no its not some sort of got em thing I legitimately see everyone making the masks/no masks debate a big deal when half the people wearing them do it wrong anyways.

im in Ontario. I wasnt even eligible to get the first dose until pretty recently. I see our government push the propaganda pretty heavy these days straight from the prime minister. I find it interesting how we as Canadians are told we absolutely have to get vaccinated if we ever want to go back to normal yet here we are and our own PM is such a soft bitch he has never halted flights from countries where people are bringing in new variants.

the entire situation is hypocritical. Im making the situation worse by not wearing a mask yet apparently that plane from India, Southeast Asia, England, Africa full of unvaccinated people who potentially carry new variants ah shit let em in who cares its somehow everyone elses fault we cant take the risk of looking racist or xenophobic thats clearly more important

the entire thing from top to bottom is a shit show from our own PM down to grandma who cant figure out her god damn nose also goes in the fucking mask. We are never hitting here immunity. Im just waiting for it to eventually become old news and it becomes no different than how we currently treat influenza. Those who want the shot once a year can get one, everyone else who doesnt want it doesnt get it

What you're doing is using shortcomings in other areas to rationalize why you, personally, can't be assed to do even simple things, when you've made it pretty clear that you just wouldn't be doing said things regardless because you just decided not to.

if our government enforced some real rules and stuck by them and didnt fail 3 lockdowns in a row I would be happy to put some effort in on my part. Id be seeing a real difference. Anyone who cant wear a mask properly get the fuck out of the store. Anyone who breaks one of the bylaws about visitors and gatherings gets a huge fine. No international flights for regular people.

at this point probably yes but Im content with waiting a little longer as even while Im now eligible the wait time is huge. Ill follow that with saying I dont really care who does or doesnt get a vaccine either - your body your choice. I like the idea of not being a beta tester

You just restated my statement in dumber terms.

I think it's clear from their initial rant of "Why should I help old geezers and fat asses?" that the real reason they're not only refusing to do simple things, but proud of it, is because they're put off by the fact that they were asked to do something minor to help people they very obviously looks down upon.

It's all selfishness and hate, no need to look into it any further.

I think the narrative about "selfishness" is kinda weird - not just from you, but the common sentiment that refusal to abide by covid restrictions is rooted in selfishness. It's weird to me because I sheltered in place for over a year and basically didn't leave my apartment except for biweekly grocery deliveries, and I did it purely because of selfishness. I don't overly care about some stranger's immunocompromised grandma. I do care about myself and my loved ones. I care about not losing my career and/or quality of life to chronic fatigue and brain fogs. All my covid precautions were based on self-interest.

I don't think Kureejii's being particularly selfish here. More like self-destructive. Other people are increasing their own risk during a pandemic so he's gonna increase his own risk too because ???

I meant selfish specifically because of his initial rant that was basically "Why should I do anything? To help some old geezer or fat ass?" Not only is it basically "Why should I do something? To help others? Ew no," but he specifically named the types of people most impacted by the virus, showing it was an intentional "I don't care about those people, I'm not going to inconvenience myself for them." The phrasing basically made it clear his opinion is since he's convinced he, himself, has nothing to worry about with the virus, he doesn't care about helping those that do, and even appears to have disdain for them, given his choice of words.

You realize you're literally worse than both of those examples, right. "Old person has trouble keeping their mask on their nose" and "Overweight person wears mask but touches stuff" is better than "Refuses to wear a mask, period, and yet acts superior to these people."

Your continued use of stuff like "fat ass" just makes me more sure I'm right. You have disdain for these people because you blame them for you being inconvenienced. Not necessarily just for their actions, though, since anybody can not wear a mask right or "touch everything," yet you feel the need to call out the two most at-risk groups specifically, and degradingly. You're literally upset that you've been asked to take steps to help others, and you're aiming hatred at the more susceptible groups.

While I still wear a mask, I do think it's reasonable to say "I've considered the risks and I'm not going to wear one." I think it's a different level of selfishness (or immaturity?) to go, "I see that group of people being stupid, fuck everyone else, I blindly get to be stupid too!"

Also not a fan of "I didnt say those exact words, so that's totally not what I meant."
