Attack on Titan Season 4 Episode 10 complete!

Connie is suggesting this is possibly an Eren doppelganger, huh? I get what he's saying in a sense because the dude in this episode didn't look like Eren, and the big mystery of this season is what made him change so much. A fake Eren seems too absurd to be true, so either he saw something that made him change or Zeke somehow convinced him to change.

Also yikes, what have they done to Historia? I don't like this.

I actually just beat Galaxy a bit ago. I don't feel like I have as much to say about it because it's just so competent.

I'll say that at first I found it a bit slow. I was in the Sunshine mode of really exploring the space given to you, but it's pretty unrewarding. Nothing to find but star bits, coins, and 1-ups. I kinda wish there was a small collectible system that the 2D games use. I would regularly grab 1-ups because they were in the kind of hard to reach places that seemed fun to try to get. But it's still a little hollow when you're just doing it for yourself. I also don't like the Bee powerup. Too slow.

But that's kinda it as far as something I can complain about. The game is just bursting with meaningful content and never feels like it drags. I even liked the purple coin challenges much more this time around because it did give me that rewarding feeling of fully knowing a level.

Currently trying to get through as Luigi because I wanna do the grand master galaxy, hopefully it's just as fun a second time!

You're playing the first one, aren't you? grandmaster Galaxy is in the second game. I mean, there is something in the end and I enjoyed it enough to play as Luigi too, but it's not a grand master galaxy you're getting to.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth beated.

Excellent game/series, would highly recommend to anyone willing to put the time in to play the series.

I think last time I posted I'd just beaten Raiko. The trip to Tuskur was fun and getting to see Eruruu and Hakuowlo again was great. Now Woshis... if there was a weak point in Mask of Truth, I think the Woshis plot and the direction it ended up spinning off into is it. I actually started spinning through Woshis theories in real time during the confrontation in the Capital and for a moment I thought it was going to turn out that Woshis was a clone of Haku to complete the Mikado's recreating his family with Honoka and Anju and I think I'd have preferred that but eh. Still, if it all ended there with Amaterasu firing, and Woshis ultimately realizing he completely missed that he was loved all along, that'd be fine. But I wasn't a fan of how this lead to him using the prototype Akuruka and going semi-Uitsulnemetia. Which plays into the real losers of the game - the Watanarabe. We could have done without those guys, I think. Shichiriya is cool, he can stay, but the rest really overstayed their welcome.

Anyway, the endgame/final battle was quite honestly god-tier and among the absolute best in all of gaming, IMO. I was going to be upset if Kuon just transformed into a monster like the rest of the Akurutukura and not have Evil!Kuon/Uitsulnemetia!Kuon be the boss but then the way it actually got pulled off was AAA++++. The shadow clones of the old party were fun, just like Prelude the Final Strike dialogue changed for the final battle, and then when Kuon "really" appeared in her prison orb thing I was 100% satisfied with the battle taking that form. But I was absolutely floored when I did my first Co-Op Final Strike on Kuon and it broke into a unique dialogue between the co-op partners before and through the Co-Op Final Strike. It being Haku and Nekone made it even more powerful, I was shedding tears by the end of it.

Also glad that Haku's death "probably" stuck. No problems with happy endings but it would have cheapened his goodbye scenes when he turned to salt if he literally came back for real in that final battle. I like the bittersweet take a lot more and I suppose there's some ambiguity there if you want to believe. I do think there's some lowkey horror that the twins are apparently with him though because uh... how did they manage that one? I was hoping they'd start living life on their own like Haku wanted but they somehow ended up in the semi-heaven that Uitsulnemetia has? Also, it was nice ending on Eruruu and Hakuowlo finally getting to be together for real after everything in the first game.

Bleh, probably have a lot more thoughts and as always I can be poked for specific ones if anyone wants, but overall this was definitely an amazing experience. Like with MoD before, I'll stick around for the postgame because actually the gameplay in MoT is like... way improved and genuinely super fun, IMO. After that... Persona 5 Strikers, I think. Then perhaps I'll jump on that 13 Sentinels bandwagon.

Character Ranking: Kuon > Haku > Nekone > Rulutieh > Mikazuchi > Anju > Oshtor > Ougi > Raiko > Shis > Atuy >= Jachtwaldt > Mikado > Twins > Munechika > Itak > Woshis > Nosuri > Kiwru > Honoka > Fumirul > Maroro > Vurai

Anju/Oshtor and above are excellent/incredible characters. Mikado and above are really good. And it isn't really until you get to Honoka where I start going "meh."

Dragon Ball Z Episode 82 complete!

Well, at least Piccolo lasted a few episodes. And now Frieza teases that he has one more transformation up his sleeve after this one.

On a related note, my wife found a meme that asked what would happen if the cast of your last show was planning your wedding. If it were DBZ, we might never get married and we'll keep waiting for Goku to show up.

"Goku is the best man and he has the ring. Can he get to the wedding in time to ensure a happy ending? Find out...

Aw yeah Utawarerumono. Haku and Kuon definitely the top 2 so you have it right there. Next tier is probably some amalgamation of Oshtor/Atuy/the Mikado/Nekone/Anju and I don't want to try and figure out an order. (I don't know why I was such a huge fan of Atuy but I liked her a lot)

I don't know whether or not to be suprised you didn't end up liking Woshis. I liked him quite a bit even if he'd be in my tier 3, but there was some ways about how his character was handled that weren't great. Also the plotline with him/Haku/the Mikado also reminded a bit of Final Fantasy IX which I know you didn't like although I don't know whether or not the reason has anything to do with that.

I never did the postgame, as usual, but I did think the gameplay was really fun, and I'm someone who normally just doesn't like SRPG's. (This has more to do with common implementation than it does with core mechanics, but still)

F/GO: the power of gacha continues to encroach on my soul

Made an absolutely terrible decision trying to go for Kama here. I had originally decided I didn't care at all other than throwing like 10 tickets at the banner instead of just 5 in case the miracle happen... but then later I talked myself into making something of an attempt. That's.. fine, so far. The problem was I talked myself into "one more 10-roll" a few times after I hit the limit I had imposed to myself at the start.

Started at like 810 quartz. Told myself to stop at 600. Actually stopped at 480.

and literally only got a Parvati (technically NP2 because in my initial yolo ticket thing I do for event banners I actually got my first Parvati) and Diarmuid (Saber) to show for it.

ughhhhhhhhhhh honestly feel kinda sick. I feel like I was in a pretty good position for my Reines + Merlin with Stretch Goal Skadi towards the end of the year and now I feel like I just took a wrecking ball to it.

gachas are very scary my friends and i probably should not be trusted to play one

Yep, as I suspected, there is indeed one more world to go! I hope the last boss delivers. I feel like Mario games are so hit or miss with bosses. You end up with the same boss fight repeated later on, just with a new move this time. They tend to try to make final Bowser fights special, though not always!

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. >_<

For my part, it's less that I missed on Kama (granted given the resources I put in my odds were north of 50%, but not by all that much) and more that for the first real time I got tilted by the rolls being just so bad and went over the limit I set for myself at the start and may have put my plans for the year in serious jeopardy. I had felt pretty good about them before the event given where I was at and now it could become an unmitigated disaster depending on the luck of the gacha.

Technically speaking, I think this is the biggest dud of a banner I've had so far in terms of resources spent so I guess this is my first "the real gacha starts here" moment and I've been fortunate up until now but argh I just wish it didn't happen a month before Case Files. Of all the times to lose composure.

Current trying to trick myself into believing the gambler's fallacy and that this just means the Case Files banner will go relatively painlessly and I can remain in good position for Merlin this summer. Worst-case scenario is I miss on Reines entirely (I'm thinking I'll be going in with just shy of 600 SQ as a conservative estimate, but tickets will definitely put me effectively a bit above that, but statistically that still isn't a great place to be) in which case you will find me inconsolable in a month's time lol. Especially because if I'm emptied out I'll be in a really bad position to recover in time for Merlin so it'll just snowball from there.

...It's a shame because it's put a bit of a damper on the actual event which I'm actually quite enjoying!

Okay, I finally finished The Intuition of Haruhi Suzumiya. I enjoyed Tsuruya's Challenge, although overall, it doesn't feel like they progressed the story in any meaningful way. I feel like they only acknowledged the events of Surprise once, and it was just a quick passing reference. I don't know if it gives me any real hope that Tanigawa is planning to write another one any time soon, although they did do a little foreshadowing at the end, as well as acknowledging and lampshading his own Chekhov's Gun from Intrigues. Regardless, I'm glad to have more Haruhi after all this time.
