This is the same freakout people do every time that they are somehow surprised by another "super plague" that does nothing when it reaches developed countries. When you have that many people, living in those dismal conditions, shits gonna spread and do a lot more damage.

2. It is spread through physical contact, so most of you aren't at risk anyways.

2 things to remember about the corona virus

#3. It is not "the corona virus." That is the name of a TYPE of virus that can lead to colds, SARS and other nasty diseases (and that is what is fatal). It's not its own disease; it's a category.

There's also a reliable test for it already, which is huge for an emerging epidemic and means it's going to be a whole lot easier to get under control in any place with reasonable health care infrastructure. That's not to say public health officials aren't working their asses off to make sure it won't be a problem (work which the typical "oh I guess that wasn't that big of a deal" response to a looming epidemic very ungratefully ignores), but it's unlikely to end up being a significant problem outside of China.

Again, the fact that those weren't a huge issue was a consequence of a lot of very hard work from public health workers around the world, rather than indicating that they weren't actually dangerous. Without the countermeasures that were applied, they would have been a much bigger deal for Americans. Fortunately, as citizens of developed countries, we do have access to such countermeasures. It's just important to appreciate that rather than acting as though these very dangerous diseases are inherently too trivial to be worth worrying about.

It's already affected the NYSE to where there was a 400+ point drop at the end of trading today. True that's only for today but if the trend continues, we're talking about a lot of people losing a lot of money, which doesn't bode well for the world economy. And by lost I mean people who aren't getting paid salaries, manufacturing and service companies closed, etc.

This is the perfect opportunity for USA and allies to assassinate Xi Jinping with Biological warfare
