I hadn't watched much anime in recent years due to mostly reading VNs which kind of filled the anime gap for me. Now though as of the past year or so I'm starting back up, and this is like the first season in a while that I'm watching newly airing anime. Now it's usually just 1-2 series followed week-by-week per season, plus the long-running stuff I still follow all the time like Kamen Rider and Yokai Watch. The baseball fan in me was absolutely disgusted at how Toua ~~turned that game into an absolute mockery of the sport with at least half a dozen rules being broken~~ but the anime fan in me was still cheering it on the whole time because the mind games were so intense. The synopsis I read didn't seem interesting to me at all, and I actually didn't know it was by the Konosuba and Kemono Michi author until recently. It took me learning that, me already dropping five other shows this season (with two more still on the fence), weeks of Caelthus' constant bitching, and it getting a dub for me to finally watch it... and after all that, the first episode I watched today was honestly just mediocre. I even re-watched the episode subbed to see if it was just a bad dub not doing it justice, but the Japanese version was even less funny to me. Pretty crazy over the top. ~~Lupin disguising himself as literal Hitler was pretty unexpected.~~ The only Lupin I had really seen prior to this was the Castle of Cagliostro movie and the episodes that used to air on Adult Swim back in the early 2000s, so not sure how over the top the series typically gets. There's a lot of potential playable characters with wildly different weapons and fighting styles too. Just the nine Symphogear users shown in the anime (Hibiki, Tsubasa, Chris, Maria, Kirika, Shirabe, Kanade, ~~Miku~~, and ~~Serena~~) allow for like 20 different possible movesets through various alternate forms. Throw in villains like Carol and capable side characters like Genjuro and you could make a roster of 30+ characters even without digging into the alternate universe stuff seen in the XDU mobile game. I disliked Ino a bit less after hearing her backstory, but I still don't like her overall and I thought she added very little to the show, so Hayasaka remained best girl until the very end.
