Are you still wearing one?

Im almost past the two weeks after getting vaccinated, was wondering what other board 8ers are doing since a good number of people who I know are fully vaccinated still wear masks indoors

I might just keep one on me just in case I guess

Why would anyone wear a mask if they're vaccinated other than to virtue signal? The Science says that there is no evidence that vaccinated people can actually spread Covid, and obviously the risk of getting severely sick from it is nonexistent.

Honestly, I like the idea of getting sick less often. I might be immune to covid, but there is a bunch of shit i'm not immune to, and in the pre-covid times you looked bizarre if you just wore a mask. Now that it's a standard way to appear I'm just going to keep it going.

Some businesses still require them to enter, and there's no way to prove someone's actually vaccinated

At this point, if I had to choose between no one wearing masks and everyone wearing masks... if we didn't have a large contingent of morons without a legitimate medical reason to skip the vaccine slipping it, yeah I'd say nobody wear it

So it's basically a form of peer pressure

Because some places still require them to enter. I actually can't think of any places except for Publix and 1 post office that actually have them as optional in my area. Everywhere else still has it posted on the door as required

This reminds me of people who are quick to quote that "fact" without accounting for the very narrow range of people it (potentially) affects. An over-use of anti bacterial soap is hypothesized to have an adverse affect on the developing immune systems of children. It's a hypothesis that comes from observations that people in developing countries have lower incidence rates of things like allergies and asthma. So the logic is that people in developing countries are more likely to have exposure to pathogens. Of course the other way to view it is "the ones that survive the pathogens are more likely to have had a more sturdy immune systems" so is it the chicken or is it the egg?

But there is no hard science showing that antibacterial soap creates a negative immune response in adults.

But hey, get sick if it will make you feel "tougher".

On one of the first days of the mask mandates being removed, I went out with some friends (all of us vaccinated). Place we went to had a sign that masks were not required for vaccinated people. Probably about 30% of the people were wearing masks. Our group, since vaccinated, were not wearing masks. Someone in our group said, after being inside for about a minute, "wow, it feels nice to not wear a mask anymore", and I, in a very sarcastic and obviously joking voice said, "yeah, but careful, if you don't wear one, people will think you voted for Trump", and she said "Good point" and put her mask on. I thought she did it just to punctuate my joke...but she left it on for the full 1.5 hour we were there...

In NoVA, there's a large amount of people still wearing masks everywhere.

I was down in SC for Memorial Day and while there's a lot less people wearing masks, I was surprised that there was still a decent sized chunk (say 20-30%) still wearing them at various stores.

Naturally I caught a cold from a family member down there and had to wear my mask for the last week when indoors to be a good person and hopefully not spread my cold around. Felt good though knowing that you can wear one while feeling a little under the weather and go about your business.

Which means I'm generally not wearing it in the office.

That said, wearing it outside is surprisingly valuable if you have allergies. Worth keeping around for that reason alone imo.

Still wear one in public. The vaccine, while very effective, hasn't reached nearly enough people yet to reach herd immunity. And it's not 100% effective. Once we reach acceptable vaccination numbers, then I'll stop wearing one. (Sadly, the people who refuse to get vaccinated are the ones less likely to wear masks in the first place). I don't fault anyone who doesn't want to wear one anymore, but I'm going to continue until we reach herd immunity.
