The only reason that anyone feels any need to distinguish between "Liberal" and "Leftist" is because they want to live in a fantasy world where Democrats don't deliver on all of their promises due to ideological shortcomings and not because Republicans keep blocking them.

It's much more simple than that. Liberals are liberal, leftists aren't liberal, so the distinction is those who live and let live and those who want the government to force their worldviews.

Actually I CAN make that statement because I have followed those rules even though I can't get pregnant myself. I have not had sex with random people, I have not ever taken a chance at getting someone pregnant unless I was willing (and they were willing) to raise a child together if she did get pregnant.

My gender does not prevent me from being careful and taking the potential child into consideration before I engage in an activity that could create it.

Meanwhile if I COULD get pregnant (Which I would have loved the ability to do mind you) I know myself well enough to state that I would not have an abortion. I might take a pill to prevent pregnancy if I was raped, but if I had sex with someone voluntarily and got pregnant I would never have considered it. That is all I said, and it's true. You certainly don't know me better than I know myself. Maybe I would be a bit different if I was another gender, but I doubt I would be different enough to change how I feel about it.

Gender splitnot as big as you might think: Women are slightly more likely to support abortion than men, with Pew finding 62% of women want abortion to be legal versus 56% of men.

There are many pro-choice men and there are many anti-choice women.
Turning this into some sort of gender war is a terrible mistake that just alienates people needlessly.

This is just what happens when you have a religious population, so I think the only solution is to just spread atheist thinking. Nothing else will fix it, you have to get to the root of the problem. It's very simple. None of the points they make don't make sense... when you start with the fundamental belief that the church is right.

Coming from someone who once stood outside abortion clinics with a pro-life group. You just can't convince someone who needs the emotional support of a higher power.

Though it's mostly a woman's issue, it's not just about women's rights either, men also reach points in their lives where they aren't ready to take on kids. This hurts them as well. All because some people decided a book was better than science. As a man who doesn't really want kids at this moment, it freaks me out too.

Supposedly the report is currently unconfirmed. USA Today mentioned it couldn't independently verify the claim and, honestly, Politico's track record is spotty. I'm not sure the website ever moved past its alt-news roots where it reports dubious claims for clicks.

Anyway, even if this winds up being true, I either can't see it lasting or it seems unlikely that abortion bans will last in many states that might pass them.

Anyway, gentle reminder to all of you doing a victory dance who think this somehow will "protect life", that abortions happened before Roe v. Wade and will continue afterwards. If someone really doesn't want a kid, they'll do what they have to (but, the same people push abstinence only education, so I guess the concept that you can't force your morality on others eludes them).

Gentle reminder that this is an insincere argument since the ease of access has been a major factor in people getting abortions. Even right now, the news plays up stories about women who weren't able to afford to travel to get abortions who wound up keeping the children. Abortions are a bit harder than skirting other laws and even the legal avenues have a roadblock.

There's really nothing more to it than that. The opinions of pro-life men should not factor into the discussion. They have no stake in the matter except wanting to win an argument, and in a discussion where literal lives are at stake, that's just stupid and should be ignored by everyone.
