One time, long ago, me and my brother were playing a demo of Hot Shots Golf and we were on the 8th hole or thereabouts. I recall it being a par 5 with a big honkin' water hazard right in the middle, and 2 shots in, I was on the shores of said water hazard. My next shot...ball soared straight and true, hit the flag stick, and dropped in the hole for an eagle. My brother was already pissed that I was beating him at it (I was winning by a couple of strokes, I think), but me getting a chip-in eagle just tore it. He rage-quit and stormed out of the room.

Until almost 2 years ago come January, I usually came in despite how I felt. There was one time before then my supervisor told me to go home because she was sure I was running a fever.

Since that particular day, I've called in when I knew I didn't feel well enough to come in. I don't go using sick leave willy-nilly, though. I save it for when I really need it.

I'm a Navy brat (Dad was in the Navy for 23 years), but I never was in shape for the military, nor was I interested in joining - while Dad was in the Navy, it meant having to relocate every so often. By the time I was 10, I had more than enough of moving and wanted to stay put.
