Apparently I'm garbage at everything because I found people to fill, but this pissed off other people in the static because they had their own ideas how to handle things and they didn't tell me, so now I have to fill more spots. :) And this is on top of running a second static for BLU stuff for my FC. Oh and people in the savage static know people in the BLU static and told them not to raid with me because they're salty so now I have to fill people for both statics. :) Not my fault 2 people quit the savage static at the last minute and I kinda just got thrust into the leadership role because I didn't think anyone else wanted to do it.

I've never had to talk to a GM before, but they were really friendly and helpful. In Ruby EX this random bard was acting like an asshole, claiming he didn't know what savage was, while wearing eden's gate savage gear, and wearing an ultimate weapon and an ultimate title. And when I'd try to explain mechanics, he was not helpful, going "I don't know what that is!" and clearly like mocking me. So we get to phase 2, and I'm explaining the mechanics. And before we even pull this bard goes "Dis fight is too hawd. :(" and drops. So this guy just intentionally wasted our time for shits and giggles. Hope he gets suspended and it fucks up his prog.

But yeah I was surprised how fast the GM got back to me, they were super helpful. And after our conversation was done, they were like "Go forth, Paper Cup, throw wide the gates! Restore the darkness! Save the world!" which is so cheesy but so cool. XD

I have a working macro that can HQ the i480 gear with NQ mats as long as rng doesn't screw me on a poorly timed Poor condition. One or two HQ mats, which are easy to get, can nullify that risk. As a result I made seven weapons, including two for Rioka.

Now I need to make some gear so my main jobs will feel useful in current content.

Also I got the ocean fishing minion but not the mount. It's neat, I got the 400 fish variety achievement from it. Just wish the fish were more valuable. Everything has a desynth score of 1, and a sell price of like 3-15 gil, and are market prohibited. The rewards are not good outside of the achievements lol. But I think it's probably the best way to level fsh atm.

And 2 days later I finally cleared Ruby. It should NOT have taken that long, but pugs. Phase 1 is harder. Phase 2 is stupid easy once you see what's going on. Hardest part in phase 2 is the dps check on comets, since you have to just get in there and do it and there's little room for error.

My War, Gnb, Whm, and Sch are now i470 thanks to the 480 gear I made them. I still need to make gear for Bard, and over time I'll be getting tome gear for those other slots. For now I am content with my mains (plus Gnb) being able to run content.

As stated before, once Gnb is 480+, I will set up some RathEx farms for leveled-and-geared tanks who are interested. Until then, I have a normal mode trial and Eden to catch up on.

I've spent some Allegory on a belt for my Bard already, and have some mats gathered already for some pieces I mean to craft for the physical ranged jobs. I'm hoping it'll be enough to push Brd to 470 so I have that as an option when doing more relevant content.

Speaking of which, I need to do Ruby nm and Eden 5-8 normal. Of course my work schedule has to get in the way a wee bit, but hopefully I can get Eden done, at least, before the weekly reset.

Eden 5-8 normal cleared. I got a drop from each, allowing me to replace three of my retainer's i350 slots with i480, as well as the Ryne minion. I also made the desired gear for my Bard, bringing that job up to i473; the remaining slots will be covered via allegory tome gear over time like with the tanks and healers.

I still gotta do Ruby normal too. =p

Got my Ruby lance, and a few normal pieces, so now I'm 475. Should be able to pug a 5s clear no problem, and maybe step into 6s tonight, we'll see!

I am also without gwibers at the moment, but I've yet to clear any ShB Ex fights. <_<

Once I finish Blm (2/3 of a level to go) and Mch (8 levels to go), I will have Amaro, which should bring me to 106 or higher.

Abar made me some crafted gear, so I'm 481 now, and I overmelded 1 8 and as many 7s as possible to every single piece XD I'm totally pimped out. And it didn't cost me a single gil, I have hundreds and hundreds of materia and clusters lying around. lol

In FFXI, people were so concerned with their reputation that they made sure they learned their jobs and the fights.

In FFXIV, I remember mastering Titan EX when it first came out within a few hours. Everyone else in the group would still be fucking up like a full day later. And I was the DRG.

AND.. when it comes to these types of games, I dont consider myself good at all. I did have an amazing BcoB group, though. Monday mornings, bright and early, wed go in... destroy it, and not see or talk to each other til the next Monday(I believe thats when it reset). But anyway, yeah, it was folks sucking at fights that made me quit. Lol... but for some reason I keep buying the expansions.

I mean, I definitely recognize people in this game that were assholes in the past and I actively avoid them. One time in that cave in the cliff right by town in Pagos my group was farming there, and this prominent crafter on my server that I won't name came up and threw a fucking tantrum that he couldn't have that spot, and did everything in his power to disrupt us. So eventually I was like "for fuck's sake, fine you baby" and left. Because it was just a waste of time to try and continue. I still try to avoid any contact with this person.

we get to tethers semi-consistently but it all kinda falls apart there when someone messes up there, but as far as i can tell that's the last new mechanic and the fight just repeats mechanics over and over after that

end up with a LOT of aetherflow these days since people are taking a lot less avoidable damage

Yep, I imagine four days tops until I'm all capped on levels, and two more days after today until I'm rank 7 with the new tribe. After that is mostly the weekly tomes and progress on the Gnb tank mounts, which I'm going to set up some unsynced Rath Ex fights along the way to push that forward a good bit.

At some point I want to learn and clear O8s so I can get that mount as well.

I also completed the Mch quest, cleaning my map out of all non-repeatable quests except for one of the BLU ones I ought to go back for, and picked up my Amaro, bringing me up to 108 mounts at the time of this post.

I've been trying to learn some of the shadowbringers extremes, it's been a lot more fun than I thought it would be, I still suck though, especially at ruby weapon's.

I join Ruby farm parties every day, and I'm lucky if I can get more than 1 clear XD I don't think it's a difficult fight, but for some reason pugs seems to struggle with it. I will say this, phase 2 is a LOT easier than phase 1.

Just wanted to report that I recently started playing an MMO called Black Desert Online and I've played it for like over a week now and it's nowhere near as good as FFXIV.

BDO is an entirely different beast, yeah; comparing themepark to open ended MMOs will always leave you with strong opinions one way or the other. I still think its economy/crafting/land management systems are better non-combat activities than XIV has to offer, but overall XIV is so much more polished in comparison.

Yeah sometimes I think about branching out into other games, just to try them and compare, since XIV is my first real MMO. I did play WoW Classic for a month last year, and I did enjoy my time with it, but I refuse to give Blizz more money. I think I might like ESO, but whenever it's on sale, I'm too busy with other things to care. lol

PSO2 will be a nice diversion. It's super casual friendly, you're encouraged to play in 20-30m bursts a few times a day/week instead of endless grinding, and it's also really fun. It's kinda like really fast paced monster hunter.

It's also not really a traditional mmo with an open world though, it's kind of like DFO in that everything is instanced.

ffxi 10 bucks right now on steam! of course theres a subscription fee... but a two week free trial as well I think before you need to? It's something goofy

I personally think it's worth playing just to get through the stories of all the main game and expansions. Obviously the rest of it is just a terrible grindfest because it's an MMO and an older one at that (no matter how much quality of life additions its had, its still a grind)

JP PSO2 was 2012. They had a website up for the eng release for like 5 years but eventually it just got silently canned, then brought back now in 2020. The JP->EN patch has worked flawlessly for most of the game's lifespan so everyone who was interested in playing it has been playing it for the last half a decade.

nah, never asura. I play with a group of people I've known for years on lakshmi so population is nary an issue. Asura is good for people that always want to be able to do something at any time of day with shout groups I will say, and the AH stock is of course better.
