Protip: Spright can play around shifter. I had to main 3 shifter at regionals in December because of Tearlaments.

Oh yeah, it's not the silver bullet for them like it is against some other decks, but the way I see it, it does at least slow down their recursion and forces them to use up more card advantage if they want to use Smashers.

The deck still one-card combos into whatever the hell they want but I feel I need whatever advantage I can to counter their grind game. >___>

I've seen a lot of pros lament that they've gone from a skillful tier 0 format where only the best players won (like a crazy record amount of repeat winners because of a heavy reduction of RNG and other bullshit ruining runs), to a Kashtira centric floodgate on legs format yet again.

I dunno why people were so against the idea of being able to play YGO. I feel like these ppl would rather see variety for the sake of variety

We've gone from an extremely boring format where 80% of the top tables are the exact same deck with maybe 1 card deviations for 6 months solid to a format with diversity.

IMO Kashtira's fine and all but it's pretty easily stopped with cards people already main deck. I would go so far as to say Branded and Swordsoul have an equal chance at being the best decks of the format too. On the flip side, if you weren't on Tearlaments, you had to dedicate main AND side-deck slots just to play the game.

That's what I mean by variety for the sake of variety though. Tear complexity was high enough that the match ups between the good decision makers felt particularly fun to play and watch, not to mention less jank in each deck trying to beat weird shit and more impactful choices in the side deck.

Otherwise YGO is often just like how little can you run into a deck that's basically just built to counter you and not even top. I just don't like anything competitive that allows for random loss of interesting match ups. For how "repetitive" the format was, there were so many hyped top 16s and viewership.

I think the problem with Kashtira in particular is that they exist. Sometimes they'll win the coinflip and lock your playability, and you don't draw the out. It's just not interesting. They remind me a lot of early Link Joker in Vanguard lol. Interesting concept and novelty, gets old and ruins events

I hope I can get the last 1500 for the event.

Dude then summoned Blackwing Full Armor Master and The Last Warrior from Another Planet.

Been killing it with my galaxy eyes deck with the one turn kill. I don't even summon any other monsters.

Kozmos are still doing well for me. It's hilarious how many people try to target Dark Destroyer or Forerunner with card effects only to realize "oh wait" and have to target something else, sometimes even one of their own cards.

Kozmos are kind of a lost Archtype these days. You got the sleeper deck! Also I think Kozmos have a good amount of text on them and we know a lot of players dont read XD

Exosisters are so much fun! More straightforward than I thought they would be and pretty powerful if used well. Really glad I made the deck. I havent made d shifter yet but have the UR points if need be.

@Kim_Seong-a Do you ever use a 3rd Magnifica? I got the 3rd copy off my last 10 pull. I havent really needed it so far but for a grind game it seems like it could be useful. And thanks again for piquing my interest in the deck!

I rather have crafting. In the old pokemon TCG game they let you only trade and no crafting.

Kashtira mega topped the recent team event (with hilarious team names). Seems people fucking hate Kashtira. It's stupidly expensive, and it's a don't play ygo til you hard draw the out type deck that's highly beloved by all players. Probably worse than full power Drytron, though some might disagree. Their full combo is basically unoutable by anything except like Sphere Mode and the ability to play a full play after losing your normal summon.

I actually have Super Poly with some DM fusions in there for counter. It's fucking dumb because supposedly I can't chain to DM being summoned, and DM Circle resolves b4 I get a chance to activate my set super poly. I had my prompt on and everything. Really dumb and one of the YGO lawyering that I don't have the answer to, despite knowing most rules

EDIT: You know what, now I know why, as I was typing this. They had Eternal Soul, which prevented my Super Poly from targeting the DM to use as a material. That's lame

Outside of Eternal Soul, I think it depends on whose turn it is. If they summoned DM during their turn, Magic Circle should trigger no matter what, since the turn player's optional effects take priority over the opponent's when starting a chain.

If it was your turn, yeah, under normal conditions I think you activate Super Poly and because it's a "your opponent cannot respond" card, Dark Circle can't add onto the chain despite being a trigger effect that activates during the summon response window.

...unless trigger effects take priority over non-trigger fast effects, in which case it will always proc regardless. Gosh I gotta go brush up on this

From my experience, the same fast effect priority rules seem to apply in MD. That's how chain-blocking works. You activate multiple trigger effects at the same time, and the opponent can only directly respond to the last one, so you protect the others from handtraps like Ash Blossom.

Oh yeah, the SEGOC thing is a good point. That makes sense.

I was a bit confused at first because summoning doesn't start a chain, but it makes sense that if trigger effects take precedence in one instance that they'd take precedence in others. Thanks!

How miserable would it be to start a new Master Duel account at this point?

I assume all the launch bonuses have long since expired, so starting gems must be lower than ever.

Well there is two events going on right now that can bump you up a bit more. Plus the 1st anniversary rewards. I would say it might be the best time in a while to start an alt.

Thats totally fair. Do you have any consoles? You could always have an alt that way. I use to have alts but it got a bit much to take care of. So I just have my one account now.

Not too bad. There's still a bunch of gem missions frontloaded for new players. As long as you're frugal with your gems you should be able to make at least one ladder-viable deck on day 1. (If you split your gems into multiple decks you'll probably be hard stuck in Plat for a while, though.

The real pain that you'll find is not having staples/generic power cards. When I made my alt I made two decks at the start and I was reliant on my duel pass just to get enough CP to finish a playset of Ash and 2 Called By the Grave.

But it's better to start now, probably, since the current event is so low-power, it's much easier to get some extra gems. I made an alt during the last duelist cup and...uh...it didn't go well lmao.

This game rewards playing for a lengthy period of time. You also kinda have to DL the entire game over again whenever you try, which sucks. So I don't recommend rerolling and just going with what you get. But some may disagree

It's not like olden days anymore. For the sweet, sweet price of 1500 gems (which you can get after finishing tutorial btw) you can have Dragonmaid any structure deck of your choosing.

Use that to do stuff and gems will come rolling.

Exosisters are just rolling through the XYZ fest. Already halfway done with only like 2-3 losses. I did feel bad for the last guy I played when I dropped the double evenly matched on their admittedly overbuilt up board and I deliberately made mine have nothing. They negated the first one and I had two in my opening hand. Felt nice to have an out for once.

I even beat a degenerate Rhongo player. I had never stuck around to see its full effect. But it loses material after your end phase. So I was able to survive enough to banish the bastard then make Magnefica. They scooped after that. Felt good.

I think I've hit nothing but Fish, Exosisters, or Labrynths so far tonight. Went from playing Suships (which was absolutely miserable, I don't think I managed to keep anything on the board the entire time) to declaring "fuck it, I'll be a degenerate asshole" and made Crooked Cook Exodia. Might throw some Flying "C"s in there for extra dickery.

Thats rough my dude. I didnt realize lab would be so well played and added one lightening storm into my deck since pot of prosperity is banned. It has really flummoxed some players.

Im still worried about Flying C though. I dont get why it isnt banned again. It usually has been banned in the past.

The fact that they left Flying "C" legal in this event is ridiculous, but I don't care because it doesn't affect me. I'm having fun with Kozmo and no one can stop me.

I can only guess that they're experimenting with the banlists now that theyve established they get reruns. Though there must be a better way to shake up a special format than adding cards that say "you cant play the special format" >_> ive swapped out all my DRNM for Droplets just to deal with it.

...or maybe theyre just extending an olive branch to new players who run stun out of economic necessity lol

Ive been alternating between Exosisters and Spright. Favorite part of the festival is bullying Numeron players. My Spright board ate Lava Golem and a Kaiju but still had bodies on board for Carrot and Smashers lol.

...I also ran into an Equip OTK deck that hit me with Flying C. But they bricked fierce and I whittled down their life points with Martha, Ellis, and the roach lol

Going second, I disrupt them, they end on Martha, and a set Arment / unknown

I activate Martha, summon her and Ellis and overlay into Mikailis. Now the fun begins.

CL1: Mikailis to fetch a spell
CL2: opponent activates Arment targeting their Martha
CL3: I activate Mikalis's banish targeting their Martha
CL4: they activate Imperm targeting my Mikailis
CL5 I activate Droplets, sending Mikailis to dodge the imperm

And they scoop, which is fair because they had nothing left after that and I still had my normal summon. But man, I was sweating as that chain was building. >___>

I am waiting for the degenerates to pass first.

I can do Utopia without Onomat if I don't want to make Aka-Shari and Painful Decision.

I told myself I'd stockpile my resources but I had 5k gems after finishing the event so I decided to YOLO them on the Windwitch engine.

As providence would have it, I got the entire Windwitch engine in two ten pulls! Woo!

Poured the rest into the Speedroid pack but wasn't as lucky. Did manage a second Crystal Wing and a Chanbara (CHAN CHAN BARA! CHAN BARA BARA!), but what I really wanted was Clear Wing. C'est la vie.

Tested the deck in solo and it's really fun. Double Clearwing is funny, even if it is powercrept.

Holy shit this is actually the worst I've seen from master duel. Imagine having an event focused on a certain card type, and allowing 3 of a common card that completely locks your opponent out of using that card type.

After varying success with going 2nd Adventure-Danger-Kaiju, I decided to swap to.....you guessed it, Rokkets. >_>

I miss my Dragonmaids, though.

Though the fact that Umi Control is unhit almost makes me tempted to dust mine off to rack up those useless legacy pack rewards. Just adding fuel to the trash fire. <_<
