I remember I tried to play FFX-2 twice before. I was never able to make it through the opening cutscene. (I only got it because it came for free with FFX on Vita).

PC so it's no problem.



The Sphere Levels are all from last night's boss battle. Will have to go through and do that today... normally I'm on the ball and they're all at 0. The one problem I'm having... there's activity spheres that I don't have items to unlock. Have all the other ones by the boatload . Maybe that's where you're supposed to backtrack? Which enemies drop activity spheres?

Yup, i think you do need to kill with the attack in order for it to count though.

Overkill helps as well.

I dont know if this next part classifies as a spoiler (i dont feel it does) but ill tag it just in case (you can have others confirm) but Yunas aeons can learn extract skills as well, at the cost of orbs themselves. This is an abillity thas learned later on thoough

yeah a lot of sphere grid backtracking is necessary. ability spheres you'll want to try to stay on top of, but eventually you'll start to get access to like Return Spheres and Friend Spheres where you'll have some freedom to backtrack easily and learn abilities other people have learned, especially ones locked away by like Lvl 4 keys early on the path

If you're stuck or confused on anything in FFX, the guides on this site are the best going (well they were back in...I dunno, 2003/4 I think).

There's also an ability on the Sphere Grid called "Extract Ability" (may be Wakka's or Kimarhi). If you use that in battle, any item drops from that enemy will be Ability Spheres

Minor spoiler but you'll need it, make sure Kihmari is decently leveled with a variety of abilities learned from Lancet. There's a point where you have to fight two bosses with just him.

This is kind of bad advice

Minor spoilers:

That boss's stats are based on Kimarhi's so how strong he is doesn't matter, and you can learn almost every Lancet overdrive from them

So if you go in missing several Ronso Rages, you get repeated overdrives by just doing Lancet on them.

Much better advice is making sure Kimarhi has steal or mug since you can get about 13 lvl 3 key spheres from the boss

Really? I did it on my first try . Got in a good rhythm with the healing items and character abilities. Although if I didn't load up on items, I'd be toast

Yeah I don't get why people think that boss is hard either

I think they just didnt understand to attack the head and arms first

Sinspawn Gui was the first boss I remember being a noteworthy challenge on my first playthrough. But everyone's experience is different. Seymour Natus was probably the toughest fight I had first time around, and I only won by the skin of my teeth after something like two hours with Yuna as the only party member left standing; on the other hand, I breezed right through Seymour Flux, and only learned years later that it's supposed to be one of the hardest non-optional bosses.

That's useless if you can't actually beat them. No, work a little on Kihmari. I did ignore him and that fight is absolute hell if you do.

No it's absolutely not. The bosses are exetremely weak if Kimarhi is extremely weak. It's purposefully tailor made to be an easy fight no matter what just so absolutely nobody could get stuck.

And completely broken in your favor if you don't have many Overdrives learned as you can just do Lancet and refill your overdrive over and over.

IF you're playing a NSG run that fight is legit one of the easiest boss fights in the game. I don't get what you're going on about.

Yeah I always hate that Ronso fight because I don't like using Kimarhi. At least now I bother to give him thief abilities so he can do something besides just attack but the fight still sucks.

Sure but what you're saying isn't opinion. It's giving out objectively bad advice. Going in with all the Overdrives already learned means you can't get tons of overdrives during the fight just from doing lancet over and over. Learning a new overdrive fills your bar.

And buffing Kimarhi up makes the fight harder as the boss' stats are based on yours so victory is always possible.

"You're not me! You can't say Blue is better than red! That;s opinion!" isn't a retort to that, especially considering you're openly claiming you died over and over and over on an incredibly easy fight.

This isn't something you should feel defensive about.

You're objectively wrong. It's a well known fact that the stronger Kimahri is, the stronger that boss is. It's like Square knew Kimahri sucks and no one will ever use him, so they made the solo boss fight scale to how strong Kimahri is.

No. They knew that Kimahri would be used differently by different people, and that some potential paths could lead to wildly different power levels than other paths. The boss auto-scales because that's the best way to handle a character who can range anywhere from easily your weakest party member to easily your strongest.

trying to recall the bosses i had trouble with my first time through now o_O. i can think of like 3

I hated it personally, the only FF where I never finished the story, got a little over half way and just didn't care about the characters or the story and just stopped and sold the game on eBay.

Hope you enjoy it though TC, just wasn't for me and was a huge disappointment after waiting years to play it.

Yeah the only other game I can think of with such smooth character switching is Ys8.That game is an action rpg and changing between characters is nearly instant.
