The thing is, I don't really rate Gage. So they went from a low tier WR masquerading as a #1 to... An even worse low tier WR masquerading as a #1.

I'm not saying it's not a downgrade, but when your starting point is 2 or 3/10 at most, going to 1/10 isn't a huge loss

its not an offseason in the NFC North without the Vikings, Bears, and Lions poaching all the players that the Packers release. Every season. Still doesn't help them.

good grief that's quite a haul, I know the Dolphins have the picks to spare but that feels like a lot

that trade basically says "you better get it done this year Tua or else"

it feels like it's just the Jets, Jags, and Texans who won't feel like they can make the playoffs next season

The AFC could have an 11-6 team miss and the NFC could have a 8-9 team make it, and that doesn't fully cover the overall disparity between the leagues.

It's amazing, honestly, how it's inverted so quickly.

The NFC is now the top-heavy league, with the Packers, Bradys, Rams, 49ers, and Cowboys in the front (and perhaps the Cardinals), but most of those are declining and at least two of them are looking at cap hell for years to come. This is a stark change from just two years ago.

The AFC is now hyper-competitive, having a huge amount of good or better QBs. I'd say that, in addition to the Jets, Jags, and Texans that the Steelers might not have playoff aspirations this year. I'd think their plan is "figure out what the hell to do without Big Ben around" with hopes to make the playoffs in the 2023 season. The Dolphins' coaching change and the Raiders making a terrible hire will cause their hopes to fade quickly, most likely, the former only because of the competition.

I'm sure the Steelers think they can make the playoffs again next season if they somehow made the playoffs this past season.

Yeah if McDaniel is a big reason for the 49ers success and the rise of Deebo then I could see the Dolphins Offense doing some work

The Steelers only made the playoffs this year because the Chargers and Colts drastically underplayed their level of talent, and crapped away games against two of the worst teams in the league late in the season.

The fact that the Steelers were even still in contention entering week 18 was a small miracle in itself.

Also Baker AND Jackson got hurt in their own division, leading to wins over the Browns and Ravens they otherwise may not have had.

The Steelers got lucky as hell.

I will reiterate what I said in a previous topic that Flores was abysmal at assembling and retaining a quality coaching staff. Whether it remains to be seen how McDaniel fares, he appears to me to have done a much better job with his initial coaching staff as he has a clear vision in mind.

I'd be more inclined to give Tomlin credit for being a heck of a coach for getting them into the playoffs with a lackluster team, and with that in mind, I'm not willing to rule out their chances before the season even starts. I'll need to see them be bad before I say they can't make the playoffs.

My comment on the Dolphins was regarding the team being one built for Flores's schemes. A transition year doesn't always go well if the guys on the roster aren't a fit for the new coach and a lot hinges on who you have at QB. Who knows at this point. If the AFC weren't this competitive, I wouldn't be counting them out.

I'm also not saying the Steelers can't make the playoffs. Just that they are planning on trying to figure out a solution at the most important position, and that will cause them to fall behind in a hyper-competitive conference. Tomlin is a phenomenal coach, like Noll and Cowher before him, and will be able to turn the team around in short order.

Trubisky should at least be an upgrade over Ben.

My real answer would be one extra period with a set time. If the score is tied after that then it's a tie.

Playoffs goes one extra period then into sudden death where the next score wins and the possession starts with the team that ended the overtime on defense.
