I feel like Captain Marvel is just a sore subject for Monica because her mom died and she wasn't there to help but maybe there's some other tension we don't know about, I dunno why a Skrull would have that reaction in particular though, if anything they'd be less likely to? They stay really in-character but don't always know deeper secrets so they'd probably assume Monica was fine talking about Captain Marvel

I feel it would be because the Skrull would know Monica and Carol have a connection, so if grilled on her, Skronica might not be able to give proper details.

interesting theory. the common theory is that it hints at her becoming photon.

Im gonna assume Monica isnt a Skrull because it just doesnt work well in a narrative sense. The stuff about her mother dying and connecting with Wanda due to shared grief is too important for the character here for it to turn out shes not really Marias daughter.

Monica being weird about Captain Marvel probably relates to her mothers death too. We know Carol was in space at the time of the snap, and Maria was in the hospital then, so Monica may just be upset that Carol was absent during Marias illness.

Im sure the x-Ray was just hinting at her having powers.

Monica Rambeau as Photon has light-based powers so she is probably made of light or something rn, I doubt she is a Skrull but that definitely is an interesting take

Monica getting the thousand yard stare and quickly changing the subject when Captain Marvel came up was the one part of the exposition banter I loved. They must have a pretty awkward relationship since Carol seems to have fucked off to space for the better part of 20 years!

Also if the person in control isn't Wanda I would be far more suspicious of Dottie. I get that Agnes has been around magic, did the "another take" thing and also was around for the dead dog, but Dottie bled in color! She was also "the key to everything".

Oh, good catch. Perhaps Agnes is just a red herring or her lackey.

Also the commercial for HydroSoap's tagline was "Find the Goddess Within". Any goddesses we know involved in Wanda's storylines in the comics?

Oh wow, okay, just finished watching. That was a pretty insane way to end the episode. I'm so looking forward to the next episode.

...also, so now Wiccan and Speed have their powers, but are they going to...you know, stay? Are they really Wanda and Vision's children through the magical pregnancy and not some rando's children?

Also, I do feel it's more likely now that this Pietro is sent by someone else, from the way he tried to get Wanda to tell how she did the whole mind control thing. BUT if someone else is the mastermind behind this, then that raises more questions - so there's Wanda, the mastermind, and whoever's behind Quicksilver.

It's interesting that Agnes gets her own credit in the opening sequence again, the only non-Maximoff to do so. But yeah she's likely not the mastermind, though probably still not just a nobody either. She's likely to be part of the mastermind's plan.

And Vision not remembering what the Avengers are is sus as well. Did Wanda take him from another, earlier timeline? I'm sure in Endgame he was fully aware that he was part of the Avengers, right?

In Endgame they showed Shuri disconnecting a lot of his processors from the Soul Stone, she did not finish but they made a point to say that without the stone he could not function. He obviously does not have it in his head now so it could be that without the stone he has a fragmented memory

or, you know, magic

Infinity War* Mind Stone* aside from that, they actually said without the Mind Stone there is still a whole lot of Vision left. Also I'm not 100% sure what your response has to do with what I said.

In regards to Vision

I'm pretty sure he's still technically dead and Wanda just gave him 'new life'. I guess what I'm saying is it's not actual Vision, but rather a new Vision that was created based on Wanda's memories and placed into his corpse. Hence why he can't leave her bubble and why he didn't initially save his boss back in the first episode. He's just gradually gaining more independence as the show continues.

I would imagine Vision doesn't have memories because Wanda didn't want them. Like somebody else said, Vision is dead, so the WandaVision Vision is a construct. If he knew he was an Avenger and everything that implies, I doubt he would have settled into that life without a second thought (running away from Sokovia accords, duty to help people,...). I'm also suspicious of Pietro's questioning of Wanda of how she managed everything; he seems to be the most dangerous outsider.

I really don't understand why people see Agnes as a potential villain when she feels to me as just the supporting character of this show. I could see her having a bigger role, but I doubt she's the mastermind. On the other hand, Vision did make the note of her getting lost in her hometown, implying either Westview is not her hometown or she's being affected by the magic. Aside from that, what has she done? Help Wanda with the anniversary, help with the magic show and prep her for Dottie, ...

Though honestly, I'm surprised I remember anything about this episode...Elizabeth Olsen in that costume was very...distracting.

I agree that they are killing me with these cliffhangers!!! I loved the 90s vibe of the episode (even though Malcolm in the Middle is a 2000s show - not a 90s show), but overall the episode definitely felt like it was building up to something big but ended right before it made it to the climax. I wonder how many era- style sitcoms we will see in the last 3 episodes. I am guessing we might get one more, but that's about it.

Side point - what's the general consensus around here on Agent Carter?

I also started watching that show recently and am on S1Ep8. I am also really loving Agent Carter. I love the Cold War espionage setting and the way everything is coming together. I also really like Peggy a lot - her character and the actress.

Good ep, though as usual I thought the SWORD stuff was pretty bad. The bit where Rambeau and co knocked out the agents to get back in felt like a sitcom itself, I wondered for a bit if they were starting to act like they're in a show due to being so close to Westview but I think it's just the Marvel style again. I will stop commenting on this every week as it's just the same complaint each time lol. Not looking forward to Darcy in Westview, I don't enjoy her acting at all.

As for Quicksilver, I think this ep puts a damper on the idea that he's actually Foxsilver bringing the X-men into the MCU. Seems more like it's just a meta-reference and he's the same Pietro body as ATJ. but as speculated his consciousness may well be someone not on Wanda's agenda at all. He makes note of Vision being dead already causing Wanda to push him away, did I miss one of the kids telling him that? Not sure how he would know otherwise, seems like a red flag.

No idea what to make of Agnes, she's still a total wildcard. She could be entirely unimportant and they're just giving her high billing in the credits because Hahn is the most well-established actor here. I think Billy and Tommy are here to stay no matter what happens in the end, a cool way to bring them into the universe tbf.

About Agnes:

The entire plot of episode 2 was about putting the idea of having kids in Wanda's head. Then, the entire plot of episode 5 was about the kids putting the idea of bringing back the dead in her head. In both episodes, Agnes is the main instigator of events (bringing Wanda to the fundraiser and being the first to mention kids, pushing them to keep the dog and then being the one to find it dead).

It's all been orchestrated to bring Pietro in, and now that he's here he seems to be an antagonist. He claims that he doesn't remember anything between being killed by Ultron and Wanda calling him back, but he knows that Vision died. He doesn't question that Wanda created Westview even though he'd never seen her do anything close to that before. He dodges questions about their past and makes up stuff she doesn't remember. I don't know if he's a secret villain (a lot of people seem to think Mephisto will be in this show) or just a disruptive force to try and break her out of the illusion world, but it's all been about bringing him in and Agnes played a key role in that, with more apparent agency than anyone else in town.
