so in the fire fighter anime, i'm at the part where the big goofy lookin kid goes back home, which is the chinese peninsula where his family is potato farmers

and his, and his moms, accent switches back to this very stereotypical american southern accent, but the kid looks very clearly chinese, despite his mom just looking like generic anime mom

it's incredibly fuckin weird and out of place. the shit they are saying does not fit either character

it's been a pretty great dub so far, but this...is questionable.

Any sort of farmer dialect and often kansai dialect defaults to southern accent in dubs for some reason. I feel it is a horrid mistake but it is what it is.

boy this danmachi game is just not okay

so the pull currency, the premium currency, they have two different versions.

it's the same thing, except there's the gems that you earn by playing and doing things, and then they put paid gems in a separate thing. they're both the same gems, just they want you to know, that you're a piece of shit for using the free ones.

how? because there's 2 banner pulls that accept free gems, and like 7 that are paid gems only. you don't even get better odds on the pulls.

also, and this is an aside, but the app kinda really sucks. it's glitchy, it's weirdly laggy in places where it wasn't before, and if the screen goes off, and you turn it back on, all the clickable icons are...black squares. it's weird.

they also force the voice packs on you CONSTANTLY. no matter WHAT YOU DO, it's always "HEY DOWNLOAD THE VOICES?" i don't fuckin' want them. there's no option to make it stop doing it, either, there's only "delete voice packs after you're done with whatever needed that one" it's fuckin stupid. and the "story" is just stock regular danmachi story, told with occasional stills of the anime, except in what would be like, 1 minutes work of the show, is...several "episodes" in the game. it's nuts. you get around 3 lines of dialogue per "story" episode, which is even less on a non-story one, if it has dialogue at all. it took longer for bell to get the hestia knife in this game, than it took for hestia to convince heph to make it, then the actual making of it, and then her finally giving it to him.

and another thing, i just looked at the shop, because i want to know how much the shit costs in this game. it's $20 for one 11 pull. that seems normal, i guess. or at least, it did. until i saw it say that that price was "one time only!"

no, regular price is $40. get the fuck out of here.

you would pull a fully digivolved ssr digimon, but get it in its rookie form and have to upgrade it to the actual form you got which took an insane amount of materials

I was going to buy Nioh 2 from BBuy for $10 then saw "standard edition" so I looked at what other shit is out for it and apparently it has a complete edition for the ps5... so I might just wait a few years and get that when it's on sale for $10.

At any rate, right now I want to get Trials of Mana (and Uncharted Lost Legacy) from BBuy but that only brings me to $30 and I don't feel like paying for shipping, but I can't find anything else I really care to get.

Didn't the games have problems with translation and grammar mistakes?

I remember reading something about translating the word "monster" to "bakemon" which is likely a direct romanization of 'bakemono'; but the problem was there was already a digimon called "Bakemon" in english which caused some confusion.

And also some texts don't change even if you're playing as a girl so you'll get referred to as "he" or "him" sometimes.

Speaking of vtubers, vshojo's new talent, froot, debuted 2 days ago. I like her so far. Hope to see her end up in the colabs with nyanners and melody and mouse and silver which I think is the point.

In other news I bought a bunch of games on the steam sale. Finally grabbed god eater 3 after almost buying it like 4 sales in a row. Grabbed ni no kuni 2 since it's under 10 bucks. Grabbed and have been playing gujian 3 which is a chinese action rpg. Has really good looking characters and environments. The gameplay is pretty fun and the base building aspect unlocked in act 2 is addicting. So far would recommend since it's cheap as hell.

It does have a kind of meh translation though. There haven't been any points where I can't tell what they are supposed to be saying but a fair amount of typos and grammar errors. It's also very linear and story focused for the first 7 or so hours. After you get out of nameless depths, the game gets a lot more fun IMO.

Fate / Stay Night discussion has returned? Hmm. *digs up opinions* All right. I enjoy the first anime (especially the soundtrack), I love Zero, I enjoy U.B.W. Good stuff. (The Heaven's Feel movies are amazing, though.) But I got tired of VN fans dunking on the animated versions ... to the point that I am sick of the VN, or at least of that branch of the fandom. And there are now so many Fate spin-offs that there are good (Grand Order), bad (Last Encore), ugly (Apocrypha), and inexplicable (Dinner for the Emiya Family) things for everyone to see.

So I've been steadily making my way through Three Houses.

My first playthrough I got to Chapter 4, got a good feel for the game, kinda messed up by focusing on faculty training instead of raising my professor level as soon as possible, and learned that I could have recruited the DLC characters earlier if I did it first.

So I went and finished the DLC. Kinda hard, kinda fun, sorta meaningless in the end since it kinda sits in a weird place if you think about the timeline.

Then I made a second new game, which I am on right now; Blue Lions route. Just at the start of Chapter 7, Prof level at B, and recruited Caspar first (according to something somebody mentioned here, I forgot the exact details), Dorothea, Petra, and Lysithea.

I'm kinda wondering though, is it worth it to try and recruit a lot of people? You can only bring in 10-12 people at most per map, which leaves only 1 or 2 extra slots if you want to use everyone in your house (And why wouldn't you?) Plus the game also gives you the faculty and other characters without having to invest time into raising unused skills for recruitment. What do you guys think?

Good picks for recruits. Petra is a MONSTER who is gonna compete with Felix for melee kills. Lysithea melts Death Knight with little effort, and Dorothea is dropping meteors on folks heads.

Caspar sucks, but they decided to make him necessary for Mercedes to get actual closure for whatever reason. Can he even hook up with her?
