Yeah TC has been surprisingly balanced. All three tribes went to TC once in the first three episodes, and last night the cycle reset and blue went for their second visit. Orange is just down an extra member because of a medivac.

Even though today's episode wasn't as interesting as the last, there was a few interesting things to take away.

Mainly that if Jonathan wins, I will have immense disappointment in every single member of the cast for being that stupid to let him even sniff the F3.

Secondly, my friends and I had a lot of fun with Swati at the end of that ep. Mainly that we all thought she was going to tell Jeff that HE was her actual Number One at Tribal.

So what I'm thinking:

Chanelle went into tribal council expecting the vote to be 4-1 against Daniel, with her as Daniel's target.

If Daniel succeeds with his Shot in the Dark, the vote becomes 0-0, and on the revote, the tribe votes her out.

Preparing for this, Chanelle switched her vote to Mike, so the vote went from 4-1, to 3-1-1, and if Daniel played his Shot in the Dark, it would be Mike out with a single vote.

However, ALSO paranoid about the Shot in the Dark, Mike/Hai/Lydia expected Daniel/Chanelle to vote against each other, but they split their votes 2-1 to ensure both Daniel and Chanelle had votes against them.

Thus, the final vote turned out 2-2-1 instead of 3-2 against Daniel.

Makes sense, but then why vote for Mike (who seems destined for a "blowup on return to camp" at the beginning of next episode) rather than, say, Lydia who's already been through the wringer on getting votes?

Edit: or nevermind, I guess he and Daniel did vote for her in the end so it makes sense to throw a vote on him even if he throws a tantrum

from her perspective, if Daniel plays shot in the dark and is successful, there are no valid votes and she's gone on the revote. voting Mike protects her in that scenario. and of course, from the others' perspective, she can do that, so they split the vote and don't tell her.

I too thought it would be Chanelle. She's sketchier, and she proved that beyond a doubt with her hinky vote.

I do think the Shit in the Dark was a factor. But Vati is the one tribe where nobody cares to play it. It ended up not mattering and just shows that they made the wrong decision.

The 4-4-4 merge is gonna be wild... or would be if they allowed it to be an actual merge instead of the bullshit that literally everybody hated in 41. I'm hopeful that Danny McCray's rant at Tribal got Probst to tweak it significantly enough to be more fair. Because last time he legitimately deceived the cast.

Yeah, Chanelle will not only want to flip, but she'll also actively try to right off the bat. Probably to Ika.

Remember that Chanelle lied to Omar and that means Omar doesn't have a vote at the next TC. If Omar finds out about it - i.e. by someone from Vati recapping what went down at the Jenny vote - he's gonna want her gone. However, that's not gonna force Chanelle's loyalty to Vati.

Daniel is so transparent, yet he seems self-aware enough to understand that. He'd probably stay loyal out of fear that Hai and Lydia see through any attempt to flip (which he'd botch) and because he seems to be more loyal, whereas Chanelle is cutthroat.

From what I can understand, the following people are most likely to flip:

1. Tori - Clearly on the bottom of Ika. Clearly doesn't trust her tribemates. Doesn't actually have that idol (which was a stupid red herring by production since it ended up spoiling that Tori made merge). Will find greener grasses with Lindsay and Maryanne, and the three of them will irritate Jonathan even more together.
2. Chanelle - Knows she's on the bottom of Vati and has no reason not to try to team up with Drea and Romeo.
3. Rocksroy - Feels on the outs about the Swati vote but also doesn't seem to hold it against his tribe. I think he's more self-aware than I previously thought, and that blindside was a humbling for him. He may stick with Drea and Romeo going forward, but may not.

I think that's it, because the Lindsay/Maryanne thing was a red herring. Taku is the most likely group to stay together, but they're also the most likely to be targeted first because of Jonathan. Taku does benefit from having only been to one Tribal.

This 4-4-4 dynamic is going to be fascinating. Let's hope production doesn't completely ruin it with the nonsense from last season and has modified it significantly so Probst doesn't lie outright, the hourglass isn't so OP, and everyone gets the merge feast. I'll take ONE of those three (but am expecting zero).

I'm honestly off of Jonathan now as a player too. He seemed like a super sweet super strong guy, and now the last two eps have shown he's kind of just bitter and grumpy.

I also get the feeling Vati will be wiped out pretty quickly after this merge... I really hope it's not the case as then I'll have what, Tori?

Tori is not enough!

I am hopeful that production has realized how much of a good thing this is. That said, it's only Day 11 because of the shortened game length. They probably will just not learn their lesson again.

Having no swap means there's no reprieve from these people. It lets things like Jonathan's annoyance with Maryanne develop. If this was a season in the true 39 day fashion, they'd probably be like "We need to shake things up!" and swap.

Let's hope they go back to 39 days but have swapless seasons more frequently. Because having to deal with the same idiots for 18 days with no reprieve makes the merge a LOT more interesting, and those episodes give them time to establish the storylines that will come into play when merge does happen. Not every vote needs to be interesting - there are other ways to make episodes compelling, after all.

Also yes Tori does have some similarities to Jenn Brown. I think Jenn is snarkier and even more IDGAF though.

I wonder what they would've done had Taku lost out? Last season the worst a tribe could do was get down to one person, but with Jackson's medivac taking away the double tribal insurance, Taku could've lost out and been completely decimated. Makes me wonder if there was some last minute tribe reconfiguration to put Jonathan and Jackson together in the hopes Jonathan would carry them to at least one win to avoid that.

I'd like to believe maybe they wondered what would happen if they put the second-strongest person that's ever been on the show on a tribe with arguably the five weakest people of the season. Could he singlehandedly carry them to victory? The answer is yes.

I don't even think that's true, because I'd say Zach and Romeo are the two weakest men on this season. Maryanne probably fits as one of the three weakest women, but Lindsay certainly doesn't. I could see Marya, but I'm not really sure who the third weakest woman this season is (1 and 2 are Lydia and Maryanne).
