No, everyone in the game (assuming they're not in a special class that doesn't promote at all like Thief or Dancer) should promote ASAP no matter what. Jean being an exception was for the "promote first then reclass after" situation. He should still promote ASAP because promoted classes have higher growths, and it's actually even more important for Jean because the way his skill increases his growths is that it doubles the class growths.

Yes, promotion is op. It only adds 1 to your overall lvl, meaning they don't actually gain less EXP as long as they're not already overleveled. Because every class can re-promote itself to lvl 1 advanced, there's no real point to holding back

With Jean, you can reclass first because he starts at level 1, and that means you get the growths from your desired class (which are doubled by his skill) that fit that class better. Clanne (if you avoid using him for the first several chapters and then switch him to a physical class because his strength growth is much higher) and Anna (if you reclass her to a mage because her magic growth is much higher) are borderline cases where reclassing first could also work, but they take more effort to make work. Aside from those three, yes, promote every single character you plan to use ASAP. I already talked about the reasons why earlier in this topic back in post 167.

Good to know as I also just bought the DLC. I only ended up paying $12 because I surprisingly had some funds in my Nintendo account.

I think you unlock it after chapter 6. The divine paralogues supposedly scale with your level

Dayum 2600 SP at ch 17 is a lot. Speedtaker is an obvious good one on your avo carry, Reposition from Ike is good, depending on your bond lvl, your avo tank might also appreciate Lucina's avo related skill. The one that gives up to 90 avo depending on your supports. But that's a tall order to get, not sure what the cost was. Bond required is also like lvl 13-14

I only got a few skills myself since Im never really sure what I want Ive also hoarded my stat boosting items

I did think about doing that to make a crazy strong mandatory character But some of it feels like it would be wasted in most cases Like you could make use of some stuff But some skills would be high for no reason other than making it high Where another character could have used it better to have a stronger team all around The problem is that you keep getting units (many that are better). So, using them early feels like a waste because you might replace those characters. But using them late feels like a waste because you may have had them the whole game to use on some units that will only be used in a couple battles of the main story Feel less wasteful with post-game stuff, though Or NG+, if they decide to add it

But most people drop him after the first few levels since I believe his only purpose is being somewhat OP early on to help you through the first few chapters And since the enemies are weaker, his experience gain is weak

Update on my ladies-only playthrough: I'm now done with Chapter 9. Trying to complete chapter 5 with only 5 characters (none of them being tanky at all) was really difficult and took a few tries, then the night battle in 6 was tough too but having Yunaka now made it a bit easier. Chapter 7 was much easier since I got Citrinne and Lapis in that chapter plus Anna in her paralogue right before that, and finally I got Jade in 9. Now that I actually have a full squad that I can deploy (and I also save-scummed to get the Olwen S bond ring for Dire Thunder) things are starting to get easier. I'm planning to do the four DLC paralogues next and get the Emblems from those before moving onto Chapter 10-11 and the major story/gameplay shift that comes with it.

As for my characters... with the limited amount of Master/Second seals I've been able to get so far, my first 3 promotions were Framme to a Griffin Knight (like my first playthrough, but this time with Swords instead of Lances), Anna into a Sage, and Etie into a Warrior. I love that the default female outfit for the Warrior class does such a good job at showing off Etie's best feature.

I know I won't beat the game for at least a few more weeks but I've been thinking about which FE game to play next. Ideas? The only other ones I've played are Three Houses and Birthright. I was thinking of replaying Three Houses but I've already beaten the game 3 times. Maybe Awakening? There's another FE game coming to NSO but not sure when.

You could always go for the 4th ending of Three House (I think there are 4 endings, right?) You could also try Fates (Conquest and Revelations since you played Birthright)

Soren and Camilla both give magic proficiency as well, but at really high bond levels (16 for Soren, 17 for Camilla). If you think pouring a bunch of bond points into raising Framme's bond level with one of those would be easier than waiting until you get Micaiah back later, consider getting one of them. I'd recommend Soren because he also has inheritable skills that directly benefit magic users while Camilla doesn't.

I'm trying a ladies-only run to but with much less strict rules lol. I'm just using as many females as possible while limiting the use of males to either their debut chapter or if there aren't enough girls to fill out the roster (that was mostly in the beginning). It's pretty fun and with no/less royals this time around, I'm finally getting to use units like Etie and Lapis. Also I made Etie a Sniper so I don't get to see her abs anymore. :(

Anyway, how did I go through my first playthrough without the Olwen S Ring?! This thing's a gamechanger. I pretty much ignored bond rings my first time through, now I'm looking up all the skills lol. Claude S ring skill will make Etie even stronger, but she's getting good use out of Sigurd so I dunno.

How difficult are the Soren/Hector chapters? I'm waiting to get Ike/Lyn before doing them in case there's any special scenes between them like there was with Marth and Tiki.

Imagine evil Vander,Clanne and Framme, I wonder if Alear and Veyle even exist in their world, Fuck, imagine Evil Lumeria and Good Soblem, evil Celine is apparently a cruel as fuck tyrant, where as ours is a hidden edgelord just waiting for something to go wrong to go full Edelgard, imagine evil Louis or evil Ivy...okay that's Tharja but still!

Yeah just did Hector's ch with Lyn equipped to Alear

There is a special battle conversation on top of a post ch conversation.

Though the battle conversation was cool, I found the post ch conversation to be... badly written. In FE7, Hector and Lyn were always bickering with each other. Lyn basically found him to be a brute most of the time, and Hector treated her as somebody who's too stuck up, though they were friends at the end of the day, and possibly love interest. Lyn is of course missing in FE6, which gives way to 3 possible fate, all of which involves the fact that she probably passed due to some illness within the time skip.

None of that is reflected in their conversation, when realistically, Lyn was relevant to Eliwood and Hector's lives long after the events of FE7, and it's questionable whether or not they would've looked on it so fondly. It also kinda reminds me of how Edel/Dimitri/Claude trio is basically portrayed to have had a friendly competition, when even in the events of 3H, it was hardly anything but friendly.

I know they're technically not the same person as they have "Emblem" in front of their name, but it's bizarre to me that they can also represent everything about the character they're supposedly based on, including all of their history, but also... not? It's as half-baked as the children being shoved into Fates story, where the mechanic came before the writing, and the writing is less than graceful into incorporating them. At least that's what it feels to me

It probably depends on when, though Most of the emblem characters look like they did in their game But chances are the characters grew old sometimes after that Meaning that when they were out into the emblem might have a role Like maybe they trio were put in before they were trying to like kill each other. Back when they were still somewhat friendly with each other But who knows Or maybe the however many years has made everything calm down between them For Lyn and Hector, thinking about old times may be fond because they think of the good memories There are some ways to explain it, I guess

I feel like you gotta think of Emblems as the most righteous aspects of these heroes with all the memories of the originals. They aren't and can't be fully like the originals. Just the best representation of them. If the true Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude were actually trapped in a ring together, they'd kill each other eventually lol.

Also I got Seadall. He's cool. A very classic looking kind of FE character.

It's weird because they're them yet they aren't them, they know they aren't them and the things they recall are memories and experiences of a soul that as far as they know has long sense perished to time and space it's actually a strange thing, like imagine if you were living your life but you know you are not the actual person living it, you are copy of that person meant to use their power to protect worlds that person will never know, where does you begin and the being you're a copy of end? Perhaps that is why the emblems are so friendly to each other because the hostility such as with the Three Houses trio doesn't really exist for them. Hmm, perhaps it's best to think of the Emblems as cosplayers who do really good impressions to make it simple. Basically they're all like Yunaka

The AlcrystxIvy support is what I was expecting between her and Diamant. Diamant's is some goofy shit while Alcryst is like I haven't forgiven you for playing a part in my father's death
