Even after the pruning and whatnot that 5.3 will be doing, the 2.0-2.55 main story may take dedicated days, if not a couple weeks. That is not counting the stories of your classes/jobs, of which you'll need to do for both vital abilities and for main scenario progression later on, or some raid series. 3.0-3.55 main story won't take as long, probably, and is where the main story finally begins to shine almost consistently rather than once every handful of levels. If you shoot for class/job story and main story alone, count on a month or two if you have no other obligation at least to get to 5.3 content. And when certain moments or scenes happen, well, yeah... I don't want to spoil or hype up your expectations here.
