The House is going to do their jobs and impeach him. But, the Senate is spineless and they will never do the right thing. So one of two things is going to happen. He narrowly loses in 2020, or, he wins in 2020, but the dems take the Senate. Then it's only a matter of time before he does something stupid and illegal again, then he's fucked. But if he loses in 2020... I can't really see him willingly leave...

Trump suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). He'll never resign.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5, 2013) indicates that a person with NPD possesses at least five of the following nine criteria, typically without possessing the commensurate personal qualities or accomplishments for which they demand respect and status:

  • Grandiosity with expectations of superior treatment from other people
  • Continually demeaning, bullying and belittling others
  • Exploiting others to achieve personal gain
  • Lack of empathy for the negative impact they have on the feelings, wishes, and needs of other people
  • Fixation on fantasies of power, success, intelligence, attractiveness, etc.
  • Self-perception of being unique, superior, and associated with high-status people and institutions
  • Need for continual admiration from others
  • Sense of entitlement to special treatment and to obedience from others
  • Intense envy of others, and the belief that others are equally envious of them

That's not really what resigning means.

Resign means leaving office before his term ends. What you're describing would just be him declining to run for reelection.

Which might actually be the most likely outcome. Because he's not getting removed, and he's definitely not resigning. I could see him stepping aside, or being too egotistical to acknowledge that he might lose and just running again.

I could also see him winning a second term if the Democrats fuck this one up and nominate the wrong candidate the way they did last time. They need to stop thinking like this is a slam-dunk can't-lose election and actually treat it seriously, or they're going to get their teeth kicked in.

I'm pretty convinced he has Alzheimer's creeping up on him. I saw some analysis (normally I roll my eyes at them done from afar) that made a really good case for it. What mainly convinced me is that it wasn't some psychiatrist shitting on him and looking really biased. His point was basically along the lines of "look at how Trump used to come across while speaking to now. Whether or not you liked what he was saying, he was at least well-spoken and eloquent much of the time." And yeah, it's kinda true. Watch old stuff of him from say 20-30 years ago, and he's got some issues. He's always been a narcissist, but this other stuff is beyond "he's just getting old" because he isn't that old. I think it's just harder to tell because he's dumb and a jerk.

The Republican national committee that nominated him.

The Democratic national committee that found an even worse choice to run against him.

According to the major political parties, the best and brightest candidates for President from the entire eligible population of the US in 2016, were a reality TV "personality" and the comedy team of Hil&billy. Sort of makes you wonder. If it was the plot of a TV show, it would be criticized as unbelievable.

The problem lies solely with the haters. They got it in their minds that he's a bad guy and will try anything to 'fix' a problem that doesn't exist. Things would be vastly more productive if they minded their own business instead of being professional victims, and let Trump do his job. Fact is he's nearing 4 years and if there was anything legit going wrong, something would have happened by now.

To answer the Q, neither remove or resign. Zero logical reasons to.

Hillary isn't a terrible politician, she just ran at the worst time for an establishment candidate. And, in general, the presidency tends to swing between parties every 8-12 years.

Strangely enough nobody mentions that, after Obama was elected, the haters picked on him for EIGHT years day in and day out. Nothing Obama did was good enough; certain people wanted him impeached for wearing the wrong colored suit or holding a cup of coffee in his hands at the wrong time, etc. Most of those haters, however, became Trump supporters; so I guess that it doesn't matter.

Assuming all Democrats vote in the Senate, there would need to be 20 Republicans to make the conviction pass. Thats not happening unless the vote is anonymous.

Trump is also too stubborn to resign. Then again Nixon seemed too stubborn to resign as well (I am not a crook.)

Resigning means you're accepting that you're unfit for the job and should let somebody else take over. That takes balls. Continuing to do a job you know you shouldn't be doing isn't ballsy, it's moronic.

Because he was elected by the American people.

That doesn't mean he should continue to be president if he's abusing that power to do clearly illegal things. That's exactly why the impeachment process exists.

I predicted it like 2 years ago jokingly, but now more seriously:
He won't resign.
If he's voted out of office, he'll have Air Force One drop him off in Russia in early January on a one way trip and refuse to go back with them, after spending the last 2 months of 2019 blatantly liquefying as many of his assets as possible and moving them to off shore accounts.
And the U.S. government will have no ability at all to stop it, despite how obvious the plan is.
He will then spend the next few years, at least, sending messages from Russia that he was "overthrown in a coup" to stir up internal strife in the U.S. at the bidding of his master, Putin.

Unless the economy finally crashes (it's been propped up SOOOO damn much by the Fed; Republicans stopped caring once it was Trump in charge) before the election, he has a good chance of re-election. People seriously seem to underestimate the power of incumbency. All the previous modern presidents that lost re-election had it happen in the midst of a recession and/or due to a third party siphoning large amounts of votes away.
Honestly, the dudes running in the Republican primary right now that are principled conservatives and have claimed (at least Bill Weld, awesome dude) that they'd do a "suicide run" for office just to help split votes from Trump have a better chance of torpedoing his re-election than the impeachment process's reveals of Trump's excesses and crimes does.

The Fed is massively propping things up. They're lowering interest rates (which were already still historically low) despite it being a "booming economy", and they're pumping ridiculous amounts of money every day into the economy to keep the "overnight lending rate" (or whatever it's called) from collapsing, which would cause the economy to then immediately collapse if it did.

But don't worry, future generations will pay for it, happily!
