It's retail work atm, though my current issue is not so much pay (it's always going to be shit with my lack of education/skills) but the intentional drip-feed of hours... I used to work in a kitchen at an assisted living facility but I have pretty horrific allergic reactions to cleaning and hygiene agents used in professional settings (even at the retail place I work at, I can't use the soap there, it burns like you wouldn't believe). Took a significant pay and hour dip as a result. I'm lucky in that I live with other people including family, but it means I basically can't afford anything at all.
