| Calwings 04/09/21 5:00:00 PM #303 | Quite a busy day of new episodes for me today. * Dr. Stone: Stone Wars ep6 (dub): Kind of ironic that an episode of a Japanese anime has one of the best and most realistic depictions of the American justice system that I've ever seen. Awesome episode though, one of Chrome's crowning moments. * Back Arrow ep14: Fine Alter and Emperor Zetsu are a perfect pair of complete fucking psychopaths, but Fine regained control and had a badass moment of her own. Best boy Shu's genius mind comes through again as well. Great stuff. * Shaman King (2021) ep2: I never watched/read the original series all those years ago, so I'm coming into this reboot completely blind like I did the Fruits Basket reboot. Yoh and Amidamaru are great, Ren is so comically early-2000's edgy that I can't help but laugh at it, and Anna already seems pretty interesting too. Manta is annoying though, and the animation seems pretty mediocre so far, so it's not all good, but I'm enjoying it overall. * The World Ends With You ep1: I played the original game, but I never beat it and barely remember much of it anyways, so this anime is basically a new experience for me. The story felt pretty rushed (like Assault Lily levels of rushed) but at least it seems interesting so far. The dub just straight-up never finished. They didn't dub the last season and (IIRC) the place where the dub left off was a horrible cliffhanger that would be an awful ending point for the anime. Watch it subbed if you want to actually enjoy GX for being an actual anime with a semi-coherent story. That being said, it's worth at least watching highlights of the dub, because the GX dub is one of the stupidest (but in a good way) dubs in history. I tried saucenao, I tried iqdb, I tried yandex, I tried ascii2d, I tried google images, I tried bing images, I tried going on a 4chan archive site and seeing if anyone else had posted the same image anywhere, I tried searching the specific characters' tags on multiple booru sites and on pixiv... and I found literally nothing. The change in the narrator's style was a huge step up for me (god bless Ian Sinclair) and the voice acting and English script are amazing too. It was actually the 4th or 5th Camilla alt (and just the general over-focus on Fates/Awakening in comparison to the other FE games) that made me quit playing FEH and uninstall it. I can handle some dark stories just fine. Hell, my favorite anime of all time also has a huge massacre in the first episode similar to what happened at the start of Vivy.
