Not shocked at all. They never gave a damn about judicial precedent, settled law, or decades of court decisions affirming the law.
They've always been the "renegade judges" they fraudulently cried about.
Now the Dems have a reason to actually pass abortion laws in Congress (before, "it's already been decided by the courts") and if they're smart, will run on this in the fall and make the Republican party pay dearly for going against 2/3 of the electorate's wishes.

I personally think people should be responsible enough not to need abortions and now that the tech exists to prevent accidental pregnancies (and reverse the procedure later if needed), it's crazy that it isn't used/available for everyone free of charge after puberty.

I would not have an abortion personally if I got pregnant due to voluntarily having sex and not using appropriate birth control. I think at that point the life is your responsibility and you need to at least ensure it finds a good family to care for it, if you are not able to, or do not want to. Many would be happy to adopt a baby, so it could have a good life.

I am a bit more torn in the case of rape etc, but again in most cases you can take a pill afterwards to ensure you don't get pregnant. Also if you have had surgery etc for long term birth control, you can't get accidently impregnated even if you are raped (which hopefully won't happen anyway).

So honestly I'm a bit torn on the issue, but I don't like to put my beliefs on others, so I lean towards having abortions be legal. I personally would like any such abortions to include a procedure to avoid any future accidental pregnancies, that just needs to be reversed if the person wants to have kids in the future.

While we don't have free health care, some things should be paid for to protect the interests of people who don't exist yet, and save resources over all, therefore I think the surgeries to prevent pregnancy and any abortions (that include that surgery) should all be free and covered by the gov/tax payers. Less people being born without a family that can provide them with a good life, and sometimes with parents that resent them etc, the better.

I don't think abortion should be taken off the table but I do feel that no doctor should ever be forced to perform them (which they are not really right now, but if you go into that field it may be required of you). I think the solution is to make abortions not needed almost ever (unless the mothers life is in danger etc). Another method is to streamline the adoption process and take out all the rediculous additional costs so that the mother of a child that puts a baby up for adoption gets a significant amount of money, making it MUCH less likely that an abortion would happen, and providing many children with loving families.

There is no easy solution, but I do think stronger birth control access is something we should have universally on this planet and certainly in the US. We have enough people, lets ensure any future people have a loving family that will support them and give them the best life possible. I consider it far worse to have a child and not love it and provide for it's future, than to abort a child.

Suffering in my mind is far worse than death, and if you bring a child into this world and abandon it, you are almost certainly causing it alot of suffering.

There will definitely be some bitter irony in that it was the stubbornness of two of the most prominent Democratic women in politics that enabled this*.
Hillary Clinton, probably the only person so disliked that they would've lost to Trump, ran anyway because it was her turn.
And Ruth Bader Ginsberg, deciding the destruction of Roe v. Wade was #Worth_It! for another few years on the bench instead of retiring.

Anyway, gentle reminder to all of you doing a victory dance who think this somehow will "protect life", that abortions happened before Roe v. Wade and will continue afterwards. If someone really doesn't want a kid, they'll do what they have to (but, the same people push abstinence only education, so I guess the concept that you can't force your morality on others eludes them).
Roe v. Wade just made the safe medical abortion legal. Now people who don't want kids will just be going back to the "home remedies". I suppose this is a "buying opportunity" for stock in wire hanger companies...

* "This" being the destruction of women's bodily autonomy by Republicans. Because yes, while the above two enabled it, they're the ones that actually did it and are at fault.

You would never have to make that decision. You're a man. You can't get pregnant. Whatever you think you'd hypothetically do is pointless to say because you will never have to make the decision. It's easy to say what you'd do when you never actually have to make a choice.

What, vasectomies? Reversing vasectomies is expensive and not the most reliable. We're not quite at a point where it can be treated as regular birth control. Even then, vasectomies are only ~99.9% effective, so you'll still see some 20-30,000 unplanned pregnancies a year in the US (I worked out the full math in another abortion thread, can't be bothered to do it again).

As much as people bang on the "responsibility!" angle, the fact of the matter is that nothing short of complete abstinence can completely eliminate unwanted pregnancies on a population scale (and even then, rape is still a thing), but given how much the risk can be reduced on an individual scale, expecting everyone that doesn't want a kid to completely avoid sex is not remotely reasonable (nor has it ever been). Unwanted pregnancies will always happen, no matter how responsible people are about it.

Serious question: Are you not aware that there's another human involved in producing any given baby? Because literally everything you've ever posted on this subject completely ignores the existence of mothers, and given the choice between you being incomprehensibly ignorant of how the world works and you being a psychopath that views pregnant women as nothing more than breeding stock, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and hoping you're just stupid instead of evil.

There's really nothing more to it than that. The opinions of pro-life men should not factor into the discussion. They have no stake in the matter except wanting to win an argument, and in a discussion where literal lives are at stake, that's just stupid and should be ignored by everyone.

You're not demanding that somebody else makes a sacrifice that you'll never have to consider making, so you're good. Arguing in the interest of people that actually have to worry about this is fine. Arguing against those interests amounts to "I value this hypothetical argument more than your safety," which is nonsense.
