Even though it's certainly the same amount of boosters per conquest round as playing regular games, it still feels so nice to see like 40 boosters pile on the card you want all at once after the conquest game is over

New Galactus is interesting, maybe? I don't think he'll be as fun to play against tbh. The whole challenge was throwing prio, but now you're essentially guaranteed prio. Nimrod and Wolverine become the best combo with him since they avoid Shang. Not really sure the best way to counter him now other than throwing down a lot of power. I think this mostly evens out his gameplay so it's a little more samey to play and to counter-play. I guess that's good for people who didn't enjoy the drastic change in gameplay, but I liked it.

Maria Hill is almost a nerf? Getting a 2-cost makes it way harder to fill in a curve on T3/4. The Quinjet combo becomes super strong, but it definitely hurts her ability to be slotted into virtually any deck.

Dazzler is very interesting and I might want her in my Surfer deck. With 2 full locations she's already stronger than Maximus, and I often have 3 full.

My dumb ass thought that conquest was only open the last week of the month but I'm realizing now that the Infinite tier is the one that's locked until the end of the month.

Conquest seems a lot more fun that the regular ranked battles.

The Galactus change wasn't enough, it still turns into a dumb game of whether or not you've built up your lanes enough to counter him on turn 4.

If they wave on 3 and they have priority then it's identical to the previous cases except now Galactus is more powerful. And they're still going to Spider-Man on turn 5 so you're going to lose.

So the counterplay now is trying to get priority for turn 4, try to predict which lane they're going to play Galactus and play a big card so they're not winning that lane. Or Debrii still works too obviously but now you don't have to put her in every deck if you have a card you can play with more than 7 power.

Listen I played a good amount of Galactus when I first got him too and had fun but it's ridiculous now. Over 75% of my games being Galactus is ruining the game right now.

And most of them are playing Destroyer so countering with Debrii isn't even reliable anymore.

Also I'm not sure that Galactus change is actually a nerf.

If Galactus player has priority and plays on an empty lane they will win the lane from the Galactus flip and now his lane is beefier.

Tbh they should start with overnerfing Galactus at first because he's so toxic to the game right now, and then try to buff him once they see how he shakes out. 7 strength is a bit much imo.

I guess what it prevents is wiping a stacked lane for free. I think the idea is good but make him like 6/4. Galactus player always wants priority so the fact that he'll add his power then calculate when he has priority means he usually goes off anyway

I think overpowering him a bit now means people will continue to play him, so they can good data for the next OTA tweak. If they gave him 4 or 5 power they would risk everyone dropping him instantly.

1st test with Galactus and yep its exactly the same.

This nerf needed to kill Galactus out of the game. Just give us a break for 2 months if you want to fix him later. Now they'll put him in the fixed pile and leave him alone for 4 months.

But honestly, the problem isn't even really Galactus. It's mana cheat, just like it always is in every card game to ever exist.

If you actually had to play Galactus on turn 6 then they could turn him into a fun archetype where you need to win 1 lane by a lot or buff him up all game. Then there would be counter play you have 6 turns to play (instead of 2-3) like Cosmo or Goose.

Playing Galactus on 4 and then locking the lane with Spider-Man on 5 is the real problem.

That would kinda play into the move archetype that Spider cards all seem to have. Spider-Man webs down a lane for both players on turn 5 and then you use your Spiders to get cards into your lane. Make him a 5/7 and I could see that working.

I feel like it should have an exception such as "Next turn, your opponent can only play cards here if they cannot play at other locations." So Spider-Man still largely functions as intended in other decks but does not work at all for Galactus. They could probably safely revert Spider-Man to a 4-cost at that point.

I think it would be boring if they said "this card will always cost 6" and they can't make Wave say "this effects works on everyone except Galactus"

But they could do some tricky stuff like "this card will always be the highest cost card in your hand" which means when wave makes your whole hand 4-cost, he ends up being 5-cost

That sounds ridiculously counterable.

The psychology with Galactus now should be to keep 2 lanes empty, so the opponent needs to cover both with 7+ power, which is pretty difficult. If you only leave 1 lane open, any deck can mindlessly fill it with 7 power by T4 (assuming T3 Wave). If you miss T3 Wave you're definitely screwed.

But it seems kinda fun because the counter to the counter is for you to go back and win your Maw and Lizard lanes after tricking the opponent to invest their cards in your empty lane. I would def try a Klaw-based Galactus for that.

I don't think it's as easy as you think it is to get 7 power into a lane with a 2 drop and 3 drop. Especially considering that turn 2 is a 50/50 where they're going to be playing their next card if they started with Ebony Maw.

If you miss the 50/50 on turn 2 and play your 2 drop into the Lizard lane then just concede, you lost. They're going to have priority on turn 4 and unless you're playing Maximus on 3 then you're not going to get 7 power into a lane.

Also if you DO play Maximus when they Wave and completely shut down Galactus then they could just play Destroyer or another 6 drop instead of Galactus. That's the exact same way that they counter Debrii on turn 3 now.

Maybe it's just the decks I've always played but I've always been dumbfounded by the Galactus complaints. I've never had a problem with playing against Galactus, other decks were way more annoying.

In the last 2 months I saw him easily under 10% of the time during the climb to infinite but very likely under 5% of the time.
