Shes beautiful, shes kind, shes friendly, shes smart, shes funny, shes not a sore loser, shes great in absolutely every way except that she spends thousands of dollars on expensive clothing that she promptly throws away for being out of fashion, and drives her parents insane with credit card bills. And look, I get wanting to look nice. Im okay with buying a fancy piece of clothing every so often, thats reasonable. But Im trying to imagine a relationship with Veronica not ending in me being bankrupt, and its difficult.

Are you going to say that Im being unfair by basing most of my writeup around one element of her character, rather than everything? Well, maybe. But tell me that you want to have nonstop arguments with your waifu about her overspending on clothes. I know I sure dont, and the alternative is being a millionaire.

By the way, Ive never watched Riverdale, Ive only read the comics.

The original Fire Emblem waifu. Does she count as Mongolian? I get vaguely Mongolian vibes from her, but not strong enough to really declare it for certain. By the way, I had it pointed out to me years ago that Lyn hits all of the Mary Sue tropes (katana, good at everything, written into the lore later, all the boys want her), but who cares?

Lyn basically qualifies as a princess (extremely high-ranking noblewoman), but the fact that shes also a nomadic tribeswoman is a definite wrinkle in the Girlfriendness but not a killer. Basically, Lyn has all of the best qualities of exotic wanderer and important noble, but also has some of the drawbacks of the first, so it balances out, yeah.

As far as personality goes, yeah, shes a fairly typical anime waifu, whos friendly, polite, and fairly smart. What, she believes in gender equality? No arguments here. Does she hate bandits and pirates? No problem I dont live in Somalia. What, she wants to stay with her grandfather in his old age because she believes in family bonds? Fine. All of this is fine. The biggest problem is probably that she owns a set of fancy katanas, which is going to be both difficult to explain to my family and easy joke fodder about weeaboos to my friends.

I do like Lyn, to be clear. Were already past the point where all of the waifus are pretty quality. Lyns more just like a classic waifu of our teenage years, I suppose. Shes almost more interesting to talk about from that perspective, the effect she had on the series. Until 13, Lyns the only notable waifu in the series. Is she responsible for what Fire Emblem is now? Or is she just incidental?

Does it count as having a sister if youre a clone of the original person? If not, then I guess I lied, but at the very least, Jeanne dArc calls her a sister, so Im counting it anyway. Can I just say that the idea of this waifu is great? I want to summon Joan of Arcs dark side, oh wait she has no dark side, oh well Ill make a clone of her whos just evil or whatever is funny to me.

So, lets talk about Wiki pages. No waifu more accurately encapsulates the difference between the dry way a Wiki page is written and the actual waifu herself than Jeanne Alter. If you read her Wiki page, and thats your only exposure to her (as it was mine), then it sounds like shes a completely heartless, evil world-destroyer out to kill millions of people. Then you watch some clips on YouTube and shes a gag character. Tremble at this harassment! as she gives you chocolate is not at all the vibe you get from the Wiki page.

I guess this is where Ill be a giant hypocrite and say that although Im not normally super into tsunderes, Jeanne Alter just sort of strikes a chord. Shes a really solid execution of I want to be a hardass warrior-destroyer, but Im actually so bad at it that Im just goofy and cute. Like, as far as Im going to loudly talk about how evil I am while not actually doing anything evil goes, A+ job. And then shes got an alternate form where she dresses up in a swimsuit (just because normal Jeanne dArc also has a swimsuit mode), uses a bunch of katanas, and acts as cringey-edgy as possible. I can easily see why shes the most popular waifu of FGO. And if you werent analyzing waifus in the context of a dry Word document where you try to imagine difficulties in relationships with them, I can imagine her being really up there. But man, if I didnt play a gacha for Fire Emblem, a series I actually like, what chance is there of attracting me to one for Fate of all things?

As you can probably guess, Jeanne Alters big weakness is that shes an adventurer and a mystical spirit people call. Shes probably going to be gone all the time, right? Its probably still possible to make a relationship work, but shes then further sabotaged by the fact that we see her deepest wish, and its to have a harem of edgy boys. Man, Im about as far from edgy as it gets, I dont even own a black shirt.

Last thing: I have no idea how the mechanics of this game work, but according to TVTropes, shes weak against moon cancer. Man, girl, arent we all?

Haha, well I intentionally phrased that summary to make it sound outrageous, but it's all true!

It's also not, like, part of the actual story at all. There's story chapters and then there's events - which can range from seasonal like summer (which is the event I've been describing), halloween, or christmas, etc. to intra-series crossovers, to original scenarios. As for "how seriously should they be taken" that also runs the gamut. But it also allows for stuff like to happen lol.

Like, I could also regale you the tale of how Quetzalcoatl becomes Santa for the year (by having the title passed down to her by the previous year's Santa - Attila the Hun), but misunderstands and thought it was samba, and then her evil half tries to take over the role of Santa and plunge the world into an endless Christmas and the only way to stop it is to enter a tag team lucha tournament to determine who should be the true Santa.

Well, that last event that was described was a one-time thing. Most events have re-runs the next year where you can get anything you missed the previous time, but that one was so frustrating to play that they aren't going to bother doing a re-run of it.

Poor black-haired waifus, after this, the only ones left are Kaoru from Yakuza and Ibuki from Danganronpa. It would be only thing if black was a fake hair color like green, but its literally the most common hair color on Earth. 85% of the planet has black hair or the darkest possible shade of brown, but, spoilers, its the first real hair color to drop on this list.

What Maya brings to the table is basically infinite good humor, energy, charisma, and that one sprite where she angrily puffs out her cheeks. All of that is very strong. Like, theres going to be zero issue getting along with her, zero issue holding down a relationship with her, none of that. Mayas just a classic example of a really likeable anime girl, theres not much to even say.

The problem is basically just that she lives in a tiny Shinto village (just outside of LA, were littered with tiny Shinto villages) and has to spend much of her time meditating and doing spirit medium stuff, but you know what? Shes still usually available. Like, not always, but its not like shes an adventurer or something whos always gone. Its an issue that does hurt her, but not by as much as you might expect. What, she needs to go to an obscure South Asian country and study there for a few months? Eh, thats workable. Its a problem, but its workable. I guess its a problem that shes constantly getting arrested for murders she didnt commit, but she knows the best lawyer in the country, so shes never in jail for more than three days.

I think one of the games mentions that spirit medium marriages tend to not last very long because the husbands bail because theyre annoyed that their wives are more important than them? I have a difficult time believing that. That reminds me of that stupid moment in Wheel of Time where someone is like Wisdoms dont marry very often because men dont want their wives to be more important than them.

The problem with Maya as a waifu in this ranking topic is basically just that shes so charismatic that theres not even really much I can say about her other than that shes a quality waifu. Highly recommended.

I don't think it's that farfetched for men to eventually want to bail because they feel insignificant and useless in their marriage. It's not necessarily being "annoyed" by it. It's just the men being unhappy with the marriage dynamic. For better or worse, male pride is a stereotype, but it does exist.

I guess I can see that being true. I know male pride is a thing that does exist and can cause these kinds of issues, but I'm trying to imagine it breaking up a marriage with someone who's otherwise perfect like Maya and I guess I feel like you'd have to be unreasonably prideful for that to happen.
