He may be doing these things because he thinks they're things he should do at his age. Going through the motions, as it were.

Honestly, it's like asking if Solid Snake is asexual. We just aren't presented enough material in the canon to make a determination one way or the other.

EDIT: Oh and I see that while I was typing this up, Solid Snake came up anyway.

By the current societal definition of race (which was established and maintained by white power holders going back to the time of slavery and beyond), and given the limited information TC has given us ("Asian" covers a wide variety of cultures), he would most likely be "Asian", because common parlance is to look at someone's skin tone and physical features to determine their race, regardless of how accurate this would be in a more diverse world of peoples.

What "race" means is malleable and could change in the future, and it has meant different things in the past in different subsets.

For example, in the obvious context that TC is using, they would be referring to Nazi Germany's use of "Jewish" as a race, a line of thinking that has been largely routed.

They share a lot of minigames, actually, but Yakuza LAD has a lot more new stuff to the series.

Smash is just the gold tier standard of character trailers and deep dives. I think even Sakurai admitted that the trailers were more expensive than making the characters.

And when he switched to just deep dive presentations everyone loved it. Gonna miss that.

I really enjoy Tale of Two Rulers (Zelda and Ganondorf get politically married alt timeline) because it's fantastic art and the writer actually did think a lot about how it would play out.

Think of it. I'm gonna say that strengthens my theory about the execs just wanting to go go go on this and then EVERYONE at the company was like WHAT ARE YOU DOING.

I gotta imagine it was a complete myopia for Team17. Their execs must have just not seen the blowback towards Ubi, not been paying attention to the news wires on this. Like Ubi, they had a money guy (either internal financial, or more likely, another young C-suite guy who follows financial trends) and listened to them, saw the quick rake, and went for it.

I can almost guarantee none of the developers, designers, programmers, any of those people were onboard.
