I'm near the end of S1 of Chihayafuru. It's surprisingly great. Who knew an anime about the most boring-sounding card game ever could be so exciting.

I legit don't have a preference. Both Taichi and Arata are great choices for different reasons. I like it when the childhood friend wins and Taichi is a supportive friend (he was a jerk as a kid though). Arata has the karuta angle working for him since a lot of Chihaya's passion for the game leads back to him.

Basically I'm hoping this ends in a threesome, they're both great.

O Maidens In Your Savage Season beated. This one sure came out of the gate strong. The sex material was fairly novel, and the cast felt pretty unique, too. I especially liked Hongo. Her voice acting was great, and she's not really the type of character you see too much in romcoms. Kazusa had good development as the MC throughout, and Sonezaki's progression was great too.

Unfortunately the second half of the show totally shit the bed. Niina turned out to be a terrible person after all, and most of the cast members were way too nice to her, especially after the crimes she committed. Hongo's plotline basically goes nowhere for most of the series. I did like Momo's stuff, but it felt like the show ended while it was still in the middle of her arc. And the drama in the last two episodes was just stupid. Basically par for the course for a shounen romance adaptation I guess.

Also no one had sex and the show managed to have an anti-abortion message too woo

Ugh episode 22 of S1 of Chihayafuru was the first terrible one so far.

Yumin just straight-up cheated, ugh. And Chihaya just blandly let her do it for some reason. I hope this BS card contesting never returns again, it trivializes the whole game if it just comes down to 'actually I hit it lol'

And there were A LOT of characters shown, I'd be surprised if your wife could even recognize half or even a quarter of them.

Haha I mean I understand that people were really hyped for the tournament, but nothing gets me more excited than an author willing to fuck with the status quo to do something interesting. He's definitely earned that. You have to have a really indulgent view of entertainment to be too pissed here. Not that I think two more years of high school would have been bad either, but I respect the author just saying "but the miracle never happen" cause that's life.

Blew away previous One Piece movies, but still got doubled up by the My Hero Academia movie from last year and not even 10% of what Dragon Ball Super Broly did

These days, big shonen stuff are pretty much guaranteed to get their movies shown in theaters outside of Japan.

Demon Slayer was always popular, but there was a noteable uptick in popularity and presence after that fight scene went viral. A LOT of people got into it after that episode aired. It was arou d that time where Demon Slayer content started showing up everywhere I looked.

Another thing to point out is that it's Aniplex. If they've brought over the Madoka movies, Kizumonogatari, Heaven's Feel, and Bunny Girl Senpai to theaters, you can probably bet on them bringing the Demon Slayer movie.

Well Chihayafuru season 3 is (so far) every bit as good as seasons 1 and 2 were. Already can't wait for next week.

Also yeah Roba I don't really like Yumin either. She does show up at other points sometimes but they don't quite focus on that aspect as much as when they introduced her. (It's still there just not as prominently)

She already voiced her in First Order and F/GO VR. She's been the English voice of Mash for like 2 years now.
