I got my Fae Gwiber tonight. The party I pugged with consistently beat Titania between the second Mist Rune and the pair of flaming hands that come down, like usually during the stack markers, and there were times when we skipped the Shiva circles before going to the adds (with Titania at 18-ish percent).

So now I have two gwibers, with one of them being one of two that I want most (Hades being the other I want but don't have yet), and a current total of 117 mounts.

I've been doing a little here and there with grinding out Merits via spiders and morbols in the Boyahda Tree. I'm not trying for max yet (just 5-6 points into each attribute, and some levels of crit rate), if ever, but I'm picking up a reasonable lead on that before I spend three such merits (and however many Kindred Seals) on raising my level cap to 80. Once that quest is done, I'll need to figure out where's best to level from 75/76 to 80.

I still need to go back and beat Siren in the Rhapsody mission(s) too, though I don't remember what the third rhapsody item gets me. I do, however, intend to continue my story progression with my starting city, Zilart, and so on once I'm 80+.

In XIV, I've finished my Crystarium gear for my main jobs, and am going to need to make some mats soon so I don't have to waste as much time on that when making my new crafter/gatherer gear next patch. I'm also keeping an eye out for anything fun to do such as working on my tank mounts via Lakshmi Ex. I have more Eureka to do too just so I'll be done with Pagos for good.

if you want to level at those levels, escha zitah is actually pretty easy. it has mobs of all levels mix in different spots. can go to about 90 there or maybe 88 or so. I used to go there at like 50 and stay till 90

escha zitah is a part of rhapsodies questline, and if you haven't pushed as far into rhapsodies as you can, you absolutely should for the exp boosting stuff. entrance is adjacent to qufim hp

you can't do absolutely ALL of rhapsodies until 99 but you can do the vast majority of it and get most of the qol benefits (timers on a lot of content is cut drastically like from one week to one minute or removed entirely in the case of dynamis, curio moogles sell an increasing number of really nice items like ammo and a variety of food, allowing trusts to be called in more content, etc)

Well yeah, I had done the first two when I was in my upper 50s and realized there was a nice QoL theme to the Rhapsody rewards, as if the rewards were meant to help catch newer players up. I started the third set of quests when I read ahead and saw that a lv75 party is recommended for Siren (not sure how true?), and I had already been 68 by that time. I'm 75 now, and working on Merits a bit. This seems like a bit of a jump from beating Shadowlord at 50, which was also the level of that first Rhapsody NM in Qufim.

Yes... I recall visiting there during a scene in the second set of Rhapsody quests, but I'm not sure if I can go in yet or if I have to wait until later in that story.

XIV's launcher does that at random in general, and for a select number of people it goes on for longer than the one attempt.

Promyvion seemed neat as a concept when I did those first three, but also like Square did nothing more than present the concept by stuffing it in the middle of the story they wanted to tell. More rather the story and gameplay had to take a huge break for those areas for which obtaining maps is not worth the effort since you have to get an uncommon drop from an uncommon mob and trade it to one of a few spots at the end of the area that you probably have no intent on returning to anyways.

I just ended up using marked maps on the internet and using my coordinates to guesstimate where I was . It still sucked. Also, at some point, they added random level 90 mobs in there so there's extra danger if you aren't capped!

I did get a "server record" on boss kills, at least. Because those records reset when weekly maintenance happens. And noone else was doing promyvion that whole week apparently. >_>

I recently-ish had to return to promyvion to find some blue mage spells and it was even worse than just clearing the stages naturally. You had to hunt three specific enemies of which there were literally only 1-2 of on the entire level and feed tp to wait for them to use the desired skill.... and one of the enemies had a pool of like 12 skills to choose from. And, of course, it's not a 100% chance to learn anyways even if they do use it.... I'm so glad I'm done with that place forever, why did they have to shove great spells in there.

Well, trying to get the Perle armor set is a pain in the bum on Levi since even saying I'm willing to buy it isn't rousing enough attention. I just need something to last my War (and other tank jobs) from 78 to 99. At the moment I'm getting more use out of XIV's Lord of Verminion. <_<

It's almost like no one in their right mind wants to run that content if they can help it. I mean, yesterday I got the record on the job-changing mammets, and was hardly trying aside from occasionally swapping targets whenever one started recovering as I hit it.

I went naked for most of 1-99 for most classes, honestly. Trusts too OP. If I did want armor I just settled for sparks stuff cuz that's stuff so easy to get, and you can recycle it for money after you're done with it (all sparks gear has same sparks-to-gil ratio).

Yeah, I had thought of that for Sparks gear, but that stops for armor around the lv50s, in time for the first set of AF gear. I like having some armor for the times that multiple monsters aggro, and my Trusts are only killing or holding one at a time. Of course, it's possible I don't have enough good Trust NPCs to see this OP-ness I keep reading about; I have Shantotto II on the regular, and swap around the others with Lion being a regular.

Ugh... Siren is perhaps the worst singlular fight I've had to do thus far, if only because of her high defense, her habit of being healed by wind or a couple combos, her love of silencing or removing your buffs, and the audacity she has to Charm you if you're in front of her, thus causing all Trusts to go bye-bye.

if you have gessho (or can get him relatively soon... he's locked behind like 10-15 ToAU missions), he's a really great tank except for fights where he's not (example: aoes that wipe blinks). amchuchu is also really good (super good at holding threat), and the rest are all kinda ok

apururu/yoran-oran, both unity concord trusts, are the best healers. if you aren't in a UC, go join one of theirs, you literally can't go wrong with either (the rest of the UC leaders all really suck except sylvie, who holds a unique niche but isn't nearly as good as these two). the thing that makes them op is their access to convert (swaps hp and mp) and their AI making them stay far away from the fight, which makes them infinite healing batteries basically. yoran-oran also stoneskins himself and has afflatus solace, which applies a stoneskin to anyone he cures for a mini-shield. apururu's benefits are mainly more job actions for healing. both also have innate TP regain and a weaponskill that restores their own mp

specifically about siren, if you use a tank trust, you don't have to worry about charm. it's a conal aoe centered on whoever has aggro, and trusts aren't affected by charm at all. the best solution is to try to find someone to help though, she's really tough for when you're able to fight her

Yeah, I've been in Naja's UC and have been wondering if I should switch to another. I'll swap to yoran probably, if what you say is true.

I'm also going to level more so that fight will be easier on my next attempt. Back to Mer-what's-it Coast outside Tavnazia so I can fight those birds for a while. After I cap off at 80 and do the next Limit Break, allowing me to pop that objective and reach 81 (because lol), I'll try again, unless the couple levels won't be enough of a difference in power. I had had Siren down to about 40% when she turned around and hit me with Charm. Maybe two or three levels won't be adequate.

I'm mostly doing XI for closure so it can stop weighing on me as the big game I left behind. Other games I've quit hadn't burdened me like XI had. Now I'm going through it, unlocking and doing various content for stories and job leveling, and getting the jobs leveled until I've sated this beast finally.

I already made the UC switch, and am waiting for Yoran to appear on my Trust list so I can summon and use them. I am working on the merit points now, and mean to pour a few more points into each stat, though we'll see how long I stick to this idea before moving on.

I encountered someone in Den of Rancor the other night who helped me get a Perle set for my War. I spotted them running around and killing things, which was cool, and I had gotten three of the four torches lit for that damned door (for Zilart mission) when I did a player search and asked them if they needed the door at all. By the time they responded, I was halfway to getting my fourth rancor flame, and I saw them again killing stuff around the four torches. They asked if I needed anything, and I asked if they or anyone they knew could help me get this armor set. Half an hour later, they told me to check my delivery box. So yay for having appropriate gear. lol

XI is definitely great if you think of it as a game to play through nowadays just for the story. Obviously all the grindy terrible stuff is still there otherwise, but I think it's great that now it's accessible from a soloing all the storyline point nowadays. I know there are some fans of the series that probably missed out on it because it's an MMO, but at least they can get through all the story stuff just for closure these days.

and ugh, screw that door! thank goodness for homepoints being everywhere these days and being warpable. And awesome that you got help from somebody. I think it's the only MMO i've played where even now all people that are still around want to do is help. I think it's probably because of when we used to have to do literally EVERYTHING together in the game lol. It built great relationships/friends and everyone just wants to help everyone else progress. There are obviously still a few bad eggs once in a while, but on the whole the community is great. I hope you get a good ls with some nice people to chat with :)

ffxi feels kind of aimless for people who have already basically done everything, so people are a lot more willing to just randomly help than other games

been a part of a few linkshells over the years and people will usually hop in to do whatever random stuff you need help with

Crit Rate and my War's Double Attack rate both went up by 5% before I did the limit break to get past lv80. As per usual, I popped the relevant Limit Break objective for the extra experience, and that pushed me to level 81. Now to get to 85 and take another shot at Siren. Then I can finally progress again in RoV and get into the second Escha area.

Meanwhile, it's reset time in XIV. I do not need to worry about weekly times anymore until 5.4, so it's a matter of doing a few other things in that game as I prepare for 5.3. lol

I made a bunch of 3* mats HQ like I had intended, but then I realized I may need some more Merbau Lumber for the crafting and gathering tools. I'll get on that soon. I may or may not also need to make a few more helpings of crafting food, and more certainly a bunch of gathering food.

As I gather raw mats for the crafted 3* mats, or things in Diadem, it's helping me also pick up a ton of gathering materia so I won't have to mess as much with that in 5.3. Crafting materia is also moving along a bit thanks to the weekly Deliveries.

I'm hoping I can and will be ready when the patch comes, and that the beast tribe mat can also be easily gathered with desynth. I'm going to hit that set of gear hard and fast.

Suddenly I'm reminded of Ultima Online by the time I tried it. It sort of makes me glad I have zero interest in making money in XI (currently 1.3mil on Florah) like I've done in XIV (213.3mil on Aster and 1.7mil on Lyra), and there's hardly any point for it since I can resolve my closure without making too much in the former game.

Yeah, I've started telling a couple coworkers who play, or are interested in playing, that this patch is likely to happen on the 14th. I'm thinking I should go through my company's website to secure my Tuesday and Wednesday for that week so I don't end up with stupid days off like Monday and Thursday.

Though I do need to learn and clear E5s for some accs at some point. Being a little closer to 500 might be good before 5.4, and I have a while before needing to get there.

I've finished making my 3-star mats for what I estimated and hope will be enough for the crafter set in 5.3. Fifteen Duskcourt Cloth, over ten Megalania Leather, fourteen Purpure Beads, seventeen Merbau Lumber, and thirty-nine Cobalt Alloy Ingots - all HQ. They're sitting on my retainer until the patch hits.

As for the two days, the 14th and 15th, I put in to have them off even though I've been having Tuesdays and Wednesdays off most weeks, but the work company's website is still listing the request as pending. Fingers crossed. It would be nice to have patch day and the following day off so I can do the things at the best time to do them. =p

That's a whole extra month to get things done in XIV and XI, as well as doing some writing projects, before the big patch. Of course my work finally approved of the 14th and 15th off for this month on the same day Yoshida announced August 11th as the patch date. As well, when the 15th of July is over, I'll put in for the 11th and 12th to secure those unpaid days off since that should be fine.

I'm about four days from finishing my Pagos weapons. More clears of O8s are needed so I can get the mount, though the achievement might be nice too. I should get the first sabertooth for Gnb at least, though the second one would be good. If only rng would be kind enough to give me the Hydatos mount too. lol

Also: the materia stockpiles continue.

In XI, I got War to 87 so far. I have too much else to do to push to 99 in that game, such as writing projects I've put off for too long and moving a few stories from one site that's imploding atm to another site (damn online drama). I still haven't beaten Siren either, with my best attempt having been the time I brought her down to a nub of health; the next attempt at 90 should do it. Fuck that fight.

I'm not 100% sure. I'd have to ask my boyfriend when he is awake and neither of us are at work--he's a Legacy player as well--but by that time you might get an answer from someone that might know it.
