Gonna do 3 pulls on this banner and then wait to see what the leaks say we have in store. Apparently Barbatos is our next EX character, or Rokuro. Ill pass on the former but Ill consider the latter depending on if his skills are decent.

barbatos was the "NO ITEMS EVER" guy from destiny that would attack you if you were afk levelling by rubberbanding. he's absurdly strong as is but he'd mystic arts you immediately if you tried to use items. he's voiced by wakamoto and he's glorious. also appeared in destiny 2, and was a cameo boss in vesperia

Swap Eizen for Eleanor, and that's my go-to party. I also tended not to use Rokuro when the story didn't need him, unless you count chaining the Mystic Artes. That was often fun for deleting bosses' health bars.

Generic, fussy swordsman who has spent half his life at that point hunting local beasts for food, and susceptible to saying foot-in-mouth worthy things, and requires half a million Reverse Dolls to stand toe--to-toe with Cless. But hey, at least he cares about stuff for bareboned altruistic reasons, I guess.

I want to watch The Devil is a Part-Timer, but NF only has the subbed version... so I'm kinda tempted to just read the manga instead. Really haven't felt like watching a subbed series in a while. Same reason I haven't got around to watching some j-horror recently.

Otherwise I might try watching Magi: Legend of Sinbad. It doesn't look too promising (and I think I glanced at part of the manga at some point), but at least it's dubbed so I can watch it while doing other stuff.

Most of the manga I've been reading has hit a standstill and I haven't found anything particularly promising to replace it.

ffs, the amount of exposition in Sinbad is fucking insane. It feels like half of the first episode so far has been narration, with a good chunk of the rest being characters going through exposition. And pretty much none of it is necessary. If they'd skipped some events, they could have forgone a lot of needless crap which added nothing to the story.

EDIT: This series is somehow even worse than I thought it'd be (and borderline nonsensical)... but I'm hooked.

EDIT2: They sent a military convoy, with multiple soldiers and a commander to a remote village... after one normal guy who had refused to enlist? wtf? No wonder they're losing the war, with inefficient usage of manpower like that.

You could always watch the devil is part timer dubbed on a different site. It's good and I hear the dub is pretty solid as well.

I watched episode 1 of tonikawa (the one where the guy gets married right off the bat) and it was a lot better than I was expecting. Will watch more today. Been trying to watch at least 1 episode of anime per day to see if I can like, build up a tolerance or something.

Also watching enough vtubers in japanese that I figured I'd just brush up on japanese in general. Might as well try and get something out being so debilitated. Been trying to do a few minutes work on rpg maker as well. At this rate it will only take like 500 years to finish a short game...

Health wise I got my latest results. White cell and platelets are down pretty low which is very concerning but liver enzymes went back to my normal levels (which is about 2x what they should be) and thats a HUGE relief. If the white cells start coming back up I'll be in decent shape and will probably go ahead with the gallbladder surgery in about a month. There's a chance I end up able to eat real food for xmas and what a miracle that would be. Trying not to get my hopes up too high though.

Watched the first episode of jujutsu kaisen. Episode 1 was actually pretty good. The premise kind of reminds of yuyu hakusho except with curse instead of spirit. Might try and watch a second episode of it today. I've been so freaking bored though, I think I might try playing something despite the pain. Not sure what to play though. Maybe I'll get the Nioh 2 DLC and play that.

As of last night, I was 4 episodes into Magi: Sinbad which very well might be the worst anime with a budget that I've watched. It's comically bad. The jokes have all failed to land, but the "serious" moments and sheer improbability of stupid shit cracks me up.

My annoying chronic condition triggers over all sorts of stuff, including watching anime. I have no clue why anime causes it and not say, youtube videos. Music also triggers it. My whole nervous system is fucked up so I'm guessing that has something to do with it. I do notice anything with low framerate causes the same issues and all anime is low framerate so perhaps that is it but even just listening does it. I really don't understand the method to this madness.

Anyway, hoping to just suffer through the symptoms once or twice a day and see if I end up tolerating it better. So far, no. Still makes my whole body feel super cold and I get goosebumps and then feel that neuropathic heat thing along my spine and have trouble breathing.

Its not on shonen jump and mangastream/the other big manga piracy websites of 1+ years ago didnt carry it, so the only people who went out of their way to read it were people who REALLY liked Soul Eater and followed the artist

Shes pretty decent as a 3rd slot fighter. Keeps up a good debuff relatively often and Light is a good neutral type. If you invest in her a bit, shell be a great addition to almost any team you have holes in.

I agree Alt Milla is 10x better

Magi: Sinbad continues to be terrible. However, I'm increasingly suspecting that the anime *must* be doing something like greatly abridging events because Hina's love interest -- Rurumu -- isn't even shown until he asks for hand in marriage from the chief. Plus the level of expository narration continues to fucking insane. I'm not sure I've ever seen this much info dumping. Not to mention that they waste large amounts of time on recaps.

Put Yuri up front. And maybe take out Stahn if you havent invested in him yet (he has the defense of a wet paper bag and low levels exacerbate the problem). Youll do better damage if you have Yuri open up a turn with a good combo, then Milla for the Debuff, then Reid (Burn) and Velvy (Curse does fat damage)

Yeah, the first season of Magi (24 episodes?) covered 100 chapters of material and skipped out on a BIG thing that happens immediately after they finished that dungeon the bad guys outright decide to just kill them then and there, after theyre already barely alive, and Morgiana basically has to solo them herself. And fails in a big way

The anime just has those bad guys get offed before they can actually jump them.

Sinbads pacing was already bad, but the anime abridging it further made it nearly incoherent.

If the franchise was going to continue like that, Im glad its dead. What Magi needed was an adaptation that took its time, like MHA.

Thats basically all they have for characters now. And some alts.

We do have Dhaos and Barbatos (Coming Monday), and Mieu, so theyre willing to diversify the cast. But all three of those characters have been limited availability EX pulls.

Finished chapter 61 of Dorei Yuugi and... wtf, is that seriously the end of the series? Because what the fuck? You get this climatic final battle where his team wins the battle against all odds but, for whatever reason, winds up losing the game because... I don't get it. I thought once one team was defeated, that was the end. Instead, early on it just became an unwinnable scenario since the second the villain's team damaged a portion of their stage they no longer had to worry about blocks.

Then there's the fact that, if it's the ending, that's ridiculously rushed since we get the conclusion to the fight, the fallout as he decides to save his team instead of trying to break the stage like the villain did, and then -- because he lost -- he winds up a slave. The series felt like it was setting up for at least 8 story arcs, one for each city, but it might have ended in the second city.

Granted, I'm looking and supposedly there's going to be a series called Dorei Yuugi: Guren so... maybe that will offer more of a resolution? Because this doesn't so much feel like an ending as it does a cliffhanger.

I have fallen to a deeper level of vtuber hell. All the normal youtube channels I watch haven't been uploading shit so it's been like 12 hours of vtubers a day. Seen a lot of hololive jp/EN, nyanners, the lewd crew, seen some pikamee, some artemis, anya, watched a bunch of haachamas cursed as fuck cooking videos and some other compilations with other people. Right now though I'm hooked on hana macchia (from nijisanji ID) streaming with her dad. It's legit comedy gold. Her real life dad who is a twitch streamer in boston or something like that just chills in voice chat on some of her streams and memes his daughter and the chat and it's amazing.

You know, I think Dorei Yuugi encapsulates my frustration with manga in general. You have an interesting (or even good) premise but shaky writing/storytelling and so-so art, which is kind of enough to get you into the series despite thinking it's not that great. Within 10 or 20 chapters, you wind up invested enough that you want to keep following it and see how it ends. Then, either because of the industry's nature -- where titles are canceled due to lack of sales or the mangaka focuses on other projects -- you get either an oddly forced, kinda rushed ending that feels completely unsatisfying or no ending at all.

Granted, some of these issues are a broader problem among serialized content (which sets things up not knowing when it's going to end), but they're magnified in manga given how that industry operates. With a tv show, you could see changes season-to-season. With a manga, it's either week-to-week (or chapter-to-chapter, once it's collected elsewhere) or volume-to-volume so it's across a shorter span of time.

While the solution might be to just look for things that were big enough to start to get an adaptation or look at heavily-reviewed popular series, a lot of cooler stuff is kinda under the radar.

I barely watch anime anymore and almost exclusively a manga reader. The only anime I'm interested in is BLEACH final arc next year. Please just fix the damn ending. They should use the light novels to fill in tons of holes.

As for manga I'm really backed up. The main one is Kingdom which I still have 100s of chapters to read but before that I'm trying to get up with shorter ones like Dr. STONE and JJK. And JoJo's too sigh. I downloaded part 7 a year ago and haven't started yet lol.
