Like most everyone's still here at the office, but nobody really has any deadline motivation because holidays.

We have a new safety director coming on site in January, so the order of the day is "prepare it but don't finish it because the new director will have to look at it".

So I'm sitting on a pantload of 90% completed projects and can't check off any of them, and I'm hesitant to start new ones to overload the new director.

It was the other way around. They were impressed enough with his work on TLJ that they gave him his own trilogy.

Also Abrams was originally not going to be the director for Ep IX, so calling it "his" trilogy is a little inaccurate.

I really feel that 2015 was kind of a banner year for them. It's even referred to on the fan wiki as the "golden age".

It had Super Mario RPG. It had Silent Hill 2. It had Bloodborne. RE Rev2. MKX. Ride to Hell. Star Fox Adventures. Undertale.

Oddly, it had no David Cage games.

I think one of the things that makes me feel bad about it the most is not so much that these particular guys won't be working together any more, and it's not so much that I don't have a 3PM and 9PM scheduled thing to do.

For me, I feel that the SBF represented a kind of idea of something great, or maybe it was more of an "ideal". Something that's not in my own life: one or two friends that I could sit down and talk to about video games for hours. Exchange ideas. Talk about experiences, how the games made me feel, how I made my way through them. Enjoying interesting parts of the games with people to process with, rather than just having feelings about games and just having them float out to the ether with no one to respond to them or challenge me on them.

Frankly, it's one of the reasons I stay on CE at all: I just can't talk about games the same with people I know in real life.

Watching and listening to the SBF, I could at least get that vicariously. I could get a contact high off their own elation and frustration.

And then to be reminded of reality. That relationships sour. That money gets in the way, that ideas and goals clash and can cause friction. It darkens the whole concept for me, and I wish I had someone I could truly process this with.

Maybe I'll put out the word at MAGFest for a SBF support group, because I know there are fans that go there. Maybe we can all get together and have a good cry about it. :)

Saying they aren't best friends anymore seems kind of blunt.

One can speculate all day, but the facts stand that as early as this Monday on the podcast they were planning for longer term stuff on the channel (prepping for new LPs, prepping new merchandise). On Friday, they abruptly announced that they weren't posting their Smash Ultimate video due to "urgent circumstances", and this morning, that video appeared.

"Something happened" seems an understatement.

Also, why did the previous member leave?

He cited his own mental health issues trying to keep to the schedule of regular uploading and the workload.

I don't know how you can follow Pat and Paige and assume anything is normal about that relationship.

I mean, we're all feeling things right now, so I'll give your little outburst a pass in general, but I do find it odd that a sweet and loving couple irks you while a relationship with a major base on mutually doled out abuse (which works for them and that's fine) is what you picture as "normal".

Other people have been saying it, but the thing that hits harder than the channel ending is "Matt and Pat are no longer friends".

That's a gut punch. That's the kind of thing that's going to start rumors and speculation as for how long the two of them have just been coasting on professionalism rather than actually enjoying the time spent with each other.
