I kinda hate how they have the entire class at the end there like that.

Really trying to sell the illusion everyone is important when the story is actually just the Deku show. And sometimes Bakugo and Todoroki show.

I never read it, but I hope that MHA girls manga gets an anime because the girl characters really deserve better

The other class members get their moments throughout the manga still, obviously yes those are the big three but it doesnt hurt to show the whole class

Their moments have been super small though. Like how long do I gotta wait for some good Jiro or Mina moments. Its been 3 seasons and both have very little anything :(

I don't agree that Deku/Bakugo/Todoroki are the only important ones. I don't think all 20 matter necessarily, but even if I'm being conservative I'd say that at least Iida, Ochako, and Kirishima are important characters also.

Anyway I actually kind of liked episode 1 which I wasn't expecting since it was supposed to be an original. I'm also a fan of the ED.

Hell from a quick look the last issue OP was in it got beaten in rank by Yaiba (1st), MHA and Dr. Stone

Not an exaggeration. It actually has a higher average the past 4 months than One Piece. They keep trading the top spot. For the overall year One Piece is still higher because kimetsu didn't start beasting until the summer (wonder why), but now they've been nearly neck and neck. I don't know how long it can pull this off though, probably through the climax of this arc though!

We're not talking once or twice.

Like you'd find Kimetsu higher than one piece more often than the other way around.

Granted, OP also gets more color pages (which are not usually counted) and misses more weeks than most too.

Yeah, I guess I more meant taking over OP as the CONSISTENT #1. Like, I don't care about what's going on in the OP main story proper right now at all, but the idea that it can put out chapter like those last few Marine cutaways and still barely hang on against Yaiba is crazy.

As for Yaiba...I just don't know where Yaiba is gonna go?? I've been saying this feels like a rampup to a final battle considering the characters involved, but it's clearly not, right?

I heard that it was officially called the last arc or something.

Watched HeroAca. Less clip show. Note onboarding. Actually liked it.

I feel like you can really tell the animation team has changed hands? Everything looks a bit softer, I feel lik there have been some slight adjustments to some characters body shapes.

Also Deku's voice sounds older?

Right on, it does look cool. It's one of those things, it's a manga that to me seems tough to capture since the style is so unique and sketchy/art-y (for lack of a better word). But very cool that they're giving it another go.

Gunsmith Cats is another manga (often on the shelf next to BoTI via Dark Horse) that would make a fine new anime.

Two chapters into Spy X Family, and this is wonderful.

I really liked the first episode of the new SAO season.

Here's hoping this doesn't fall on its face by the end like almost all the other seasons before it...!

I dropped Alice 1 and I assume this is a direct continuation, right? No chance you could just give it a shot.

A few more episode 1s to try. I'm only a few minutes into Assassin's Pride, no opinion on the show yet but at minimum I can appreciate it looking good. That goes so far for me nowadays...

Yes. It's a very different plotline so far but it does lead directly out of the ending of season 1.

I mean I'm not expecting this to change anyone's mind on SAO if that's what you thought I was saying. I also don't have any reason to expect this season to be different from the others, although I do have reason to hope for that.

Alicization season 1 actually started quite strong in my opinion and in that case it didn't manage to maintain that strength. This feels a lot like that did at the time except that right now I don't know how season 2 will turn out.

If Alice is the main character as I'm hearing for this season then I'm still gonna give it a shot. As someone who thinks MR is the only good SAO arc...kind of have to.

I was actually going to mention that but then didn't.

As of now Kirito is pretty much not a character and it looks like the season will focus on Alice and probably Asuna.

Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba beated. Bit of an odd show, in terms of what it does well and poorly. The best part is, of course, the animation. The unique things it does with water are amazing, and the fights are pretty much universally fantastic. So that's a huge plus for the show. The OST is great too. Unfortunately, when there aren't fights, everything is extremely hit or miss, particularly the characters.

Tanjiro's a really great MC, and Nezuko's a pretty fun companion. The rest of the cast is mainly shit though. Zenitsu's a truly awful character and I fast forwarded through some of his scenes because they're so bad. Inosuke started out annoying, but developed to the point of his comic relief being mostly solid (but he's still not great). The Demon Slayer organization in general is stupid - I hate that the MC has to join a big group like this rather than just traveling on his own, and they all seem incredibly incompetent. How have they not killed Muzan in so many hundreds of years? The Hashiras all seem stupid and incompetent too. None of them have the capacity to come up with intelligent plans and none of them have accomplished much, which I guess is why Muzan's still alive. Muzan's a terrible character too. All his dialogue is awful, and his design is also stupid - why does no one ever notice his evil red eyes? The twelve kizuki or whatever they're called seem boring in general. The one demon doctor woman who wants to kill demons was interesting, but why aren't more demons like that? There's no consistency.

Even the world building sucks. Somehow demons are this huge threat and a single demon can kill dozens of humans in a night, but the government doesn't even know they exist. Blech. I wish the rest of the cast and the story could match how fun Tanjiro is. We could've had a truly great show if that had been the case.

Kinda unclear really. It seems almost more personal for the Demon Slayers that they do this. I don't know that Muzan is really killing tons of people in one night, or any demon for that matter. His motivations and goals are just mysterious.

I can see where Mac is coming from though. Its weird demons are known enough for there to be a literal organization of demon slayers and yet somehow the general public doesnt seem to know demons exist???? The actual government doesnt know either. Its just weird.

That's super common across so many things though.

Stories about ghosts and aliens and monsters being fought by an underground association? It would be weird if we saw a demon actually attack a large group of people, but it's just been individuals here and there.

Vinland Saga has been a pretty decent production up until this point, but that episode was on another level.

I finally went back and finished Pastel Memories from earlier this year. It has a super low rating on MAL, which I feel is undeserved. It was fine for what it was, a low-production battle/gag anime based on a gacha game I've never heard of. The characters were all one-note stereotypes, but they were still fun. Special mention goes to Yuinya, the awesome cat girl. What little story there was also consisted of shallow anime references, but I enjoyed those too. Even though I hadn't seen a lot of what the specific episodes referenced, they made me more interested in checking those shows out (for example, Rozen Maiden seems like it could be neat, but my backlog is so stupid I probably won't get to it any time soon). In the end, this was a filler anime. Still, in terms of filler anime, I could've done a lot worse.

Speaking of my stupidly huge backog, there's always room for it go get stupider! I haven't looked into the current season at all, so I'd appreciate it if someone could point me to the cute/fun anime of the season.

I have not been grabbed by any of the cute shows this season. Had high hopes for board games but I could barely finish the epsisode. Same with Bookworm.

Nearly every good show this season is either explicitly violent or mean spirited, lol.

I loved the board games show, but I also spend 2 nights a week at a FLGS so I might be biased towards it from that :v

Rifle Is Beautiful's first ep was definitely better than board games, though it had some issues of its own (mainly weird directing). Board games first two eps have suffered from being boring (also wtf does it mean that the girl can't have fun).

Nyatan is still great even in bootleg form. Besides, most Pastel Memories were bootlegs of something!

Sad to hear there isn't a breakout cute anime this season. I'll at least try out the board games one (after all, the board game segments were literally the only good part of A Sister's All You Need), the bookworm one, and Rifle is Beautiful.

You have to just mentally make yourself think of Berserk as "over", and any chapter that come out as special extra chapters. Same as Hunter x Hunter.

So the theaters around us don't seem to have any idea what days they are doing Subs vs Dubs for One Piece Stampede. For those people who already have tickets did you just get info off the AMC site or the theater specifically? Cause the AMC site lists subs for Th, T, W but nothing for Saturday which makes me think that is the only dub showing. But then the specific theater had no idea and said they usually do first 2 showing sub next 2 dub.

Never done one of these anime movies in the theater before so don't know if this is normal.

So I finished Ciconia episode 1 last night.

tldr version while I enjoyed it overall I don't necessarily think it made a good introduction when compared to Higurashi or Umineko episode 1. It also might not appeal to Higurashi or Umineko fans, since it's completely different. There isn't any mystery or whodunnit element to Ciconia and instead it's literally Ryukisi trying to write Evangelion.
