I'm partial to Season 6 as far as The Simpsons goes. Starts off with my favorite episode ("Bart of Darkness") and just stays fantastic from there.

I wouldn't go as far as counting the individual games in each pair as different numbered entries, like Red and Blue, but I'd absolutely count the third versions.

JP Red/Green are the same game in the same way that EN Red/Blue are the same game.

technically doesn't count since the shippuden games are called Narutimate Accel (instead of Narutimate Hero) in japan but I'm counting it anyway

it's unfortunate that 5 never got a US release but it's really good, i still love how much they fleshed out the story mode as an rpg despite it being a fighting game

What does "fifth" mean? the fifth numbered game? the fifth released game? the fifth mainline game? what happens in Pokemon games if they release two or three versions?
Is Crystal considered the seventh game because it has RBYG and GS before it?
Is Resident Evil 4 the fifth game because RE0 exists? or is it the fourth game because the name is literally 4?

I don't think there is a right answer. The one asking the question should decide the rules

Yeah, but that's a little bit different. Black and White are not called Pokmon 5. There's even a Black 2 and White 2. They're the fifth generation but they're pretty objectively not the fifth entries. I'm not saying you can't make the case, just that you had to make a stretch for it.

Resident Evil is a case where you really can't go by the numbers, they are so random with when they use subtitles and when numbers. 0, Code Veronica and REmake are all mainline entries in my opinion, so the 5th main game would be REmake. Some would argue that to be top for sure!

Eh, I'd certainly disagree with this in the case of Yellow, at the very least. Yellow changes quite a bit, from adding the partner following mechanic and new minigames, to completely changing trainer and Pokemon sprites, and changing trainer/gym leader teams, and adding entirely new characters, etc. It feels weird to arbitrarily discount Yellow, but count things like Lost Levels or Super Street Fighter 2.

Lost Levels is just a completely separate game, full stop. Super Street Fighter 2 is definitely really close to Yellow though, those should probably be treated the same.

Well, the reason I bring up Lost Levels is because it's basically the first example of the NSMB formula of basically putting out the exact same game over and over again with super minor changes. Like, third version Pokemon games probably have more actual changes to them than Lost Levels does. It's definitely a different game, I'm not saying it's not. I'm just saying there's a logic gap to then not count things like Yellow, which have even more changes in them than just "Mario but they used a level editor" games.

Actually, having looked at a list of differences between the original and Lost Levels, I'll take that back. The actual amount of changes/additions is probably less in quantity than Pokemon third versions, but the "but they used a level editor" pushes it over the top. There were more changes than I thought.

Well, it was never a question of if it's main-line or not, it is. It was moreso an argument that trying to use amount of changes to disqualify a game like the third versions of Pokemon is kinda silly when games with arguably less changes that very much count exist. It was never an argument intended to disqualify LL, it was just to show inconsistent logic in the reasoning behind discounting Yellow/etc.

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (5th game; there were two distinct Ys IVs) was probably the best in its franchise for about a dozen years.

dont think I could easily and straightforwardly call it better than oath in felghana and origins though and havent played more recent games but people sure seemed to like viii.
