So I just found out that Caro & Ray didn't return because Caro's status as a non-US citizen would have prevented her from getting back into the country at the time, and that they had otherwise planned on returning despite their breakup.

I probably worded that terribly. I meant that Raquel & Kayla are the second all-female team to win the penultimate leg, since season 11 was the first time it happened, unless I forgot that Lyn & Karlyn (the only all-female team to make the finals before season 11) somehow won the penultimate leg.

Okay yeah that makes sense. They are the second to do it overall. When Dustin & Kandice did it in 11 they were the first. Fair enough.

Interesting that Taylor & Isaiah were there, and the others weren't, but I do know that they dropped out at the last second so maybe that's why.

I thought Kim & Penn had it because they looked so happy in their confessionals.

Raquel & Cayla's average finish was 2.73. Is that the record for an all-female team? It's definitely not Amy & Maya or Keisha & Jenn. I looked up Nat & Kat and Brook & Claire and both of theirs were just over 3.

Maye Kristi & Jen? They never finished below 3rd, not counting the partner swap leg.

I'd presume that both racers need to be present at the finish line, so if Anthony still couldn't take off work, Caro still couldn't get back into the US, and Connie was too pregnant to travel, that would explain.

Caro's Canadian, right? But was living/working in LA, and had to go back home. IDK...

Caro has German and Brazilian citizenship. She's been in the US the whole time but her issue was that if she left the country she wouldn't be able to get back in because of her passport with international COVID travel restrictions at the time.

Hmm, maybe that is the case. My initial interpretation of the article I read was that the fear was that she would not be able to reenter the US at the end of the race, but that she was in the US during the pandemic, but maybe that's not the case. Either way, she explicitly states that they had intended to continue racing together despite the breakup.

Finally getting around to reading the season 42 bios/interviews. I'm two interviews in, and I hate every word I read about Daniel.

Oh yeah, S42 starts in a couple days. I keep forgetting.

I haven't gotten to that guy yet. He's another dorky superfan though, with the added flavor of proudly stating that he's a classical liberal, and his politics might not win him any fans.

This new advantage is more overly-complicated and confusing than anything from last season, holy shit.

Daniel is kind of annoying but his story made me genuinely emotional.

A lot of these stories are getting me kind of emotional.

It's funny, fans used to bitch that there were too many recruits and not enough actual fans and beginning around S35 CBS actually started making an effort to cast more fans and now the fans complain about that.
