He didn't make this one because of polling BS (he hit 5%+ on dozens of polls, they just "didn't count"). He's been trending up and he's been getting plenty of attention.

Also the polling mechanics themselves disadvantage candidates like Yang in the way that they are run and the way they are weighted.

Unless I completely missed it the plans to get rid of student debt does nothing for the people who got fucked over student loans but were able to pay the bills. Like just because you can pay your bills on time doesn't mean you are well off, at least personally i know i've had to have weeks of really cheap meals in order to make bill payments on time.

For every silly idea Steyer has (Term limits LOL), his head (or at least his voice) is in the right place on a lot more issues honestly.

I'm still not going to support him in the primary because fuck the idea of a billionaire essentially trying to buy the nomination/Presidency

Unfortunately "alright" for Biden is going to be considered a great performance. He's graded on a different curve than everyone else. As long as he doesn't screw up too bady it will sadly help him (or at the very least keep him treading water).

I used to group Steyer and Bloomberg together but after looking into them both more Steyer is leagues better than Bloomberg. He's pretty solid on a lot of stuff, actually. But like you said, he isn't who I would pull for in the primary but I at least wouldn't be too grumpy if he won the nomination (an impossibility at this point, but just speaking theoretically).

It's really about the voters at this point. Bernie has made a gamble. A big gamble. If he can't bring the young voters out, Biden is the nominee. If he can, he can win the nomination. Don't think there are any other paths atm.

he's making a lot of sense and has stood out against the pack by having different ideas which he knows how to articulate well. same with his idea of fighting trump on the economy - that's the right approach and also the way Yang does it. without him or Tulsi, Steyer ends up being the outlier.

but i'm also in the camp that doesn't want to vote for him because fuck buying your way. like okay, if my options are Steyer or Pete, i'll pick him. but i do not want him to win.

as for the winner, it's really Biden. as inoffensive a performance as it gets, occasional jokes, occasional passion. biggest loser to me is Klobuchar, she's just come off annoying. Bernie's fine, Warren's fine, Pete's... okay. i don't like him in the first place but it sounds like he's doing what his base would like. don't see any reason why the needle would move with those 3 and Biden. Steyer should go up, Klo down. and i really, really miss Yang on this stage because it's been dry as fuck.

I love how every bleeding heart progressive has their own wildly different line of what personal choices deserve welfare. And then they wonder why their one-size-fits-all federal policies don't help anyone and no one likes them.

The fact is ALL taxes and ALL welfare are subject to this phenomenon. It's just economics and market forces, which are a fundamental fact of society and cannot be avoided. There is no policy that cannot be gambled with. And all those 200k debt people are doing is gambling on a future debt forgiveness policy. They're playing the game you designed and released into the world. And if you want to punish them for it, it's not only completely arbitrary, it's also just part of another game that another group will capitalize on.

Taxes are not fungible though. I have a much easier time selling my beanie baby collection to go buy a house than I do convincing the feds to give me back my hellfire missile money to go buy a house.

This is what people need to realize when crying about billionaires only giving 0.1% of their money to homeless people or whatever. If they just gave 50% in taxes, then that 50% could go to the homeless!!! No, that 50% would follow the same US budget that all other taxes do, which would be like maybe 0.01% to the homeless. The military and medical industrial complexes would sure be happy though (totally by coincidence I'm sure).
