Both got Pfizer. Theyre both back to work, the one who was hospitalized was out a month. The other coworker was out ten days. Said she only had a headache and felt tired. I got moderna and havent heard anything about anyone catching it after that so hopefully its all good.

I did, got a Pfizer dose a month ago or so (had no symptoms whatsoever btw)
Doesn't seem like it helped...I mean if the lungs are fucked, how could it help :(

I don't know about your specific case but there has been quite a few articles explaining how the vaccine seems to be helping some who have had long covid

I mean, if 1,000,000 get vaccinated, 1 person gets blood clots, and that 1 person gets reported on the news, well, everyone will have heard about "that 1 person" but the odds are still 1 in a million. The odds don't change just because of publicity.

Pretty much, currently the average person has a much, much higher chance at catching and dying from COVID than taking the vaccine.

Of course from a moral (and ethical) perspective it can be argued that isn't good enough.

From a local news site:

Ali Roth, the owner of Blue Willow Tea and Berkeley tea shop The Blue Willow Teaspot, had hoped to reopen her Kickstarted restaurant on May 1, but those plans were put on hold after her husband and 2-year-old child tested positive for COVID-19.
Im fully vaccinated, Roth wrote on Instagram, and need to stay home with them to take care of them until their quarantine is over and follow CDC guidelines. According to Roth, a Pennsylvania-based colleague of her husbands who visited Bay Area last week refused to get tested before his flight, quarantine after, or wear a mask while he was in the shop, and it turns out he had covid the whole time. Now, she wrote, I need to put work on hold right now and just be here for my family until were all safe. She hopes to reopen the Teaspot on May 7, but asks that patrons cut us some slack, this is a really stressful time right now.

ulti-tier move on the part of the Pennsylvania guy

Wrong number. Almost all of the blood clots did not result in death. And knowing that this rare event can happen will likely lower the amount of deaths as well. Deaths were 3-4(One person in serious condition that i know of) out of 8 million.

We also wouldn't be giving J&J to every person in the world. But we would give it to a lot of people and it would save a hell of a lot of lives, prevent a lot of prolonged covid conditionsm etc.

It is not even a little bit of a moral issue. Most medication we give people will kill some small percentage of those that receive it but the benefits to the population far outweigh the harm. We settled this moral issue a long time ago.

Yeah, I was the most excited about J&J, but was let down as more information came out. It's still a fine vaccine, but I thought it would have been a game changer in terms of the administration process.

After feeling fine the day of the shot, I spent a good chunk of yesterday "feeling off". Slight headache, body aches, tiredness, etc. Nothing major but just the feeling of not being 100%. Took a nap in the afternoon and woke up feeling better. By the time I went to bed I was feeling back to normal.

And yes, I drank a whole lot of water Friday and Saturday. Maybe it helped, maybe it didn't. Who knows. I tend to drink a lot of water anyway.

Woke up today feeling fine, other than some lingering arm soreness.

Virginia today reported the lowest number of cases in a day since April 15th of last year, which was back during the period when Virginia was almost dead last in the country in testing. I believe only Kansas was worse at that time.

Hospitalizations are at their lowest level since March of last year.

It's pretty encouraging!

Canada had a slow start, but we are making good ground, we should cross 40% of the population with at least one dose around tomorrow. However we are only at around 3% with the second dose though by the end of the month we will likely start focusing on getting the second dose out (mostly because we will begin to struggle to find people excited to get the first dose).

so what happens when we do get that roughly 40% administered with a second dose and we run out of people who actually want the vaccine at all? We just sit around 40-50% and call it a day?

Outside of a law forcing people to get the vaccine our max rate will likely be around 60-70%. After that we may have to do yearly shots if the variants end up mutating too much.

I think the worst of it is already over. It was a slow build up of feeling slightly feverish starting at about 5 hours after my shot. My arm was sore but not as bad as the first time.

Then right at midnight (14 hours after the shot) my fever surged much higher and I had severe chills for only about 3 hours before it all started letting off. I ended up sleeping about 10 hours. There's still a residual fatigue and my cold tolerance is still a little low, but nothing terrible.

Second Pfizer shot is kicking my ass. It's not as bad as when I had COVID and every bone ached to the point of not being able to move but it's like when you get Flu and every major muscle aches. Woke up like every 30-45 mins last night. I even intentionally drank a ton more liquids than usual

First Pfizer shot wasn't as bad, was just a really sore arm.
