There was also another Tanahashi appearance in Revue Starlight's chibi short spin-off, plus a Togi Makabe cameo in the V series of Cardfight Vanguard. I disliked Ino a bit less after hearing her backstory, but I still don't like her overall and I thought she added very little to the show, so Hayasaka remained best girl until the very end. However, Ishigami got catapulted up to best boy after hearing his backstory and his smile must be protected at all costs. Only it's about a low ranking grunt from an evil organization. The synopsis I read didn't seem interesting to me at all, and I actually didn't know it was by the Konosuba and Kemono Michi author until recently. It took me learning that, me already dropping five other shows this season (with two more still on the fence), weeks of Caelthus' constant bitching, and it getting a dub for me to finally watch it... and after all that, the first episode I watched today was honestly just mediocre. I even re-watched the episode subbed to see if it was just a bad dub not doing it justice, but the Japanese version was even less funny to me. I've starting to think that CLAMP really wanted to make a BL anime but no one would take their idea, so they went to Bushiroad and worked out a way to disguise a BL anime as a card game anime... and that's how we got Vanguard OverDress. I'm not really feeling this show at all, so I'm dropping it. Blue Reflection Ray is on thin ice as well. I've given this show a long leash because it's a two-cour show and I'm a sucker for "cute girls doing action things" anime, but it's all style with no substance and not even a hint of a decent story yet. Apparently the Demon Slayer movie is available digitally through the Playstation store on PS4, and he was able to buy it and is watching it as we speak. I've had multiple people who have PS5's check and tell me that they don't see it, so the fact that it's only there on PS4 and not PS5 makes me think it might be an accidental early release that will get pulled off the store until the actual release date. Good. The fact that it's an original anime means it'll have a defined (and usually satisfactory) ending and not a carrot-on-a-stick "go read the manga/LN for more" non-ending. Out of my top 10 favorite anime of all time, 7 of them are original anime, and an 8th is based on a LN but fully adapts the LN all the way to the very last chapter. Meanwhile, No Game No Life would be in my top 10 if it didn't have such a blatant "go read the LN for more" non-ending, but that shitty non-ending and near-zero hope for a sequel dropped it several places on my list. I was lucky enough that the theater was only like half-full for both of those, and aside from one dude who showed up to the DSOD showing dressed as Yugi being told to take off his wig (it was tall and blocking the view for people right behind him) and immediately complying, there were no problems whatsoever. The show is just kinda "meh" so far, plus it looks like the gore is going to become more noticeable instead of being just blood splatters like it was through the first three episodes. A shame that a really good OP/ED by Raise A Suilen is going to waste on this mediocre show. On a side note, I've officially switched from using MyAnimeList to track my anime watching to using Anilist instead. That already happened once this season with Vivy, but that's an original anime with no source material to gauge based on, so I took that risk. 86 has source material, I asked about it, and the people who read the LN told me it has some gore later that might be too much for me. Maybe the anime will tone it down or won't show it. Maybe the LN readers were exaggerating a bit. Maybe the gore does happen but not until later in the series.
