Cleo_II 12/02/22 9:39:08 AM #1:	They first turned me down but reached out about another role because they liked me so much. A little more money than I make ($10k more) but a little less work, more stability and I have a few friends on the team already. Its a tech sourcer role and not a recruiter which is a bit different. I wont do a lot of the admin work (reviewing and posting jobs, writing offer letters, herding hiring teams around, conducting reference checks, etc). I will just go out and find candidates that havent applied, get them to want to interview with us and then pass them to the recruiter who will finish out the rest. Ive been wanting a step back. Its a great job but more laid back and less room for growth but Im ok with that at this stage of my life with a toddler. Cold reach outs to people who tend to hate recruiters and think were all dumb. Then pitch your company and the job for them, get them excited, get them to want to interview, etc. A lot of recruiters dont do it and just manage the application pools. Were expected to work 9-6 every day at my current job and always have late meetings and as a mom its a lot for me. Tons of holidays off, unlimited PTO (which Ive had everywhere tbh but nice they have it too) and no one cares how many hours you put in as long as the job gets done. And both me and the other person they hired had several people who could back that they knew us, worked with us and that we were good. But we still had to pass all the interviews like everyone else and the interviewers didnt know us. I run Boolean searches on LinkedIn and cold message people who fit the job. Get them on the phone and hype up the job. A lot of recruiters spray and pray to get more responses though and message everyone they can because one keyword showed up but the person isnt a fit at all. So a lot of people think were dumb and dont know what were doing. I have a technical background though so I always message people who are a good fit. Always make sure your work life balance is strong and leans in favor of the home. The past several decades where this mindset of mindless hours of sacrifice to move ahead in a job or career path needs to die. I get it's sometimes necessary, but having employees who are also happy with the home/work life balance is another way to get strong productive employees who also WANT to work for you. I know personally I have always worked better / happier and harder for a job that I felt valued me not only as an employee but also a human being as well.
