Today has been productive. I finished my weapons from Pagos--which required me to go back and earn another Smn book from Anemos since my first one vanished--and got my first Gnb sabertooth. At the time of my writing this, I have 16,650 achievement points.

Meanwhile, in FFXI, my character is only 89 with War. One more level, and some merit points, until I try Siren again. Gods, that fight sucks.

I wish the merit points we put into attributes would affect our Trusts. The boost to strength, vitality, and HP would help. <_<

I'll keep that in mind when it's time to level alt classes. By the time such a campaign happens again, I'll probably have beaten Siren, and possibly ended the Rhapsodies story. We'll see.

this is kinda outta nowhere, but you know you can set up a macro to summon your trusts right

i didnt realize it until after i'd been 99 for a while but it makes desummoning/resummoning them as you level SO much easier, especially when you'll level every couple minutes

Yeah, I saw that in passing in a roadmapping guide I saw. I haven't set up a macro for that yet, but I may in the near-ish future.

16,700 achievement points and counting. I still have a list of things I'm working on over the next three or four weeks that will net me either more achievements or more mounts. Also, it has dawned on me that I should, during the last week before 5.3, pick up some loot from Copied Factory since it will very likely become desynthesizeable; and possibly yield the crafting mat the Dwarves will offer.

I've done it! I have finally beaten Siren in FFXI. Good gods, that took too long. I was 90 and throwing War abilities and Full Break around like mad, and barely took Siren down with my second last Trust a hit or two from death. Seriously, fuck that fight.

In my case, I tried a few other times but only died once. The other times, Siren turned on me, hit me with Charm, and then stopped attacking. The server I'm on in XI isn't the most populated, and I still have memories of waiting for a party to do anything back when I played in 05/06. At this point, it felt kind of personal between the game and me, and I needed to beat it. The worst hurdle thus far has been overcome, and so that leaves the rest of the content I mean to finish.

Then I can walk away from XI forever and maybe consider downloading City of Heroes now that it's back and free to play... for the next time there's downtime in XIV. That would be fitting, seeing as how I had quit XI for City of Heroes/Villains in 06. lol

finishing story content and rhapsodies is fun, but finding new friends in-game is even more fun! Even if it's a small group to do things with and you're only around once a week/month/every few months. In my experience only the small servers have easy access into groups that have been playing together for years and will accept new friends easily.

We often take in returning players, and even if they don't stick around it's always nice to have someone new to help get geared up or just help with harder story content (a few seekers fights, last rhapsodies fight, etc).

Nothing I enjoy more than hanging out with people trying unsuccessfully for a few hours to get a pulse weapon to drop from zitah behemoth, lol. Or farming 4/5 herc pieces for a returner and newly leveled 99. I'm glad my old in-game friends are still around. The old days never ended for me

If Paper or I are on when you are, maybe. I do have a couple questions first though.

1) Are you able to keep fc chat family friendly and pg-13-ish (with emphasis on keeping out the lewds as best as possible)?

It's semi-random for me since I work full-time. I'm on right now, but I'm running stuff and am unable to work with the player search function because of it. Maybe later tonight would be fine. I know Paper's on in the morning, most days, and getting ready to hop off by the time I hop on to check stuff. Some evenings he's on as well, though I'm not sure if there's a schedule there on his part.

I have beaten Baldesion Arsenal in XIV, and have the Demi-Ozma. It is my 119th mount. I've also begun to pick up some +2 elemental gear so whatever else I plan to do in Eureka will be that much easier. That would include my remaining Pyros and Eureka gear and the mount from Hydatos's bunny FATEs.

Combine with my ongoing goal of finishing the Gnb achievement for the second sabertooth, and yeah... I still have a goal or three to keep me occupied in XIV before the big patch.

I got another full clear of BA tonight. Four more of those, and a "Frag Run" for only twelve of the twenty-eight possible Eureka Fragments, and I will be done gearing my Bard for Eureka content. This will make it so much easier to farm the remaining crystals in Pyros and Hydatos for weapon achievements. Who knows? Maybe I will get the minion from Absolute Virtue's chest. lol

During this time, I will be doing Bunny FATEs in Hydatos and hoping the mount finally drops. If it doesn't by the time I reach 221.5mil gil (3.2mil away at the moment), I will check the mb again and possibly just buy the damned thing. If I do get it, I will consider buying a second one for my boyfriend like I had previously done with Pyros's Eldthurs mount.

It's mainly that and the second Gnb mount, as mentioned before, but also wrapping up the Gliderskin Map achievement, which has nine chest openings to go. This will all be so many things less to do when the big patch hits.

I started playing on launch day of the original 1.0 version of the game back in 2010. I just never got very far before I stopped playing entirely for several years, and I'm just now starting to get back into it.

Just finished the original portion of the ARR story the other day. Now I just need to do all the additional patch missions between that and Heavensward. :)

Alrighty. Well, let me know if you need some i115 gear made for whichever job you're on. Otherwise, I recommend picking up Poetics as best you can and getting i120 gear plus upgrade items (to get to i130). That'll last you until the 2/3 mark of the HW story.

i115 = item level 115
item level = relative gear strength; all your stats rise as you equip higher item level stuff. increases steadily as you level, then there's a range of item levels at each level cap as each new patch introduced stronger endgame gear to collect
poetics tomestones = a type of currency, used specifically for gearing up rapidly at levels 50/60/70: press ctrl+c to view currencies. you get these by doing lower-level content, especially when on a higher-level class during roulettes

poetics gear essentially puts you at peak strength for that expansion. you'll continue to outpace any gear dungeons/crafting will give you for a few levels onwards, as well, especially if you augment it (which just makes it a little stronger in exchange for a little more poetics)

I got my Petrel mount from Hydatos this evening. I am presently 1.4mil gil from buying another one off the mb and giving it to my bf, unless the bunnies in Hydatos give me that second one.

My Gnb is 232/300 on the last tank mount I have left to get.

Besides that, I have getting more tier VII crafting materia, finishing a treasure achievement for Gliderskin Maps, getting seven more clears of Baldesion Arsenal, maybe upgrading another weapon or two in Pyros or Hydatos, and then grabbing some loot from Copied Factory so I can desynth it in 5.3.

Five clears down on Baldesion Arsenal. I have also sent a Petrel mount to my bf since I was more than able, from Eureka alone, to afford* one on the MB. Five more clears of BA, and all that Eureka will have left for me are the Pyros and Hydatos upgrades to a little over half the weapons.

Also 56 tank credits to go on Gnb.

so evidently ffxi is getting new storyline stuff soon according to the latest update teaser. I imagine it's gonna be basic simple questline stuff related to the new odyssey content that was introduced a while back, which is good because there is currently no reason to do odyssey at all since you can just buy the upgrade mats from it on the AH

Yokai is returning to XIV... and this time with weapons and minions for the StB and ShB expansions. Since trial versions of the game are being expanded to HW zones and content, I suspect we'll be doing HW FATEs for the new minions, and then doing further FATE grinding with those minions out for the glam weapons hardly anyone will use. This will get me notably closer to the 10k FATE achievement. <_<

I have one clear of BA left to get for the 10x achievement, and, at this point, my War has the Physeos axe, Ele +2 boots, and the chestpiece from trading in two Cryptic Seals, so my War can probably off-tank a run or two. I do intend to finish off my War's +2 gear so I have a second well-geared job to work with, for variety's sake, during the remaining Eureka weapons; of which I have nine awaiting upgrades in Pyros.

Paper, seriously, you should come do a run of BA. It's fun. Your computer can probably handle it just fine, with or without battle effects turns down/off.

My tenth clear of BA feels cursed. My last two runs have ended with everyone taking a black hole back to town because of there being too many deaths. I may try to catch a run on Tuesday afternoon at this point when I know people are awake, but we'll see.

Meanwhile, someone who is a relative newcomer to the Gilgamesh server has been trying to topple me in the achievement rankings (https://lalachievements.com/en/ranking/achievement/Gilgamesh/standard), but I have been staying a step ahead of them. As it stands, I'm regaining the 11th Place slot when that list updates again tomorrow. Keep in mind I'm not a hardcore achievement hunter, or rather haven't been since Pagos came out. My work schedule wouldn't let me be one if I wanted to. lol

Once my tenth BA clear happens and I get 20 more runs done of content with GNB for tank mount purposes, I'll basically have everything done I want to have done before 5.3 except for stockpiling a decent number of crafting materia (at least the Command and Comp VIIs). I could do with some more Sigmascape v4 Savage clears for that mount (and second achievement), and about 5750 more wolf marks for another FFVI-related mount, but that's it at this point.

Well no, there's the Copied Factory loot I'm thinking of trying to get in the last week before patch. If I'm right, this loot will help me get the material I need for crafter and gatherer gear. Any little bit of help I can get ASAP will be nice since the third phase of Ishgard Restoration is coming in early September.

I should be done with seasonal events and Yokai by then. Oh, Yokai... More minions and weapons and another mount, all for the joy of running more FATEs. <_<

In XIV, I am two daily Frontline roulettes from getting my magitek sky armor. I am off from work today and tomorrow, so I should be getting my tenth BA clear, plus another full clear to finish up the Eureka Fragments my War requires for the second full set of Elemental +2 gear. I'm six Gnb credits away from the armored sabertooth. Also, one of the three cash shop mounts I've been eyeing is currently on sale for about 16 bucks, so I grabbed that.

These things will get me to 123 mounts. It would be nice to get more Sigmascape v4 Savage clears so I can get that mount too, seeing as how it's FFVI-related.

Quite a while. Even after the pruning and whatnot that 5.3 will be doing, the 2.0-2.55 main story may take dedicated days, if not a couple weeks. That is not counting the stories of your classes/jobs, of which you'll need to do for both vital abilities and for main scenario progression later on, or some raid series. 3.0-3.55 main story won't take as long, probably, and is where the main story finally begins to shine almost consistently rather than once every handful of levels.

If you shoot for class/job story and main story alone, count on a month or two if you have no other obligation at least to get to 5.3 content. And when certain moments or scenes happen, well, yeah... I don't want to spoil or hype up your expectations here.

wildskeeper rieve one is an easy brainless way to make money, too, once you hit level cap. people will be rotating between 3-4 of them (fuck yumcax lol) and just participating gets you guaranteed loot, including HP Bayld, which is needed in abhorrently mass quantities to get the geomancer and rune fencer ergon weapons (which is basically their equivalent of mythic weapons, mythic being ToAU-expansion relics), so it's very easy to sell them

other loot that drops may be situationally useful too as gear swaps. it's all i115 so they're usually less good than the freebie sparks you can get upon hitting 99, but stuff like store TP rings and fast cast capes and whatnot are always good to have

WKR fights can have a bunch of people inside, and everyone can summon their own trusts. one competently geared person can solo with their trusts, so it's very low-stress. fun fact: qultada, ulmia, and joachim will aoe buff everyone in content like this and the normal song limit does not apply to trusts, so they're nice if you want to just speed things up as a low-geared player. summoner blood pact buffs work too but that requires being summoner (but aoe haste 2 hitting 50+ targets is hilarious)

you may need to start Seekers of Adoulin to access them but it's definitely worth starting that expansion early because you have to spend a currency that slowly replenishes in order to advance in it (...although i think one of the rhapsody items reduces the number you need to spend?)

I just got my tenth BA clear. I'm free of that curse, and no longer obligated to run BA. Now I can kick back and relax since there's so little left to do before patch 5.3. I'll probably get one more weapon done for achievement purposes, and leave the last eight of them while waiting for 5.35 when Bozja comes out.

How would you feel about doing some old content on Tuesday or Wednesday this coming week? I'm off from work those days, and only need to go out to run a couple errands. There are a couple Omega Savage raids I'd like to run more for achievements, and O8s doubly so for the mount. I know you said something about 12s being one you need a mount from?
