Eliwood might be doable if you stick him in a forest and don't mind using up the rapier. At the very least he should be able to handle the axe guys who start behind you.

Eliwood could maybe intercept the pirates. Usually anyone with a sword can do that. It's not very helpful but it is free EXP.

If Hector can't get hurt too badly by the guys in the next chapter, I'd just take his weapon away and stick him on the throne and just wait out the clock. Then you'll get to Kent and the gem without using any resources other than a few vulneraries.

I almost softlocked and lost after getting to the village because hector got trapped and nearly ran out of axe uses. He was down to 4 when he thinned them enough to move.

I also trashed the wolf Beil when it got down to 4 uses because Erik got in there sooner than I expected and it wasn't worth missing the horseslayer drop

I did this. Just sat on the throne and took 0 damage. Pretty hilarious if you picture how miserably their assault is failing.

I'm surprised you used the Secret Book instead of selling it in a draft. Even in normal playthroughs I always sell that thing! Skill just not that good a stat

You got Kent to level 20 in Lyn Mode somehow, right? I don't even want to know how broken 20/1 Kent is early on in the main game, I've only ever promoted Sain in Lyn Mode and never had him beyond level 12 at most

I did get him to 20, yeah. I mean it's pretty simple. From the moment he's in the party, he gets every kill lol. Only exceptions being a couple kills in chapter 4 and a couple kills in chapter 9. He had ~120 kills total

Definitely go for lances, you won't be using swords all that often and getting axes to S takes forever. The 5 hit/crit on Javelins is real nice

Lmao I just game over'd turn 1.

Lyn, on a forest, got hit by a max range ballista and a pegasus knight javelin.

And, before you calling me dumb for putting her in range of the ballista, I know, I know, I know. This was so stupid. The only reason I put her there was because I accidentally left Sain within the range of the ballista without realizing it. I noticed my mistake and was like "well in the spirit of the challenge, I'll place lyn at max ballista range on a forest which is like pretty much zero chance of a hit". So that a non-roster character wouldn't get attacked.

And because I was doing that ballista thing I didn't even think to check that the pegasus knight had a javelin.

What an epic fail.

Alright, chapter 16 routed. That actually got very scary for a minute. I spent no joke about 20 minutes thinking about a move before committing.

I didn't have enough urgency in getting Kent over to the group. Almost cost me. I knew the cavaliers were coming from the top left around turn 9, and I though I'd be able to cut my way out of that corner in plenty of time. But more of the central units move west than I realized, and I got into a super sticky spot, largely thanks to the fact Bartre gets doubled by those cavaliers (and mercenaries from the center.

Need to do some research before I seize the gate to determine exactly what to do with these funds....

This is more of a medium-term concern for funds, but if you want to go for the Silver Card you may want to keep in the back of your mind that you need to go to 19x for it and how to deal with Chapters 19 to unlock it and 19x itself to get it. Kishuna can help you a bit with the latter (though he leaves after a certain turn count so you'll want to watch out that doesn't ruin you by re-enabling magic, especially since the boss himself has Bolting)

All of us are struggling as expected so I wouldn't be surprised if we do ultimately agree to just say let's all play to the end and fewest resets wins, with people having the option of tapping out if they wish.

I thought we basically agreed on that already, but then it wasn't in the draft of the rules and I just let it go

I was able to safely feed a bunch of exp to bartre, rebecca, and priscilla like so

Bartre had one level that was only speed (not super mad about it) and another that was HP, Str, and Spd. Rebecca got Str and Spd both times (and others I don't recall). Priscilla had awesome level ups too, getting 4 or 5 stats both times

Couldn't quite manage to save all 3 soldiers. Only got 2. The fact they literally suicide into archers that double them is really annoying lol

Game over based I think favours Sain even more than Kent. Kent's shitty luck makes him face a risk of death by crit a lot more frequently.

What's Bartre's speed at now? His biggest flaw is his terrible base speed and no speed gain on promotion, so he might actually be good if he's speed blessed.

7 speed is (sadly) enough to avoid being doubled by most enemies in FE7 that aren't the obvious exceptions (nomads that don't use steel, mercs/myrms, valkyries, etc) so he's probably going to be okay in the long run!

Hector - Ahead of the curve on STR and DEF which is nice of course, but he's lagging in SPD.
Bartre - About average. A bit behind on DEF and Luck but =/
Eliwood - Maybe slightly above average but lol level 7 average stats
Rebecca - Baller but only level 5 of course.
Priscilla - About average maybe a bit above because she's ahead on SPD
Lyn - That's really good for level 5! She's ahead of the curve on everything but DEF/RES where she's on the curve.
Kent - His luck is trash as you'd expect but is otherwise average.

I'm debating whether Lyn is even worth trying to use. Nothing to do with her stats, I just mean given that using her might be difficult and the chance of an instant game over isn't very appealing.

Yeah, that's totally fair. I just started looking at Bartre, then expanded it to Hector and Kent and then decided to just do everyone lol. Not that average stats really mean anything much here anyway.

7 Str 13 Spd Lyn at level 5 is pretty sick.

I'd use her-- just don't use her on maps where it's impossible to protect her like Ballista maps. She shouldn't really be one shotted if you play her carefully.
