Guy dressing up as a girl. But IIRC there was another character in the teaser trailer who might be a girl who dresses as a guy, so we may get both.

Is the '86 Saint Seiya worth the 100+ episode investment? It is on Netflix and I recall I think hearing it is good? The first episode was alright.

I really liked it as a kid, but it's a pretty slow-paced show with not much substance in the main story itself. Also drags on a bit during the middle part because of filler material. Probably will be worth it if you like the action or any of the five main characters though. I'd recommend the manga over the anime because it goes by way more quickly, but the art is... old.

There's also the CG movie Legend of Sanctuary that I really like just because of how awesome the animation is. It's a standalone work loosely based on the manga's third major arc (anime's fourth arc) and can be watched without any knowledge since it's completely unrelated to any other work in the franchise, though some characters and designs are radically different from the original material.

From what I can tell, its worth the investment. Keeping in mind though, I think the last two arcs are anime only since the manga was still ongoing at the time. But as "filler" goes, they're apparently top notch.

From what I remember, the filler materials are more like add-ons to the otherwise manga-accurate arcs. Happens twice in the series, one during the Silver Saints arc and one during the Poseidon arc. The latter one even stayed relevant in the franchise and spawned the Soul of Gold spinoff series.

Also, forgot to mention that the manga's real ending is only animated in the Hades OVA series, and isn't part of the anime show itself.

The anime is really close to catching up to the manga (I think the arc the anime is about to finish only just finished in the manga like a few months ago) so it makes sense. I think it still has a chance (albeit a slim one) to come back after a few years' hiatus, which is way better than filler hell like Naruto or One Piece. I'd be totally fine if it just ended at 170 though. It's been a lot of fun, but I'd rather they not stretch it out for too long.

LBX Girls. In between battles, the girls drive around in (and basically live in) an armored car with an AI built into it. That AI happens to be a massive troll who messes with people all the time.

Oh I always planned to watch the Danball Senki series, since it's mecha, although they're figures or something I think, but still for all intents and purposes mecha.

This one seems to be a spin-off and not the usual formula. Music is by Go Sakabe, and he does great music.

Gundam also has a series like that called Gundam Build Fighters and Build Divers. They fight with their plastic models, and it seems that Danball Senki has the same concept. I loved Build Fighters, it's like one of my most favourite Gundam series, I really need to check out Danball Senki already.

I learned last night that ADV Films actually made two different English dubs for the show: one dub that was mostly faithful to the Japanese version and a second "Americanized" dub that was a lot raunchier and localized a lot of the Japanese pop culture references into more western-focused ones. They made the second one specifically because they were aiming for the show to play on Adult Swim, but Adult Swim chose to air the original faithful dub. I can only imagine how insane that second dub must have been for AS to pass on it. It might have been Ghost-Stories-tier crazy.

I was just reading about that on Wikipedia because I was curious as to when it aired on AS to see how long ago it was.

Yeah I'm playing through it right now, it's pretty fantastic. Definitely a top Gundam game IMO.

Read Chainsaw Man with low expectations as it's technically a shounen, which I usually hate.

Came out of it wholly impressed.

It has a fairly grounded storytelling despite the ridiculousness of the violence and premise, and it never really pulls punches with actions having consistent consequences, which is unlike most shounens that either too convolutes things or creates random plot threads that go nowhere or could be skipped. You can't really skip any chapter in Chainsaw Man as it really fills every little corner with shocks and interests

Of course the protag Denji is particularly lovable due to the horribleness of the situation around him and him being the only real source of brightness. Makima on the other hand is the perfect foil and now one of my favorite villians in my recent memories. I also obviously love Power and Aki and their development with Denji throughout the series, no matter what the sad implication behind the relation truly was. Aki specifically reminded me a lot of Killua from HxH, and that's in part due to Denji, who I hesitate to compare to Gon but ultimately fulfills a largely similar role throughout the story. HxH being the other shounen that I enjoyed, but it really teeters at the edge of frustrating storytelling nowadays. Oh, and in terms of great characters, who can forget Kobeni's Car, who placed higher than Kobeni in the character popularity contest I believe. What a stunning character that was

For Chainsaw Man, definitely a 10/10 recommend, but it is violent, which is a word of warning for the squeamish

Cross Rays was the first one I played in the series IIRC. Still a solid but definitely prefer Overworld, I like the crossover interactions and variety more.

Overworld is nice but there's a lot of reused and rehashed assets. Cross Rays has a lot of brand new stuff including voice lines so it's more fresh

Finished up Hitoribocchi after leaving it halfway done for a few months. It was alright, last episode actually had some of the best moments with the phones.

Isekai Mokushiroku Mynoghra is somehow not the worst thing in the world. It's a decent isekai that seems more inspired by 4X games and seems to have a better grasp on how these types of games work than the typical isekai novels, one that immediately comes to mind that attempts to mimic 4X being Slime Isekai. I wasn't a huge fan of how Slime Isekai dealt with the developmental aspects, but this series at least shows the smallest of logic and well-defined mechanics behind a development of a civilization.

I mean it's not mind blowing or anything, most isekais aren't except Mushoku Tensei, but it's fun times.

I read the fan TL'd mango of course, but I'm sure a web/light novel version is like tens of volumes in
