I was playing some midrange shaman this morning and beat every druid I played. Lost to both hunters I fought since base shaman had no healing, but being able to control the board against druid and make a lot of taunts seemed to shut down their gameplay so that was nice

Followed up last expansion where I had 7 legendaries in 33 packs or something with 3 in 63. Also, only got 300 some dust from duplicates which has to be an all time low for me. Ouch.

And it still didn't fix the crafting button in the collection manager still telling me I have cards able to be disenchanted.

Xyrella was my legendary, but Im probably crafting the Warlock lady because maybe its just me but cheap spells seems nuts right (plus I have like, all the legendaries to play warlock)

Flamestrike and Fireball are both there still IIRC, flame strike even got buffed

There is a new collection of cards called "Core". To build this new "Core" set they pulled largely from the original cards, but also hand picked cards from a few wild sets (such as Nerubian Egg and Annoy-O-Tron and Baron Rivendare). And then they gave all the cards from this Core to everyone.

Some original cards were not included. For example Archmage Antonidas is not a "Core" card (in his place is a new mage legendary, Aegwynn, the Guardian). But all the cards that were not included in Core were added to wild, so you can use your Antonidas there if you have him.

And so Standard = Core + 2 Years

And Wild = Everything

So standard has a more narrow focus now because it's just hand selected cards + 2 years, and those hand selected cards could be shaken up when it's time for sets to rotate again next year to better suit the cards in the active 2 years.

I think I'm only missing 5 legendaries and some epics now. And I've still got 2000 gold and 8000 dust to start saving for next expansion!

They screwed up the "glow" around the minions. You'll notice it's the same shape as spot that shows what tier the minion is.

I don't know about Field Contact specifically, but Rogue in general seems really hard to beat right now. Like...I don't know how to respond to an efficient Octobot on turn 2. Kazakus seems nuts in Rogue, cause they'll usually have the board on turn 4 from doing rogue things, and they can pick up a golem that gives their minions +2/+2. Kinda reminds me of back when Rogue could run 7 mana Bonemare--Bonemare required that you control the board on turn 7 in a tempo deck, which made it not even good in most classes, but in Rogue it was really hard to beat.

Not sure what the right nerf target is, though. Field Contact looks really good, but when I got completely blown out by a Rogue, Field Contact wasn't even part of the blowout.

Stuff I've messed around with:

Libram Paladin, adding the obvious 1 drops, and Samuro to replace the 5 cards that are rotating from the deck: felt weak--stomped by rogue, stomped by Jaraxxus. Beat a watchtower priest I guess.

Doomhammer Shaman. It's fine. Probably the most competent-feeling list I've played.

Mill yourself Warlock: it seems like a meme. Pretty sure good control decks are just going to beat it consistently once they know what they're doing. They can stall for a long time with consecration style effects while fatigue is ticking, and often develop their own board as well, dealing additional damage to you while they lock down your board with 2 damage AoEs. Still funny, might be my "challenge a friend meme option."

I mean, I only have one altar of fire, and I'm not crafting a second one cause it's an epic with no effect, so mostly when I mill it's with like Soul Rend, which is at least a board clear.

I hate how your opponent played parts of that game, but good lord that's a ridiculous deck he has. I've drafted some decks today and nothing comes close to that. I'd say that's a 12 win deck, but lately you can't ever predict 12 because of how many 'I play this and win the game' cards are in right now. The amount of generation you had was wild! Honestly your deck should go pretty far as well.

I'm still reeling from that disastrous 2 legendaries in 85 packs debacle, but does anyone have links for early decks? I saw the VS 30 decks to try day 1 link, but haven't checked anything out yet.

Also, this is probably a longshot, but Nicholena is doing another BGs tournament Sunday, and the twist is it's a duo tournament where you are in a different lobby from your partner, your points for how well you do in groups are combined to see who makes finals, and in finals one person plays and the other can give suggestions and such. If anyone wants to give it a whirl let me know.

Feeling very frustrated with the game today. I know it's only been 1 day so take my dumb ramblings as you will but I'm not having much fun. Control Warlock wins every control match now so I don't feel like I can play any control decks unless I auto concede against Warlock. It's not fun spending 20 minutes in a match just to see if they burn the cards you need to actually win or not.

When they made Tickatus they said "yeah we know it's not fun but hopefully you only see him like one in every 20 games". Well if that was their reason to make such a dumb card then they better nerf this shit into oblivion once control Warlock inevitably takes over the ladder.

People are using Envoy Rustwix with fatigue to get the portal and then put 3 prime minions into their deck too. So that's a minimum of 3 turns you need to deal with the portal, a 2 mana 6/6, AND prime minions. Being able to get the portal with an empty deck and then immediately refill it before taking any fatigue damage.

Also Jaraxxus is WAY too strong now but that was obviously going to happen once they got rid of his downside.

tl;dr: control is dead unless you enjoy playing a 10% matchup against Warlock

Guess I'll just play Beast Hunter or Murloc Shaman? Or maybe I'll just go back to Rogue

More hot takes: the watch towers are too good for neutral cards. Call me crazy but I don't think a single card should be able to beat entire decks if you coin it on turn 2. At the very minimum these things should have 0 attack IMO.

Also went 1-1 with Freeze Mage in classic, no longer undefeated rip the dream.

There's already a push to ban Mor'Shan from arena (the Grinning Goat guys actually called for it pre-release) and Blizzard will probably do it since they generally ban feels bad cards if the community complains enough. These things offer basically no counterplay, and in my three runs so far a bunch of games have been won or lost by turn 3 because of them.

It's just a question of if it will take a week or a month since arena is somewhere down in the hundreds on their priority list.

Power Word: Fortitude was like...a "1 star card" in basically every card review I checked. Glance at HSReplay today, and the #2 most played deck is a deck called "Spell Priest", where Power Word: Fortitude is one of the highest performing cards.

Every card review was like "well you probably have 4 spells in hand, so this is a 4 mana +3/+5". OK...but if you have 8 spells in hand it's a 0 mana +3/+5 that activates Sehtekk Veilweaver (which is a scenario I watched Kibler pull off more than once in the theorycrafting stream...or maybe he had 7 spells in hand and one discount from Palm Reading. Whatever).

Diamond Samuro is free with the pass, otherwise you need to pull him.

These watch towers are driving me absolutely bonkers. Priest dropped the increase cost one on turn 2 and a taunt on turn 3 and that fucking thing survived for 7 turns against my Paladin deck.

How did they think these were balanced?

Randomly got 140 dust when I logged in just now, no idea what for.

Also, the tavern brawl this week is completely broken. The entire gimmick is using spells to dye your eggs so they hatch into different rabbits, but if you use any dye on them they just hatch into another 0/2 egg, which then hatches into a vanilla 1/3 rabbit the following turn.
