Mac Arrowny 11/10/19 3:07:09 PM #405:	Symphogear AXZ beated. The first half was pretty weak, honestly. Probably the weakest part of any Symphogear. I think the main culprits were the villains and the stakes. It felt like nothing meaningful happened in any of the episodes, and the series' villains were pretty crap (the weakest group of the first four seasons, I'd say). I don't think the villains really got better (though they get less stupid later on, so that was good), but the show kinda pulled it together in general. Stakes felt higher, and the last battles were fun, and there was a fun recurring theme of pairing up characters who weren't usually together which made things feel more fresh. The show kinda feels like it's running out of steam in general though, since each season is kinda the same thing over and over again, and it feels like the good guys should be way more powerful than the bad guys at this point considering what they've accomplished in earlier seasons. I'm a few episodes into the final season, which mostly feels like it's trying harder and it's more enjoyable because of that, but the villain group is still lame, unfortunately. --- All the stars in the sky are waiting for you. <cite>Mac Arrowny posted [p:929938732] in Anime and ... It was a very solid show, but it absolutely did not live up to the hype and love it got while airing. The music was very good, and the style was solid, but nothing else really got good until the second half. Then in the second half they introduced a bunch of cool character designs and gave them minimal screentime or development. (Contrasting the first half where Russian Yuri was good, Victor was fine, and everybody else was bleh) Most notably on the character front, I felt Victor's character was held back by his relationship with Yuri. Could've been really great, but most of his interactions had to be centered around the most boring thing in the cast. I think JJ was probably the best/most entertaining character overall and would absolutely watch the hell out of a series that is him competing with Victor. Probably a 7.5 or 8/10 overall. Like even if we only have 3-5 arcs left I have trouble believing they will get through all in that time. The show's production being a total disaster and the plot progression being so hilariously repetitive were my gripes. Though I still remember the very short surprisingly impressive out of place CG moments.
