The lovable characters, the interactions and development between them, the flawless comedic timing, the excellent animation, the beautifully hype music... right up through the final medley of the last episode today, I had the biggest, stupidest smile on my face. This show was so consistently fun all the way through, and I'm legitimately having a hard time thinking of any noticeable flaw in this show. I'll give it more thought in the next couple of weeks, but there's a very real chance that D4DJ just became only the eighth anime that I've ever given a perfect 10/10 score. That's how much I loved it.

I watched episode 4 of the second season of Promised Neverland. My wife is a huge fan of the manga and apparently in this episode they wildly deviated from the source material and she is REALLY pissed off about it.

I've heard a lot of good things about it, and Amelia Watson (one of the English Hololive girls) apparently streamed a "watch-along" of her watching that movie today. I haven't seen the newest episode yet, but that's disappointing. I can't thing of a single example of anime original writing being better than (or even as good as) the source material.

(it's like how non-anime fans were so surprised at how bad the ending to Game of Thrones was, even though I saw this coming from a mile away ;>_>)

It's funny that you mention GoT FL81, because I had to tell a family member who watches very little anime that he went through what stopped me from watching anime adaptations of stuff I read.

I don't know if it was better than where the story would have gone if it stuck to the light novel (because I just generally don't read manga or light novels) but I at least know that it was significantly better than the early part of the series that originally followed the source.

From what I heard some time ago, the anime followed the novel somewhat closely up to volume 3 or 4 (out of 7 volumes available at the time), then diverged at episode 19. Having read up to volume 3 so far, I'd say the novel is pretty slow-paced and feels like it's still in the "intro" phase, so reaching a conclusive-enough original ending would probably feel better for the anime.

Just watched the new Attack on Titan episode.

what genre? the classic yuri trinity is Girl Friends, Sasameki Koto, and Octave to give you an example of the prototypical schoolgirl yuri (Girl Friends basically wrote the textbook for future schoolgirl yuri manga), high school romangst yuri (Sasameki Koto), and adult life yuri (Octave). that said, the quality of yuri manga nowadays is a lot higher than those (imo) with the obvious title being Bloom Into You.

School Zone is also shaping up to be another classic (comedy). and i cant mention comedy without giving a shoutout to Yuri Mekuru Hibi and its sequel Yuri Mekuru Oshigoto.

if you want action, theres Gamma (superheroes) and Murcielago (lewd and hyperviolent).

for trashy telenovela dramas, theres Citrus and anything by Kodama Naoko (the queen of trashy telenovelas).

and of course theres also Qualia the Purple, aka the greatest manga of all time.

Yeah the manga probably holds up better, but I want to use it as Japanese listening practice which is partially why I am trying to watch a bit more anime lately.

I also want to play the PS4 game by the Yakuza devs but I wanted a little more background knowledge on the series and characters.

Watched the second and third episodes of Beastars S2. I feel so many people are sleeping on this anime. It is excellent.

I guess the original's Link Joker arc was more story than dueling though, and it was basically the best season of Vanguard even til now

From what I can tell, its worth the investment. Keeping in mind though, I think the last two arcs are anime only since the manga was still ongoing at the time. But as "filler" goes, they're apparently top notch.

Oh yeah the anime'll be great for that. I played a bit of that game but didn't finish it, definitely can recommend. It kinda felt like 0 or Kiwami and seemed to have a good mix of action and downtime too.
