So playstation direct is definitely botted to hell. Had an auto-refresher going beat the captcha before anyone major sent out a stock notification. Hour long wait(Which means nope).

Here's the deal with that. Until the stock actually drops (remember, the queue begins before the stock drops), it will say "more than an hour" no matter what. Once the stock drops, then whoever was already in gets randomized into the queue. Everyone who enters after the stock drops gets placed at the end of the queue. It's more or less confirmed that the queue is randomized once the stock drops - it's well-known that people have gotten them despite people who got in before them leaving empty handed.

Gamestop had a decent in store release Saturday, I believe. Best Buy is supposed to have a major restock on Tuesday of all variants of all consoles.

A Direct drop is not guaranteed today though. Like I said, there hasn't been one on a Monday in several weeks, and there have been days where they were expected and didn't happen, or happened unexpectedly.

As for the randomizer, there seem to be some mixed reports on it, but I'm convinced it's randomized at this point.

I think it's partially randomized.

For example. I think if you are say at 3% percentile at getting into the queue you could be randomized between 1-40%. Or something.

If you are last. You could be randomized between 60%-last.

I could be off, but it definitely has randomization. But, speed getting in does still seem to matter.

They still aren't convinced on the time to my knowledge. I will be out of the house at 9am, personally... Could pull over and spam on my phone but rather be home. Though to be fair, I am not really in care if I don't get something.

Best buy is doing this drop super weird. It's coming like store by store. Whatever your home store you are using it is going by. For example, North Hills has had the add to cart for PS5 for like an hour now. Most of the surrounding areas in PA have still coming soon.

Wal-marts latest restock is maybe the worst one yet. There's an Add to Cart button on the page but I keep getting this message:

This item was not added to your cart. This item has just gone out of stock.

I literally clicked it the first time it popped up after a refresh there's no way they sold out completely in less than a second.

Now the Add to Cart button is gone and it says "This item is momentarily out of stock."

How are people getting through the error message?!

By the way, this is for January delivery. Which means this is happening despite the fact that the scalpers can't scalp it for Christmas.

Kinda wild reading this thread after the whole nightmare of trying to get a 3080 Sept-Nov.
It feels like it's a complete repeat of what happened there and everyone trying to get a PS5 before scalpers/bots snatch them up has my sympathy.

At one of the sister stores in San Antonio, they got over 100 people in line on that Saturday to try to get one of those bundles. The entire time they were calling the store manager c***, bitch, and everything because the line wasn't moving very well and there wasn't enough PlayStations to go around obviously. She put in her two weeks. I believe next year was going to be her last year but this was the straw that broke the camel's back. She didn't deserve that. Yeah there's some bad apples out there, but most of these employees are people

Sadly I had 0 luck with Walmart and Best Buy from what little trying I was able to sneak in at work. Missed Newegg completely and didn't even know Target dropped today.

Skull I saw your deleted post about wanting to use a scalper bot just to get your own, and you know what, at this point, if you did that and only used it to get the one for yourself and that's it, I probably wouldn't even question the ethics of it. I wouldn't do it myself unless this truly turns into a Wii situation where we're two and a half years past launch and it's still unreasonably difficult to get, but I don't really blame anybody for wanting to go that route.

Honestly I wouldn't suggest or consider a bot. They are getting easier and easier each time and scalpers are gonna back off as they feel the holiday season is passing. Unless you need it right away, it's only probably a few weeks difference at this point.

Yeah I deleted my post not out of morals but mainly out of ignorance. I realized that good scalper bots are like hundreds of dollars so at that point you might as well just buy from a scalper (which is also something I'm not going to do).

I mean at the end of the day there's really no reason to own a PS5 right now outside of "shiny new toy, must have" so I should probably just start focusing my efforts toward something I could use more like a 3080.

Oh, I somehow managed to get one during the 3:30 Walmart drop - I kept mashing the add to cart button before noticing it somehow was in my cart despite the error messages.

Though now I'm in this negative void of feeling like the order will somehow be cancelled.

Surprisingly enough it ended up being from Amazon. The big game changer was joining a stock notification discord - you still have no chance if you're not there in seconds, so those can help a lot in leveling the playing field. Even then, though, it took a few weeks to get the one I wanted.

PS5 queue opening on Sony Direct in 5 minutes. There's a pre-queue waiting room right now so maybe you can get lucky and get put at the front of the line if it's truly randomized.
