The curse of the 1 seeds continues, with Besaid X putting on the worst performance of the whole day. Will Big Bridge be the only 1 seed to survive the very first round? We also get our very first tiebreaker- Battle 2 was winning this by a landslide early on, but Celes snuck back as the day went on. Ultimately Celes managed the shocking comeback, and a GB track is still yet to win a match.

In other news, OG VII suffers its first defeat yet, and XIV wins both of its nailbiter matches!

I love the original Besaid. That was a really tough matchup for me. Funnily enough, 4 of the 5 first round matchups where I really hate to vote against either involve X.

I've been burned on overnight runs against songs I like, now I'm just hoping for an overnight run in Ultima's favour. Really love it, after listening to today's songs I went and listened to the 1-hour loop version on Youtube. Probably will again tomorrow. Looking at the bracket, couldn't see myself voting against it until the quarterfinals, at least... assuming it survives this day.

You can never know which way the overnight vote will swing! (Though I think it usually tends to favour the more well-known tracks)

I thought we'd have a new votal low today but a bunch of people came in in the last hour. Matches 2 and 3 were even for most of the day before the winners pulled ahead (RIP FFIV), and Ultima scored 8 consecutive votes near the end which was just enough to take down one of the big guns! Tiebreaker winners are now 7/7, with 4 more of them to come. Can anyone stop them?

The Ultima miracle, damn... I wanted to believe but still didn't expect it. Hope it makes a deep run now.

Feels bad for Nova Chrysalia though, that puts me at 7/7 so far on every song I nominated losing in tiebreakers or round 1. Three more to go... but being introduced to great tracks like Ultima and Woes that is Madness almost makes up for it.

Division 5 does look wide open, but who knows! Flamenco is the highest seed remaining there, not that that necessarily means much. It did win fairly comfortably.

Out of my 15 nominations (not counting the two I removed), 10 made the contest. 2 have won so far, 3 have lost, and the other 5... we'll have to see. My hopes are not high for them.

Wait really? Shit, when I counted the votes, it didn't seem like it would have mattered how I voted. I went back and forth on that and ultimately picked the one that was behind (and had better sound design.) Wasn't precisely a pity vote but...that's going to haunt me now. I mean, I'm happy with either advancing. I'm just less happy with either not advancing. I'd probably feel the same if the match swung the other way.
